Everything was absolutely superb! You can really taste the quality of their house-made tortillas and house-marinated meats. Plus, the portions are huge! The restaurant was packed, and it is easy to see why. The vine is super cool with lively high energy social atmosphere! Since it was so busy, we initially ordered our food to-go because there were no open seats. However, the coolest guy at the register (I forgot to ask his name!) went above and beyond. He asked us to wait a moment and personally got a table ready so we could dine in. His phenomenal service, knowledge, and great personality truly topped off our experience. I have found a little hair in my food the last two times I've come here. First time was in a taco and second time was in my daughter's rice. The food was super underwhelming and not very flavorful. My boyfriend got the cali burrito (I think that's what it's called) and ended up throwing it all up not even 10 minutes after eating it. To make it worse when it came out the tortilla was cold and so were the contents of it. My mom also had to salt and pepper her chile relleno on top of trying to mix salsas with it to add more flavor. I grabbed a quick bite for dinner here before an event at the President Nixon Library recently. Honestly, the taste and authenticity of this establishment was stellar. The only drawback is that the food was quite fatty and tasted really bad for my health and I was starting to feel a bit of issues in my heart due to the amount of fat in the cheeses (which were out of this world delicious, like authentic Mexican cheeses). My #1 food priority is to eat only the right foods but at a price point that is in my budget. I wasn't expecting the quesadilla to be this cheesy and fatty, but it was quite an experience and I respect that they sell the real stuff here. The MASA tortillas are out of this world, I could've just put a little butter on them and eaten them plain. I ordered the Carne Asada taco and shrimp taco, both were fantastic. The Carne Asada was great quality (and quantity) the meat was super tender and very flavorful. The shrimp taco was also delicious, the mango salsa was spectacular. We arrived before 6 PM so we were able to order a couple of items from the happy hour menu. My mom got two Carnitas tacos piled high with delicious tender pork Carnitas) we also had the nachos which were delicious. I'm not sure what they did with the onions on top (pickled maybe?) but I could've eaten a whole serving of those with a fork. The service was great the guy who took our order was super friendly and helpful. He broke down the menu (they have a lot of options) and also explained which were à la carte items and which were combo plates. I already can't wait to share this place with my family and friends! The portions were decent considering the prices, but I was disappointed when my tortilla crumbled while eating my carnitas taco. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service from a variety of staff members. They were all so welcoming when we mentioned it was our first time there. Tequila is the only spirit served here, in addition to a few beer and wine options. It's not a large restaurant, so it filled up quickly by 6:00pm. Bar seating is limited (about 10 seats). Order at the counter, receive a number, and a runner brings the food to the table. Nothing fancy. Prices on the regular menu are high for basic Mexican food, so I will only be returning during HH. Parking was plentiful. There is an entrance on Lakeview that may be easier to enter/exit for some folks than the one on Imperial Hwy. read more

Honestly I expect to be more impressed by all the great reviews. The food was good, not great. The carne asada tastes like plain steak(no marinade or anything). Chicken was also kind of plain. I had to go up and ask for a refill on my drink. You have to pay for chips and salsa. I guess maybe you have to want all the toppings on the tacos or they don't have a lot of flavor. We always drove by and wanted to visit Que Vida after they replaced the original Mexican restaurant that was here. Finally was able to order to-go via their online app. Super easy to navigate and user friendly. We came in and I wished we just stayed to sit down and eat. You are greeted with a nice looking bar and some TVs, the inside looks to have been updated and is nice. Now I know I can come here for games and sit at the bar.
