The Food was so good! The chips are crunchy and warm. You get mild salsa and hot salsa. I had the Red Chili Wet Beef Burrito. It was tasty. This is a generous burrito can easily be shared. We stopped by Sunday early afternoon and sat in the bar area, which turned out to be a mistake. We were basically ignored. We got chips right away and eventually a beer, and that was it. The bartender seemed far more interested in talking to people at the bar than helping us. At least there was TVs to watch waiting for some service which was nonexistent here. We were about to move to the dining area when the bartender finally came over to take our order. I asked for no onions and ordered a Bloody Mary. The food came out with onions, and the Bloody Mary never showed up at all. Kind of wondered why we even had to order and just let them bring out what they think you want or don't want. We also received some guacamole which we never ordered. WTF???!!!??? couldn't even get our order right. We were just forgotten as the bartender never came around to check anything. She just stayed at the bar area talking to a few people that she knew. If you're not going to provide service than way go to work???? This place is terribly managed, and honestly, it's not surprising that most of the other locations have closed. If you want any kind of service, don't sit in the bar area. The food itself was decent, but it doesn't matter much when they can't follow simple requests--or just don't care. This was my last visit. Good luck. read more

Esther's Taco House is absolutely legit. From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the vibe immediately felt right. The place has two bars, which adds to the atmosphere, but the real star is the food--hands down amazing. If you know what good green and red sauces are supposed to taste like, they have them. Both salsas were spot-on, and the second salsa had a solid kick--decently spicy and absolutely delicious. The homemade tortilla chips were fresh, warm, and addictive, which already sets the tone for a great meal. This is definitely a place we will be coming back to. It genuinely reminded me of an old spot in Bellflower, east of St. John Bosco, called Esther's Tacos--and that is not an easy comparison to live up to. However, playing non-Spanish music in a Mexican restaurant seemed somewhat incongruous. As for the food, I ordered three tacos - carnitas, al pastor, and carne desebrada. Unfortunately, only one out of the three met my expectations. The salsa had a perfect balance of heat. In contrast, the Carne Asada platter was disappointing, with the meat lacking tenderness and flavor. Given the subpar experience, I wouldn't recommend returning. I've dined here a few times for lunch with some friends, and it's always been a pleasant experience. Esther's is a chill, local-feel Mexican joint with an inviting, casual space. It has booths, a couple of bars, and tables. However, there is no patio seating. There are also plenty of TVs to enjoy some games with your meal and drinks. I've tried several items on the menu and found them all enjoyable and filling. My recent favorites are the quesadillas, the crispy flautas combo plate, and the crispy shell tacos. The lunch combos are great if you don't want a huge meal, but they still fill you up enough to last the rest of the afternoon. The service and staff are friendly and attentive. They check on us regularly, make sure our drinks and food are good, and clear out used dishes promptly. I can't wait to enjoy another meal here. read more

Plate served with 1 chile relleno, a lot of melted cheese on top and covered in a green sauce, rice had no flavor and the beans were not good either. I opened up this large quart size container and Imagine my disappointment when I had 2 only 2 meatballs in that entire container. Usually my experiences at this restaurant are pleasant, but today was a big let down. I came in for lunch as a party of 2 on a Sunday afternoon at about 1 or 2pm. We waited a few minutes to be seated while two servers were chatting with the kitchen. We were told we could sit wherever we like once a bigger party arrived behind us. We seated ourselves at a table that was very visible to the kitchen. We received our chips and salsa right away but were never given menus or waters. Several minutes had passed and many staff members overlooked us and I looked around and the party that came in after us already had menus and was likely getting their order taken. Me and my party felt invisible to the staff. It seems unfair to be more hospitable to the bigger party; it gives off the impression that the bigger party is more important because they restaurant will make more money off of their tab. We were waiting about 20 minutes and still had not received menus or been offered waters or drinks, so we left after feeling overlooked and invisible. If you're planning on coming here, maybe just get takeout so you don't get ignored by talkative servers. read more
