Well where do I start, there's other peoples hair all over the bathroom! Hell I wanted ice and there was more than one in the ice bucket!! Not one of the doors to enter the hotel have locks on them and there's no elevator so you have to climb the nasty stairs at either side of the building. The whole place needs updated or just tear it down and start all over. The shower walls are coming apart and separated from the wall. HD TV, no not here, I didn't even know there were still this type of TV being used anymore. The fridge looks like it was dragged down the highway. The couple of stink bugs do make good company thou. The pillows are crap and the coffee maker is in the bathroom, pretty sure that's as gross as it gets. Oh, I believe someone puked in the dresser drawer. But all the lamps worked so there's that going for them! read more

Please drive the 30 minutes to the many options for other town this place is infested with bugs. Inside and out. Behind the motel there is un kept yard were there is a massive amount of rodents and bugs. And it smells like sewage and something dead. Don't go to this place. When I asked to switch rooms the manager was very rude and asked me to leave I was not refunded. read more

As a Yelp reviewer, I'm not usually on the low end of a rating scale but I must confess I'm a wee bit baffled by the 5-star love for what is a perfectly fine but definitely not stellar hotel experience here in the otherwise lovely Rochester, Indiana. This Quality Inn used to be a Comfort Inn, a fact that is apparent from some of the local decor and other hotel features. It appears it never quite entirely switched over - either due to cost or simply lack of investment in completing the switch. On the flip side, the front lobby decor is warm and welcoming even if it is primarily cosmetic. Rochester has only three motel/hotel options with two being right next to each other - this hotel and the Super 8. The Super 8, at least from the outside, looks newer and fresher. However, I had to laugh because every time I looked over there I could see an employee out front smoking. On the flip side, at Quality Inn the employees were either inside working, inside watching their satellite television channels, or outside taking care of a cat and her recently born family of kittens that seemed to have been adopted by hotel employees until a better home option could be located. If there's a key reason to stay at Quality Inn, it's the employees. They were friendly and welcoming across the board. They were always helpful - frequently arriving at their front door to open it for me even before I had a chance. While the front entrance is old school - for example, non-automatic doors and a worn, slightly broken curb cut - the employees definitely poured on that sense of welcome. The accessible room was mostly workable, though the room was relatively small and the furniture made it a tad difficult for someone in a wheelchair to get through the room. I kept thinking it would likely be difficult for someone in a larger power wheelchair. Quality Inn offers free wifi, a free hot breakfast, is pet friendly, and has both a small fitness center and a business center. I was impressed that when someone needed to print something, a hotel employee even unhooked their own printer and brought it over to make that happen. While the hotel is close to retail and restaurant options, the parking lot/street around the hotel could sure use an upgrade. It was a difficult wheel in a wheelchair due to your usual wear and tear. I'm also baffled why there's been no effort to create a connecting path between the Wal-Mart next door and the two hotels. It's an obvious benefit. While I realize most who walk would just walk across the culvert, that is more challenging than it needs to be. There's a McDonald's at the front of the parking lot, hence the street name, though be warned I was informed by locals they have an established reputation for slow, questionable service. They are also one of the test sites for the self-serve kiosks and I sat there a couple times smiling as locals clearly aren't happy about it. The breakfast nook area offers your average breakfast, though, it's not really very wheelchair friendly with the tight space having multiple tables in it and if it was crowded there's no way a wheelchair could get in/out with items in hand. The room itself? Clean and comfortable, though the faded paint is again indicative of an interior in need of a little TLC. The satellite options were decent, though it did go out at one point on my 2nd night in Rochester. I would also say that Quality Inn has always been more of a "budget" option for me and this particular location seemed a bit overpriced. I would have expected it to be a mid-range option. Upon further research, Quality Inn was about $20 higher per night than the Super 8 next door. Both, however, had only modest occupancy during a holiday weekend. Overall, I would likely consider returning for the service. The staff is super friendly here and the accommodations comfortable enough that the two nights I spent here were restful and pleasing. The kindness involving the cats and the 5-week old kittens was fun to watch. Geocachers should also note that there's a cache within about 300 feet of the hotel. Go for it. I found it! With a bit of an upgrade and some standard maintenance, the Quality Inn could easily return to being a 4-star hotel. However, for now it seems like a 3-star rating and a modest thumbs up are most appropriate. read more

Quality Inn - Roll-in shower in Room 102. - Hotels Near Me - Rochester, Indiana

I spent one night in this "suite" (Room 233 if you're asking) and you couldn't pay me to stay in it again. There was black mold around the base of the tub, the desk was broken, the mattress in the pull out couch was broken, stained, and without sheets, blankets or pillows. I went to the counter to get these things, was told by the night person (Who I think is related to the day person) that the things are in the drawers, to which I replied "There is nothing in the drawers." Reason I went down there is because the phone in the room didn't work. A/C was off in both the hallway and the room, and when I came back to my room, I noticed that instead of the peephole that should be on the outside of the door, there was nothing. Just a hole that you could look through, right into the living room. The lady at night complained about giving us more pillows, blamed everything on the housekeeping, and said that she had just gotten back 3 hours before we checked in, so she would send housekeeping up at 9:30 to fix the things. Next morning, while my children are bathing, housekeeping ENTERS OUR ROOM WITHOUT KNOCKING. Yes, there wasn't a do not disturb sign hanging, because I had to shove it into the plastic mounted on the door to cover the peephole. They tried to get past my wife, stating "If we don't fix the things now, they won't let us come back." and were insistent. We had enough, so we were going to cancel the next night and go somewhere else. I went to check out, the male manager argued with me about checking out, wanted to call the housekeeping down to yell at them IN FRONT OF ME. I had to instruct someone in charge of a hotel how to properly be a decent human being. I was instructed to reach out to booking.com to get my refund. Booking.com then came back and said that we would only be getting half as part of a "compromise". I agreed to it, and stated that I would be posting my entire experience online (Not just to their corporate office) due to this compromise and I hope the $57.25 was worth it. Today, I call to check the status, and they are now stating that there is something of value missing from the room and they will not be issuing a refund. I called the location directly, was told the manager had just stepped out, and would call me back. -3/5 Would recommend sleeping in your car in the Walmart parking lot over this. read more

i wish I could give less than 1 star. i will never EVER again stay in this hotel. we get our room, walk in, it instantly smells musty. but alright, we are tired after a 2+ hour drive. So we decide to look past that. we turn on the lights and TONS of cockroaches are just scurrying around the room. in the sheets, on the bed, on the walls, behind the couch, every thing. we go downstairs and the desk attendant was not very friendly. i informed him of the bug problem and he proceeds to try to convince me to switch rooms because "they have never had this problem before" and even had someone go check the room after I showed him the photos I had taken. I'm sorry, but If that many roaches are in one room, there is a problem!!!! read more

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel several times in the past few years while visiting my mother. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and service and the breakfast are good. The accommodations, however, are in severe need of attention. The rear entryway doors have been extremely sticky and hard to open since we've started staying there, were very difficult a year ago, and instead of repairing them, this year there was a sign on the right-hand door to "Please Use Other Door". Is it impossible to find a door repairman in Rochester, Indiana? Another entryway was rendered inaccessible by the fallen apples covering the sidewalk leading to the door. There is no way we could roll our luggage through them. Last year and previously, our rooms had a microwave and refrigerator. This year, they were simply eliminated. The washing machine was out of order, which forced us to make an inconvenient visit to a local laundromat. As an example of the haphazard maintenance of this hotel, peruse the photos. I assume that the initial photos were posted by management. Notice that the lead photo does not show the hotel signage. It's blocked by a tree (is someone hiding something?). Then scroll through the photos to the last photo (as of the date of this review), which I took during our recent stay, and which shows the hotel sign. They didn't bother to paint or resurface the old "Comfort Inn" signage before adding the "Quality Inn" signage, so both are visible. What is even more strange, the lead photo on the Choice Hotels site for this hotel, which shows the new "Quality Inn" signage, has apparently been edited by someone to eliminate the ghost of the old "Comfort Inn" sign, which is clearly visible in my iPhone photo. Why is this, and who did it? I can't imagine Choice Hotels standing for this, as they, in our experience, hold their properties to a very satisfactory standard. I am a Choice Hotels Elite Platinum member, and prefer to stay at a Choice Hotels property. This is the closest Choice Hotels property to my mother's long-term care facility, but I think we're going to have to choose a less convenient one next time. read more

Outside appearance is a little harsh and has a worn look but all in all it's a quality place. Decent accommodations though dated. Staff is very friendly and supportive. The pancake maker is cool. And the whirlpool tubs in the suites are fun. read more

Stayed here on our way back from a Notre Dame football game. My significant other has stayed here many times but it was a first for me. I was skeptical. It's a small town with only 3 hotels, none of which were the kind of hotels I usually stay in. I was pleasantly surprised. Very clean room with comfortable bed and great sheets! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. There is free wifi and the free breakfast was amazing. Anything you could possibly want for breakfast was available. Eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, oatmeal, bagels, cereal, and list goes on....Thanks for a great stay! read more

No swimming pool was the main drawback for the price. Do have a good breakfast bar for free. Room was a little rundown but best Rochester has to offer. read more

Enjoyed our stay here very much. VERY FRIENDLY STAFF. Nice room, comfy beds. Catered to needs of elderly guest. Conveniently located. Good breakfast every day - the orange juice is particularly refreshing - coffee readily available - I enjoyed the sausage & eggs, fresh, not dried out like some places - and the pancake maker is pretty darn cool. :) Definitely would stay here again. read more
