Ranch Enchilada Restaurant has been a staple in Yorba Linda for over 15 years, and after passing by it for so long, we finally decided to stop in for dinner. Came to Ranch Enchilada Restaurant on Friday night and seeing good traffic of patroons. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is bigger than it appears and has a bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We were seated right away, and the wait staff were welcoming and available throughout the meal. I even got a refill on my chips! Yum. The complimentary chips and salsa were a great start, and the menu offers a great selection with plenty of options to choose from burritos to tacos and everything in between. We ordered a variety of dishes, and the portions were generous overall. The guacamole appetizer felt a bit pricey, but it was fresh and tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Absolutely loved the feeling and ambiance walking into ranch enchilada, it reminds me of how restaurants used to feel when I was a kid (warm, decorated, traditional).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The host and servers always had a smile on their face, one thing I absolutely loved. They've got a spacious menu, and it was hard to choose but I went with el brasero and some cheese enchiladas. Both came out quick, service was fast and we had chips and salsa to keep us occupied as well. All the flavors were amazing, the chimichangas were crispy, filled with meat, and rice and beans also tasted great. Enchiladas were plentiful, sauce was superb. Had my first visit, was not impressed but can't complain. For the price paid, my party of three felt well fed and overall satisfied. The quality has really gone down. I ordered chicken flautas and they were soggy and wet, no crunch on them at all. Also way too filled with chicken and nothing else. The food wasn't terrible, it just lacked basic Mexican food spices, this includes the rice and refried beans... very bland. My daughter didn't even want to finish her ground beef taco, she said it just tasted weird. When we mentioned it was our first visit, the staff was so welcoming and gave us great recommendations on what to order. It seemed like everyone was in on a secret race. They walked by, dropped the chips on the table. Walked by again, dropped the salsa on the table. I felt like I had to talk fast as they barely stopped to take the order. They dropped the dinner plate onto the table as they walked past. No warmth or welcoming feeling noted at all. Walking distance from our house so we decided to give this place another try. Went here once before but I didn't review it and I don't recall loving it but also not hating it. Walked here with the hubs on this sunny Thursday afternoon. Restaurant was quiet with a few customers, we were seated immediately. Has a very small family owned feel to it. The restaurant is located across the street from Veteran's Park and has a small parking lot that does tend to get busy if there is a baseball game going on. Restaurant is clean and plays lively mexican music with traditional decor in the dining area. There is outdoor seating that has some shade. Complimentary salsa and chips was good. Chips were fresh and crispy, you can tell it hasn't been sitting around long. I asked for the spicier salsa and that had a nice kick to it but since I liked the flavor to the original salsa, I just mixed the two since I prefer mine spicier. My hubs ordered the fish fillet which came with lots of good veggies. So good that my hubs was finished with the veggies before the fish, which is rare for him. The fish had a good amount of sauce drenched on top but it didn't over power the fish and it was still flaky and light. Very good. I ordered the mini beef tostada combo with chile rellano. I have had this place bookmarked for quite some time and after hearing my wife say she was hungry for mexican food, I remembered this bookmark and offered up the suggestion since I knew they were open on Memorial Day. The place is located in a small center near the corner of Yorba Linda and Valley View in Yorba Linda across from the Dunkin Donuts and Fuji Grill. As we walked inside the place was empty except for one couple in a back table and no one was working the front. Just as I was about to seat myself a gentleman arose from the back and told us to take a seat wherever we liked. We quickly grabbed a booth near the door and he returned with menus and chips/salsa as well as took the drink order. After looking the menu over several times and changing my mind several times as well I was ready to order and went with the Ranch Enchilada combo (a choice of three items.off a list as well as rice and beans). I opted for the taco, cheese enchilada and chile relleno. I enjoyed each of the items and would order any of these again. The price point for this qas about what I expected and truly allowed me to try several options I was looking at simultaneously which is always nice. My wife went with the one enchilada suiza and seemed to enjoy her dish as well. The meal was ended with a couple complimentary cinnamon chips that accompanied the bill (my least favorite part of any meal lol). Overall I was quite pleased with the experience and will definitely return here again. My only gripe is never being offered or given a refill on either of our iced teas which seems to be a common occurence I run into these days and it really irks me. Quality food, satisfactory service and an average price point on most dishes. I hope to return again sometime soon. read more
