There's what I'm guessing is a Lifetime fitness across the street and a beach club that had a busy pool. Even though it's by a busy street, there's also no road noise. Great hotel!

Everyone at the desk is extremely friendly. You have to be over 25 years old to stay here. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There's a small fridge and table for 2 in a queen room. One of our lamps didn't work, but there's a bunch of lighting options in the room. Why did I take a star away? The walls are paper thin. Zero soundproofing. We heard another couple arguing in the bathroom and my husband said he heard someone snoring pretty loudly. Otherwise this place is 10/10 and we'll definitely stay again if we're in the area.

The front desk staff was professional and courteous. One young man was clearly in training, and the young woman guiding him was extremely knowledgeable and polite which to me was a great example of mentorship done right. Unfortunately, our original room had a heater that was rattling loudly and had pooled water on top of it, which I recorded and showed to the front desk. To their credit, maintenance responded quickly, and the technician was friendly, professional, and even helped move my luggage. He brought us keys to a new room, and the front desk upgraded us to the North Suite, which was an incredibly thoughtful gesture. The North Suite was fantastic with a large space with a massive balcony and beautiful views, along with a comfortable seating area outside. Sadly, due to the season, it was too cold to enjoy the balcony, but we appreciated the feature. That said, the suite wasn't perfect: The shower area was oddly dark, with little lighting. There was no air vent in the bathroom, which seemed unusual. The sink was smaller than the one in the standard suite. Neither of the two TVs worked, though I didn't want to complain during the stay and just mentioned it at checkout. The bathroom door didn't latch, which was a minor but noticeable issue. The smoke detector is missing from the ceiling, which gave me pause. Despite those flaws, the service and staff stood out. I witnessed two bar employees being rudely berated by guests over late food (which obviously wasn't their fault), and they handled the situation with professionalism and calm. I was so impressed by their professionalism under pressure (and so thoroughly disgusted by that table of senior citizens who should know better than to act that way) that I tipped each of them $50 each on top of our drink tab to make up for how poorly they were treated. Speaking of which, the bar area is a wonderful little spot, with friendly staff and the occasional live music, making it a fun place to unwind without leaving the hotel. The cocktails are excellent as well. This hotel has long been our go-to when in town, and while there were a few issues this time, the staff's attentiveness and care truly made the experience special. We're already looking forward to our return in 2026. TIP: Be mindful of where you park! The handicap parking is limited, and one of the spaces is under a tree that's heavily populated with birds. Our car was completely covered in bird droppings. I mean absolutely covered. Avoid that spot if you can.

The inn is clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The breakfasts were excellent and one of the many things that made staying here such a great experience. The location is also hard to beat-- a 2 block walk to the beach and a short drive to Main Street, making it easy to enjoy everything Belmar has to offer. What stood out most to me was the hospitality. Staying somewhere for nearly a month gives you a much different perspective than a quick weekend trip, and throughout my entire stay Bill and Linda consistently made me feel welcome and appreciated. Thank you both for making my extended stay feel like home. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend the Inn at the Shore to anyone visiting the area. 10/10.

The tv in the room was finicky and was pretty old. The available tv channels were so-so. There wasn't any breakfast served in the morning unless you wanted to pay at the restaurant down stairs. The wifi was impressively slow. The bathroom looked like every other hotel bathroom I've ever seen. Their phones were down the entire weekend so we had to walk downstairs if we needed to talk to somebody. They did serve coffee in the morning but it was the basic Keurig coffee. Again we liked the hotel, but after some discussion we thought 100-150 per night would have been more reasonable.

Room service was terrific and the lobby manager called me once because I set a do-not-disturb and asked if I still wanted room service. I also saw the same respect extended to other guests. I haven't seen this level of attentiveness, kindness and professionalism in many hotels, so it definitely stood out. We also enjoyed the outdoor pool and used the grill, which was easy to reserve. They had all the tools needed for the grill and we were allotted two hours, but since it was the last reservation of the day, we were able to stay a little longer. Where they need improvement: 1. There was sand in my sheets. It was obvious the staff did not change not the sheets after the last guests. 2. The layout was a little tough to navigate. To start, this review is 2 years late as we stayed there in May of 2024 for a show we attended in Red Bank. Property was used as a state funded shelter to house homeless / welfare recipients. I can't confirm or deny this is still happening in 2026. We checked in, exhausted from our 6 hour drive. At first glance, we were impressed with the hotel's charming decor and couldn't wait to crash. The first impression quickly faded as we headed to our room to the sounds of screams and N bombs billowing through the halls. Great, this was our neighbor. Walked into the room and couldn't even hold a conversation with my wife as the obnoxious voice in the next room was overbearing. Hadn't even been in the hotel 5 minutes and I'm already back at the front desk requesting we be assigned another room. The front desk clerk advised the property was full but assured us she'd speak to our neighbor and tell her to pipe down. Apparently she knew her personally. Did that work? Yes....for exactly 10 minutes. Then it was back to screams, n words and "yo yo yo yo m-fer this m-fer that." Could've sworn Cardi B was in the next room. Demanded our reservation cancel at this point with a full refund. Front desk lady told us she would boot the woman from the property. This is where it gets spicy. Front desk lady and woman are now involved in a full-scale verbal shoot out in the hallway. The clerk then summoned another staff member for assistance. Apparently, they didn't get along and were bickering back and forth in the midst of trying to evict this woman from the hotel. Doesn't get more professional than that. Police were called and finally after a 2-hour song and dance the woman vacated the premises. The police seem to be regular visitors there, the staff highlighted their frequent pop ins. Spoke to the Manager the next day, who seemed empathetic to our experience. We were promised a refund for the eventful night. When we returned home, I emailed him to touch base about it, never to hear back from him again. Moral of the story? Don't let eloquent settings fool you from the ratchet bowels that lie within the walls.

First of all, right on Rt. 34 S, not far off the GSP, and plenty of options for dining in the area. "Continental breakfast" was breads, bagels, a few cereals, Activia yogurt, bananas, coffee and tea, OJ. We were happy to have Cheerios, an unsweetened choice. There were a microwave, a mini fridge, and a TV in the room. The shower in the room was good. I found the bed and pillows mildly uncomfortable but it was just the one night and fine. Our room was right around the corner from the reception desk, and right across the hall from the laundry room, with windows open to the parking lot, but aside from 1 very loud conversation in the hallway right after we went to bed, it was quiet enough. The ambiance of the hotel is cute, reminiscent of an older era, nicely decorated. Of course Colt's Neck was (maybe still is) known for horses, hence the name. For me, the highlight was actually the next morning after we checked out - it's barely a half mile from the Central NJ famed Delicious Orchards. We drove back to NYC with more than 5 lbs of fresh autumn apples, a fantastic apple turnover, and a pkg of apple cider donuts!
