I do a lot of reviews before I do anything! I'm also very picky about who works on my car. Everything I read said this place was great. After my visit today, I agree with all the reviews! The service staff was friendly and honest. I went in for an oil change and told them I may be due for a brake job soon. They completed my old changed, cheaper than any other place in town on my add, and inspected my brakes for free. They determined that I did not need any work to my brakes, saving me a lot of money! I dropped off my 2003 toyota echo for AC problems. The price for changing the evaporator core was reasonable. Friendly staff? I'll put it this way: When I dropped my car off, there was a 1968 Shelby Cobra on the racks. They were dealing with the owner right before me in line. When I went to pick my car up, there was a red 2014 Corvette on the racks. They were dealing with that owner, again, just before me in line. Each time, they were every bit as courteous, perhaps more so, with me than they were with those gentlemen. Not that I should expect differemtly, but I kinda did. I currently am in the safety and service industry, I brought my car to Qual Tech Automotive's RR 620, summer 2016. They had it for a number of days fixed for different things which were not the issue, at that point I ask for help from the owner Billy, promise to look into it finally resolve the issues he said. They delivered to my house after refunding me the money for the three things he did we're not broken. I check the work it was not completed under the hood. Warning these guys don't know advanced mechanics. It will be a waste of your time and money, to get customer service and quality craftsmanship! I recently had to get an alignment on my 97 ford f250. I normally do all my own work to my truck but I don't have a alignment machine at home so I had to take it to be done. I made the mistake of taking it to a brake check and boy did they mess it up, broke some parts and charged me for it! Very upset. It reinforced my dis trust for repair shops. Well after reading some good reviews I decided to try again at Qual Tech. Wow what a difference! These guys are honest and actually know what they are doing! I am so happy I found this shop and would recommend them to my friends and family. Like others have said, it's hard to find a mechanic shop that isn't looking to tap you for all sorts of things that "need" to be done to your car. Curtis and the Qualtech crew have now worked on all three of my family's cars, and each time it has been a very positive experience. Curtis did a quick, minor repair on my son's car recently, and I pointed out that it needed some additional work. When he was finished, he handed me the keys and said, "Don't worry about it" (the repair cost) - "just let me know when you're ready to do the other work." That's good old-fashioned customer service - something you see so little of these days. The other rarity is the level of integrity of Curtis and his staff. If he tells me something needs repalced/fixed, etc., I trust he's shooting straight with me. My only concern is that word will get out about these guys and it will get harder to get your car in and out in a hurry because of all their business. read more

I recently brought my Porsche 911 Turbo to Qualtech for an alignment. I do all my own work but since a laser alignment setup costs as much as a car I must take my cars to a shop for alignments. I am very protective over my cars so the thought of someone else taking tools to my cars makes me very nervous. I was pleased that the tech really took his time to get the alignment as close to the specs I requested as possible. I could tell he was being careful and he consulted with me throughout the process. On the drive home the car felt right. In the future I will be taking my cars to Qualtech for alignments. I will also recommend them to my friends that are of equal mindsets to me with their high end cars. read more

Qualtech is really one of the best shop in Austin. I have been here many times, and they have always been great! I had to have my headlight switch replaced in my Pontiac Solstice and it was something I couldn't handle myself. Qualtech gave me a great deal on the labor, and even applied a coupon to an oil change to save me money. I highly recommend this shop to anyone in the Austin area. Highly recommended. I went in for a front end-alignment and they were not only fast to get my car in, but had WiFi bottled water. The alignment tech was OCD about it - which i love because he made sure to get the steering wheel straight. he even drove it 3 times to make sure it was dialed in. Easily the most professional, friendly, honest and well priced garage in town. My wife has an older vehicle that was approaching the end of our warranty. To manage possible issues we had the car thoroughly inspected. As can be expected in a 10 year old car, there were things to repair. The quote was thorough and spot on. I was driving down Hwy 666 is what I call it (Hwy 620), someone pulled up to me and told me my brake lights were out. I pulled over and it happened to be Qualtech. I was looking around and I guy came out to ask if I need help. I said yes. He replaced the brake lights for free. But that was not the problem. It was a switch near my brake pedal. It was 4;30 in the day. They had to order the part and it was delivered in 10 minutes. They instantly installed it and I was out of there in 30 minutes. Wow- that is all I can say. This is my first review on Yelp- I'm really not into it, but I had to for these guys. They have been my husband's and my regular mechanic since we moved to Austin in the summer of 2014. They are always courteous and do not try to pressure anything through. An honest mechanic is almost an oxymoron these days. Anyway, last week I called them because I had a screw in my tire. I came 20 min before closing, got help right away. They took out a two inch screw and patched up the hole- free of charge! I would recommend these guys to anyone, and hope that I can help them drum up some more business with this review- they deserve it. read more

My Yukon surprised me a couple of weeks ago when it suddenly had no forward or reverse. It was towed in Qualtech at about 4 o'clock and was diagnosed that same afternoon. I gave them the OK for the repair and it was fixed by noon the next day! Their service was very friendly and professional, the quick diagnosis and repair made me feel like my vehicle was a priority for them. I needed to replace the radiator on my wife's car. It's so hard to find a mechanic that you can trust and guess what? I've found him and his entire team. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and welcomed immediately by Bob. I explained what was going on with the car and immediately had the car dropped off on the same day late afternoon. While it took some time to figure out the problem--they ended up taking the car apart--QualTech did a great job keeping me posted along the way. Qualtech seems competent and they are certainly customer-oriented. Perhaps this is a case of "you get what you pay for", but I brought my vehicle in for repair (wheel bearing replacement), and when I compared cost to another highly-rated shop, Qualtech charged me about 50% more. They also did a few things like rotate and balance the tires (which I had told them I already did) without asking. Unfortunately, because of these things, I won't be going back. read more

These guys are friendly, quick, and honest. I do a lot of simple stuff myself (e.g. brake pads), but I have the shop do most fluids and anything that requires equipment (or time) I don't have. Most times when I'm in there, they tell me not to get something done (save your money and do it later). Many shops recommend replacing fluids, pads, etc. the week after they were changed! I've only had one major repair (clutch replacement). Most stuff has been minor, but I've got no complaints with anything they've done. read more

This is the absolute best place to take your vehicle. We have been using Qual Tech for a few years now. The staff are all super friendly and helpful and they don't sell you what you don't need. We've taken several vehicles and in and always got the best advice and service here. If we still lived in Austin we'd be using these awesome fellas to fix up my busted 2003 Corolla. We've moved to Lubbock recently but I stopped into town this past weekend to have them take a look at our 2003 Pilot's brakes. They had a sweet driver take me home and pick me up when the car was ready, they didn't even charge me for looking at the car and Todd and Bob were friendly and sweet as usual. Thank you to all the staff for making maintenance a breeze and for keeping us from worrying about being taken advantage of. Qualtech replaced our clutch, they did a poor job and we had to take it back in to have it fixed the very next day. then only a week later as we were road tripping across the midwest the clutch just falls apart throwing parts all over the highway in the middle of nowhere forcing us to have it towed, replaced and repaired on the outskirts of a small town. parts had to be ordered so we had to pony up for a hotel room unexpectedly as well. When we got back to Austin and contacted Qualtech they informed us that they would not issue any refunds or work with us at all because we took the car to a different service station to be repaired so they were absolved of any responsibility, so sorry could not have it towed for 10 hours back to your shop. They then resorted to threats and insults to make us go away, had the nerve to say they would not issue any refunds and if we contested the charges Texas law allows them to repo our car (which is does but just an rude thing to resort to to get rid of a dissatisfied customer). NOT good mechanics, and NOT good people to do business with. just avoid all together. _(follow up)__ I definitely do not have the wrong shop, it has been some time since the repair so doubt it could be turned in for a warranty at this point, just now getting around to leaving the review.. so perhaps with employee turn over you will get a different experience.. I stand by this review in regards to the experience we had at this location. read more

Everyone should please go to these guys even if they are no where near your home. I was in such a rough patch and they saved me! I was between leases and crashing on my brothers sofa to save a bit of money between leases but had a death in the family and then my car broke down. So no home or car now! I was convinced that it was a goner. I thought the engine was dead due to the burning of oil and all the problems it was giving me. I was spending so much on uber and car rentals to get to work also. I was about to sell my Honda for parts and slave away to a new car but I had so many financial issues that I could not get a new car at the moment. Bob took it in and saved it! They could have taken total advantage of me and ripped me off but they were so kind and caring. These guys are the best. They are no where near where I live, but I will only go to them. We have taken our Mercedes and 1995 Lexus to Qual Tech, formerly Kurt's Auto Works for years, despite the fact we live in the Lakeway area, and it is a half hour trip up there. When I bought new tires at Discount TIre, the manager said a knocking sound I was hearing was probably the struts, very dangerous, and have it looked at asap, and gave me the name of a local business. While on the lift, the strut broke apart, and they replaced all of them, along with fixing the air conditioning and oil leaks. The bill was unbelievably high, so before I went back to challenge it, I gave Mike at Qual Tech the itemized bill and asked what he thought. He ran all the details of labor and parts and gave it to me in the form of their estimate, which was almost $2000 lower than what I had paid. It really helped me to have the confidence I needed to speak with the other garage and be able to show them the estimate. I did get something removed. I so greatly appreciated what Mike did and tried to give him money for his time, but he refused. I'm thrilled to know Qual Tech has a garage down here in Bee Cave run by Curtis for whom I have the greatest respect. Thanks to Mike, some good came out of some very bad. read more

I have a Honda Odyssey (2009) and a Honda Civic (2001). They have serviced both vehicles...everything from oil changes, new tires, tire repairs, cam senors, etc. I've always had a great experience, which is difficult to come by when it comes to auto repair/maintenance, either private or dealerships. The best part about Qual Tech is they have told me on a couple of occations, you don't need that fix or part or whatever. The service advisers and mechanics at QualTech are top notch. At my last visit they went above and beyond any other shop to troubleshoot and fix my car's problem. We had taken the car to two other shops that week because the car had trouble starting/running & neither of them fixed the issue. QualTech thoroughly researched the issue and proposed a completely different approach, which involved addressing some technical bulletins for the car's operating system. The repairs took two days to research and complete, but it was definitely worth the wait. The bill was also much less than I expected, considering the amount of time the QualTech staff spent on the vehicle. read more
