The coffee is super loaded with creamers sugars cups two different kinds of coffee and hot water. In the breakfast seriously had two different machines one making pancakes and one making waffles. Both were good. Heh. They also had cereal, eggs, and sausage that I was more concerned about the waffles. All in all it was worth the extra money to get a two dollar hotel, compared to a one dollar hotel. Definitely worth a try.

There's also a beautiful two sided fireplace that I'll bet is great in the winter, but they didn't light up during our visit because of the warm temps. Also in the lobby is a restaurant/sports bar. My sister enjoyed the steak while I got a salad. There was a nice chill vibe with the visitors sitting around and relaxing. The only complaint I have is that our poor server was running around as he was the waiter, bartender, and expediter while there was just one lady in the kitchen. He seemed overworked and were worried about that poor man. Our room was a very clean suite so we got 1.5 baths and a separate living room with a pullout sofa bed. It was great to be able to spread out and the wifi is very reliable. The hotel is near the conference center and the state fair grounds and there are a nice mix of restaurants and shops. There's even a nice brewery/restaurant on the next block. There were a surprising amount of grassy areas in the neighborhood to walk the dogs, but we limited the distance we walked from the hotel because there are a lot of sketchy homeless people down the block. We felt safe all around, except when we talked to some of them. We're no slouches because we've lived in sketchy neighborhoods in LA, San Francisco, Oakland, etc, but there was a weird vibe with these folks. Still I'd happily stay at this hotel again. The quality has dropped by a long shot since Hilton purchased them but after several personal travel experiences with Hilton properties around the world, I am not surprised. There was a huge tear in the bottom sheet on one of the beds in our room, the coffee maker was broken and none of the shampoos/body washes or conditioners were re-stocked in our room when we checked in. While the staff did comp our $10 parking and a $2 water bottle (which they are now charging for in room) we still walked away with a bad taste in our mouths. We have stayed in the lower priced Comfort Inn in Yakima and while it's a lower star property it includes fairly good breakfast buffets, has pool and hot tub facilities and free parking on site. The breakfast at Hotel Maison is $12 per person for a really minimal and unappetizing spread. The prices of this hotel just simply do not justify the quality.

After booking I called to clarify that we had 2 dogs and was told it was noted and the fee was $15 total. When I checked in online I was given the option to add a pet fee of $15 which I did. When we arrived I went to the desk and was greeted by a lovely, woman who visited our dogs and again told me it was $15 per night and told me it was added to our bill. Upon leaving, Lilly (the manager), checked me out and told me she added another $15 as the fee is per dog per night. She was snide, unapologetic and could have cared less that I was annoyed by being told one thing and then charged another. We have paid far more for our pets per night but I didn't appreciate her lack of customer service skills. No problem paying for our pets to join us but usually there is some pet amenity, designated dog area, dog poop bags, cans to toss bags, cookies at the desk... nothing here. Just take your money. Wont be back.
