My friends threw a celebration dinner for me, and said the staff was very easy to work with in getting champagne and cake:) As for the food, we started with the house bread, which was fantastic, as well as the burrata. I was super impressed with the house bread as it was focaccia and it's one of the best table breads I have had in a while. Next, the fungi pizza was fantastic! It had plenty of mushrooms and all enjoyed it. They had a wood fired pizza oven, so I think pizza is definitely the way to go. We also got the bolognese, which was good, but I wasn't wowed by it and would have preferred to eat more pizza. As for the gnocchi, the sauce was GREAT, but we were disappointed in the texture. Absolutely delicious. We've been to many of the Austin Italian cuisine staples and we found this food to be on par or better than the best we've had. My gnocchi was top notch, fresh house made bread, delicious drinks, and great service. We did find it to be a bit loud and the tables a touch close together but that was not all bad. Everything about this place makes you feel at home and on a European trip at the same time. You can come as you are, either in your casual lounge clothes or your best date night outfit. Now to the food, best bread I have ever had in an Italian restaurant including all the restaurants I have been to around Europe. It comes with olive oil and a touch of salt which makes it's incredible. There has been different specials each time we have come and a big variety to choose from. Even with a big variety there is so much intention brought to each dish. The service was so nice, casual in the best way. Our waitress was so kind always checking in on us and when we asked about the owners story she was kind enough to mention it to them and within five minutes Gianfranco the head chef and owner came over to say hi and ask how everything was. I tried out this place on my Friday night dinner with my family and a friend. As long as I have been in Austin I never even heard of this place so I was pretty excited. It was located right on Congress and is family owned so something I thought I needed to try. We were seated right away even though the place was pretty lively. The waitress was quick to help us and answered all questions. I ordered a pizza and spaghetti both of which I split with my friend. The food here was decent and they also had baskets of bread free bread before the meal while we waited. The gelato here was absolutely fantastic and probably the best I ever had. The workers were nice and the environment here was nice. One thing that I didn't like here was the fact that when there was a price discrepancy between the receipt and the menu the waitress said that they needed to change the menu and didn't do anything about honoring the price that we saw and ordered based on. read more

To start. family made reservations weeks beforehand to make sure they were good to go. We only had 5 people with us.. 3 people arrive and sit down and then the other 2 arrive shortly after and are seated. Waiters and waitresses are polite and tells us about their specials - which is a way different/larger menu then given to us. We order our drinks, Peach Bellini, which was the best drink/thing on the menu - 6/10. The strawberry lemonade wasn't ready to go when seated... We order appetizers and the calamari isn't ready... it needs to be washed and prepped so it will take 20 mins- 4/10. We get the bruschetta which was literally.. Bread and the cured meat. THATS ALL. 3/10. We then get our pastas and the plates are terribly hot, and food mid-hot temp compared to the plate. The plate shouldn't be hot all around where you can't touch it - (they put it in a warmer of some kind seems like) The fettuccine is a simple meal and it was made complicated/ sooo bland. The rigatoni with truffle sausage, sauce tastes and looks so bland. We literally only ate a bite.. Both pastas 4/10. the pizzas then comes out and tastes like Home Slice was a better option. Ingredients were missing on pizzas and there was hardly any cheese on both. 4/10 We were so happy to see their oven going and were disappointed. We then talked to the waiter and the Manager came out.. he was not pleased at all to hear what we had to say that he stormed away without a word!!! Literally.. He came back, invaded our personal space trying to get the plates up- didn't say excuse me or present himself and then came back and told us to him it tasted fine. The picture is how the food was taken.. we said we would pay for our drinks and appetizers - even though they were low grade and the bill was still 80+ dollars. 2 bellinis, 3 soft drinks and their two apps I mentioned.. Yeah, no thanks. I do not recommend, there were a group of 3 and one single person in the restaurant.. We had a fantastic time this past week on our first visit to this charming restaurant. To start, the staff is exceptional! Everyone was helpful and made us feel at home. We ordered the brushetta to start, and I was addicted! I had to pace myself because I knew there was a lot more to come. We appreciated the pace at which the food came out to allow us to enjoy every step of the way without feeling rushed. From the chicken parmesan to the Fettuccini and pizza, we simply couldn't get enough. We all took at least one bite of each other's meal. Equally undecided as to which was best because everything was delicious. As we ended our night happily satisfied we couldn't leave without trying some of the gelato. Definitely leave some room as that was the icing on the cake. Whether you're from Austin or coming to visit, this is a must on your list. They don't call Austin a "foodie" town for nothing! Food was overall a 4 but service was slow despite having reservations.... my meal and my mothers meal came out HOT (great) but 15 minute before my boyfriends pizza. Our appetizers were the artichoke which was great and focaccia which came out burnt. The manager / hostess was extremely snippy but our server did the best she could.... it seemed like she was covering the entire restaurant. I have personally made a better calazone as a high schooler over a decade ago. There were two different groups of guests that were obnoxiously loud and rude - owners and staff did nothing to ask them to quiet down and be respectful. The 5 minute Uber ride back to the hotel, the two minute elevator ride to the room and quick dash to the bathroom before I crapped my pants was one of my most memorable nights in a long time. The staff and owners are supee friendly and accommodating. We didn't have a reservation, but they seated us as best as they could. The menu has a good mix of traditional and novel Italian dishes. For the main entrees, we ordered the margarita and Calabrese pizzas, the mushroom tortellini, the spaghetti carbonara, and white lasagna. All very good. The calamari appetizer was very tender and I loved the herbaceous-ness of the marinara sauce the appetizer came with. The coffee and tiramisu were great too. When my family went to Italy years ago, we had a pizza that was truly unmatchable. There is something about the way dough is made in Italy that makes it so light and digestible. We would eat entire pizzas every single day and not gain a pound because of the different ingredients they used. We have never found that to be true about any USA pizza places.
