Had a clogged kitchen sink and I didn't even use the sink because we just got home from having dinner for my wife's birthday. Come to find that my drain shares a pipe with my neighbor, so the shared pipe backed up, which in turn pushed water up my drain whenever they used their sink. I called everyone who was listed as 24/7 plumbers, but none had availability last night. In the morning, I called 535 because I have used them a few times, but they didn't have availability until Sunday. As I scrolled through Yelp, I came across Quality Plumbing and saw the address was my address! This plumber lives in my building. I took this as a major plus because he has got to be familiar with the building. He was very nice upon taking my call and scheduled a range between 12:15 - 2:15pm. He arrive at the tail end of the time range and wasted no time. He showed his knowledge of the building by doing all the work in the hallway access point. I cleared my kitchen sink cabinet anticipating that would be where all the work would be done. He showed me the pipe and what was built up, kitchen grease.. replaced the original 45 year old cast iron pipe with PVC. Assured no leaks by having me and my neighbor run our water, and he was done in about an hour. Very friendly, easy to work with, and reasonable rates. A few days I had an incident where there was a small leak in my house and I had to shut off the Main Water Valve which is located right outside of my house. Keep in mind that I bought this newly built home 20 years ago and not once did I ever have a problem with a leak in my house so here I am trying to turn the lever on the Main Shutter Valve and it wouldn't even budge one bit. It was completely frozen and I didn't know what to do. After consulting with my neighbor, he suggested that I get a Ball Valve and install it on the side of my house because he said if my house was to get flooded, the Ball Valve is just a Lever that I just had to turn right and not use a lot of force to shut the Water Supply to our house completely instead of trying to pry the Shutter Valve Off which is located underground. Well finding a Plumber was a daunting task and trying to find an honest and reliable Plumber that won't bleed you dry is a gamble I had to take. After getting a lot of replies from quite a few Plumbing Services , some estimates were anywhere from $300 to $600 and that was just crazy but expected. Some didn't even want to give you a quote until they looked at it but then again you have to pay them for the visit even if you decline their services. So enter Quality Plumbing. Plumber Tony texted me on my phone and asked me what the problem was. I told him that my Main Water Supply Valve froze and he told me to send him some pictures of the Water Valve. Not even a few minutes after he gave me a call and told me to just keep spraying WD-40 on it and see if it would turn and the.n call him if it didn't succeed. I even asked him how much it would cost me to install a Ball Valve on the side of my house Tony gave me a estimated quote over the phone and I was very pleased that it wouldn't cost me what other Plumbing Services were quoting. Tony was genuinely concerned about my situation and that made me make my decision on using Quality Plumbing an easy decision. He told me he charges $90 and hour plus whatever the materials cost and I was comfortable with that. No beating around the bush and straight to the point. So we set an appointment time and Tony arrives right on schedule. Tony was very pleasantl and cordial. Now in order to install the Ball Valve on the side of my house, he did have to turn off the Main Water Valve underground which was frozen. He went straight to work and was watching him unfreeze the Water Valve and Tony got that thing Turning after 20 years of being dormant. It was like nothing for him to get that thing turning. On to the Ball Valve, Tony went straight to work on the Ball Valve and let's just say he wasted to no time doing it under my supervision. No nonsense and got the job done in under an hour. I watched him every step of the way and his work is remarkable. That is definitely something I could never ever do in my lifetime. That's why you leave these things to the pros. Tony definitely knows what he's doing and In the end, let's just say I was very very satisfied with what he charged me considering how hard things are considering we've been out of work for months now because of the Pandemic. I was expecting to pay through the nose but Tony is a perfect example of what honest hard working Plumbers are and not the shady type that rip you off or do a crappy job. Rest assured Tony is definitely going to be my Plumber from now on if I ever have a Plumbing situation ever again. Trying to replace my valve apparatus, on my shower. According to YouTube a process it would take a plumber approximately 1 hour tops, requiring equipment probably around $20-$30. This individual has a flat rate of $800. that will give him around a $700 per hour rate making him the highest-paid plumber in the area, and higher paid than neurosurgeons. when I explained to him that the price was outrageous, how he justifies that based on a $90 hourly rate he responded in the most professional manner that he knew how. The service was good, his response was prompt and timely and He was courteous and did a good job installing the needed fittings. He charged me for 3 hours labor for himself $90.00 per hour and an assistant for 3 hours at $45.00 per hour. I believe that the job skould not have taken more than 2 hours for 1 plumber and I could not see why an assistant was need for that job. I can blame myself for not getting an upfront estimate. Also, It looks like he had a 300% markup on the standard plumbing fittings that were used. I am not sure what is a standard markup. Christmas Day evening plumbing emergency. I was incredibly pleasantly surprised and deeply appreciative to have a plumber return my call on Christmas. Wow. He agreed he could be there the next morning 12/26/18. He arrived within 15-20 minutes of the quote window (on time for Hawaii). He did not charge for his helper and he met his original quote for $200 which was great as I could not 100% advise him what the issue was (I only knew the 2 piece toilet was leaking from the tank and dripping into the condo below). I do feel he "fluffed" his labor time by 20-30 minutes, but when he explained he was calling it 1.5 hours of labor to include driving time, I was okay with it. Very nice guy but the only thing that I would suggest is make sure that you get your estimate in writing because my estimate was between $450 and $550 on the date of estimate and he came out on Friday and we agreed that he would do the work on Tuesday and he showed up on Tuesday but my price was now $1000 by the end of the day it was $1500 and he knocked it down to $1200 but because I had to leave there was a couple of things that he didn't finish but does good quality work just make sure you have everything in writing read more
