I ate here recently for the first time at a birthday party, and enjoyed my lunch quite a bit. A Two Item Combination Plate of a Wet Shredded Beef, Bean & Cheese Burrito and a Crispy Ground Beef Taco was preceded by well-made Guac, a smooth Bean Dip, Red Salsa, and thin Tortilla Chips. The Salsa looked fiery but was only mildly spicy. The burrito I ordered was on the small side but just the right size for a partial lunch. And the taco was crispy as advertised, and adorned with lettuce, tomatoes, and orange cheese. Diane liked her Shrimp Quesadilla, which contained one piece of grilled shrimp in each section. While everything I sampled tasted great, plating could have been improved upon. The Bean Dip was basically just Refried Beans smacked onto a small ceramic plate, and some lettuce in the taco was dark green and not crisp. Included sides of Refried Beans with melted cheese on top and orange Mexican Rice tasted fine but dominated the plate, completely filling the large space between my burrito and taco. I suppose another way of looking at this is that portions were generous. The restaurant's ambiance of wood chairs and plates painted in primary colors hearkened back to that of authentic old Mexico. And service was very good until we were ready to leave. Then it took three tries to get a server to remember to bring us a small box to package the remains of Diane's Shrimp Quesadilla. We've been going to Que Mas for quite a long time. The food is good, however, they're starting to nickel and dime you for different things. Charging for extra chips. Charging extra for the salsa. If you're there with friends and pay separately, every separate check was charged a $3 split check fee. The amount is inconsequential, but it would be nice to have been made aware of this from the beginning when placing our order or asking for more chips or salsa. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants around that have the same quality food without the hidden fees. read more

The food was amazing, it came out hot which was perfect. I had the enchiladas and my husband had the super nachos. It was more than enough to take some home for leftovers. The service was great! They continued to check on us and made sure our cups were full. Very mediocre, but with the prices you would think it would be top notch. Server came to table once to refill waters (didnt ask how food was) and we didnt see her again until she brought the check. 1 small basket of chips and 1 small cup of salsa were complimentary, then $6.00 to refill chips!?!? $12.00 for large basket. First "mexican" restaurant in my life that chips n salsa werent complimentary with etrees. Vegas of all places is supposed to be the Capital of Complimentary things. Not anymore, everything and everyone in this city now is trying to get over on you. No salt/pepper shakers at the tables, no condiments at all on any tables that I saw. I saw so many good reviews so decided to try it. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is NOT the place. Firstly, their horchata is from a soda machine, I mentioned they might have ran out of syrup since it tasted almost like nothing and the server told me that was just how it tasted, she knew it tasted bad lol Secondly, their tamales are frozen. I ordered chicken flautas, I didn't read the whole description sadly. They are from flour tortillas and they add a ton of cheese inside. That's not a flauta, more like a chimichanga. The rice was old and hard. And the prices are not cheap. I wouldn't mind paying it if the food was good though. Service was good. read more

Service has gone downhill. I come here once or twice a month and today service was rude and just sucked.

Wow. Very refreshing and delicious. It is so nice to find a good Mexican restaurant. This is next door to Surf City Grill/Bar. It is connected to the place, they share the same bathroom. You can smell the cigarette smoke from surf city. It was unpleasant. The second we sat down, they brought out warm chips, salsa, and I was surprised they gave us frijoles with melted cheese. It was all so good! The seasoning on their chips is so flavorful! I ordered the two item combo with a beef burrito and a chicken enchilada. They offer ground beef, shredded beef, or shredded chicken. The shredded beef tasted the best. We ate all our chips so when my meal came out I wanted more chips. They said they do charge $1 extra for another basket. It is definitely worth it. We came on a Saturday afternoon, most places have menudo. But they do not offer menudo. Regardless everything had so much good flavor. The portions were great. Same style restaurant. Family friendly for years. Service used to be fantastic. But those of us have gone there for years are in for a big surprise. Chips which used to be plentiful are now $6 for a refill (small basket) $12 for large basket. Service really slow. Not many check-ins by waitress. How about $18 for a bean and cheese burrito? From the outside it looks like a small Mexican shop, but once you walk in it's actually huge. There are tall booths to sit in which I thought was nice to have because your in your own space and your not almost touching the person behind you if you sit back. Bathroom was clean and fully stalked with toiletries. They have a full bar that is down the hall from the restrooms like a whole other section of the Resturant. They automatically bring out a large bowl of salsa and fresh hot seasoned chips. The servers were attentive, very polite and friendly. Our server had a smile every time he walked to his tables. The other servers helped with refilling our drinks without even having to ask. Margaritas are $10 and very strong. Large menu with a variety of things to order. They are on the pricy side especially since the dish is mostly rice and beans. The combo plate ordered was two Crispy chicken tacos with one Chile relleno menu states $17.99 but we were charged $19.99 so not sure why there was an extra charge. The tacos were delicious and when you took a bite there was a nice cheese pull. As for the Chile relleno I'm very picky, I know majority of Mexican restaurants pre make Chile rellenos and microwave them when ordered. Definitely not fresh tasting but what can you expect the egg batter was soggy and the Chile was tough, lacked flavor. The Chile Colorado also wasn't very authentic tasting, the beef cubes were tough and not tender the sauce had a tomato from a can taste but their mexican rice and beans were good. I don't think that $20.99 was a good value at all. The Carnitas plate on the other hand was delicious I would say that was the best plate some nice crunchy pieces of pork and some very tender soft pieces. It was $17.99. Over all there probably the best I have had in the area for a sit down. I'd come back for carnitas!! read more

When my family and I want Mexican food, we normally order from here and have no issues. This time I placed a pickup order and when my son got home, part of my food was missing. I replied to my email confirmation that said it came from the restaurant. However, it actually was coming from a third party service. Of course they don't monitor email responses. So my son called the restaurant only to be told that they were closing and couldn't help him. They weren't closing for another 30+ mins. There was no real customer service to address the issue. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to call again early enough to not get excuses. I am very disappointed. read more

The salsa & chips were so good. I judge many Mexican restaurants on that alone. I ordered taquitos & they were pretty good also. Wasn't a fan of the guacamole but everything was still good & I didn't have to ask for a refill. I probably had 3 refills so they are attentive. It's alright. Had lunch here on a Saturday. Wasn't busy at all, only a few others sitting. Service was fairly quick. I ordered "flautas" and received this. If this is was they call flautas this is definitely not it. These are more of chimichangas, not flautas. Plates are chipped, this is completely unacceptable. chipping can get into food, people could cut themselves alongside of the plates, throw those plates away! Rice and beans are dry. Lettuce on the plate is pretty tacky, I get it's for presentation but this lettuce was nearly wilted. The other workers were mainly on their phone. If it's slow, I get it but not to where we can see you. Prices are ridiculous especially when the food is alright. The tip is added on the receipt, BUT it's just a suggested gratuity/tip. You do not need to pay the amount on the receipt. Keep in mind, tips are not required, therefore tip your desired amount. read more

The food was NOTHING like the photos on the website. Everything from the bean dip to the Steak Enchiladas were terrible. Oh and let's not leave out the cigarette smoke coming from the bar that blanked the room upon walking in. It's actually a bar called Surf City with an addition to the Mexican food. This place is pretty close to where I work so I stop by every now and then when I feel like treating myself. From the outside it looks a little bit sketch and not exactly labeled too well with their signage, but inside it has a pretty cool vibe. This most recent time I had the vegetable enchiladas. I was surprised how good these really were. They were packed full of flavorful, roasted vegetables and came with a side of rice and beans as well. The only downside to this place is I feel like their chips & salsa isn't as good as another local competitor, but their menu is definitely better. Either way I'll keep coming back. This place is easy to miss as it is in a shopping center but not facing the street address that is given. It is part of the Surf City Bar and Grill but has it's own entrance and is child friendly. We have been there 4 times in the past few months and never been disappointed. The first time was a party of eight, and another time was a party of six. Once just my wife and I, and the last time we ordered takeout. We have not yet been disappointed , nor have our guests. I should add that my wife and I are vegetarians and they have a nice selection.
