    Pollo a la brasa
    Jose G.

Hot damn! Que rico! It's rare to find good Peruvian pollo a la brasa. Well, the search is over because the pollo a la brasa here is phenomenal. On God, no cap, as the kids say nowadays! Service is friendly and the place is cozy and clean with an open air kitchen. This place will not disappoint!!

The restaurant is spacious and the tables are not cramped so you can sit comfortably. The atmosphere is relaxed, casual and a with music in the background. Service is polite and very attentive, they come to your table often to know if you need something. And now the food... yes, it really taste like Peruvian food with the right ingredients. I liked their Lomo Saltado (even thought I think they can improve the quality of the meat), their Causa Acevichada is fantastic and the Anticuchos have a very good flavor. Adding to the regular Peruvian menu they have some dishes from what we call "Chifa" in Perú (Chinese restaurants), I think it's worth to try it. I've been like 8 times in this restaurant and I still didn't have the chance to try the Pollo a la Brasa (Roasted Chicken) because they are always out of it... in one side I'm disappointed and in the other I know their chickens are made fresh daily BUT they have to recalculate how many they need to prepare a day so they have enough until 8 PM. In general, a good Peruvian restaurant with a limited amount of traditional dishes . I'll be coming back when I am in the area. ** Supposedly they cook some traditional dishes for the lunch specials.

My husband got a beef dish with rice and a fried egg on top with French fries. He thoroughly enjoyed the dish. For dessert we got rice pudding. It was really good. We also tried the traditional Peruvian drink that is made with purple corn and cinnamon. It was delicious. If you are adventurous I highly recommend it. The service was quite attentive and our server was very friendly and helpful. There are about 15 tables to seat many and they aren't crammed together. If you like to try new cuisines like we do, this needs to be on your list.

LOL Mambo's Cafe is located in Buford, Ga which is Northeast of Atlanta. When we entered the restaurant after our 5k, we were seated immediately and I will say Im glad we showed up when we did, because when we left people were everywhere waiting to be seated. So, Our waitress was amazing, she didnt miss a beat all the questions we had, she answered! We started off a complementary garlic bread with a Verde sauce. It was green with a pinch of spicy, but it was very good. Next, we ordered the beef empanadas and they cut them up for us so that everybody could sample them. They were so good. I had to get an order to go to take them home to my husband. For my drink, I ordered a pink lemonade. It was almost like I needed some sugar and I knew that would hit the eight spot even though it was carbonated it still was good. For the main train I went with ANGUS CHURRASCO STEAK!! Medium well of course! Wowwwwww!! This steak was top-tier. I enjoyed every bit of it, and what I could eat. Of course, I had to take the rest of them. It came with an option of beans I went with black beans plantains in a Spanish rice, which was amazing. The chimichurri sauce that came on the steak was was flavorful yeah, I even asked for some to take home and verde sauce as well. Lol The steak was tender outside skirt steak grilled and topped with our famous chimichurri sauce (garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil). $28 My entire bill with $58 including the takeout empanadas I will most definitely be going back. I enjoyed every minute of this restaurant.

Lomo saltado is a Peruvian beef stir fry dish. Fun fact, the dish was created by Chinese Peruvians…read more I guess that makes sense why it is stir fried. The beef is cooked with onions, tomatoes, and fries. The dish is served with rice. Beef, potatoes, and rice is the foundation of a great dish. I had the chance to try lomo saltado for the first time many years ago, and I instantly fell in love. Rico Sabor Peruano is not the top result when searched, but a professional Yelper like myself could tell that it was probably the best choice. Once I walked into the restaurant, I knew I made the right choice. Rico Sabor Peruano evokes East LA vibes. The interior was not great, and the employee didn't speak English. I knew I was about to have one of the greatest meals of my life. After stumbling through the order with my early intermediate Spanish (Duolingo-level Spanish with a thick Gringo accent), I excitedly waited for my meal. The food was cooked in a reasonable amount of time, and the employee even proactively brought a bottle of hot sauce. How did she know? I'm happy to report that Rico Sabor Peruano perfectly lived up to my very high expectations. I'll definitely return for the lomo saltado. I may also try some of the great value dishes that other diners mentioned. The lomo saltado was worth every dime, but it still cost ~$20.

Today I had the Aguadito for my soup and for the rice I had the Seco de Pollo. The value is incredible. Give it a go here and you will not be disappointed. We didn't really need it since the restaurant was pretty empty, but we were a bigger group and didn't want to risk it. The hostess didn't confirm our reservation until about 10 mins prior, which was quite concerning, but everything worked out at the end anyway. Our server was wonderful! It was our first time here and he explained their background and what his favorites were on the menu. We for sure wanted to try the paella, so went ahead and ordered that first, with the carretillero ceviche, mixed empanadas (chicken and beef) and patatas bravos to start. The ceviche was delicious and fresh. Loved the fried calamari and all the toppings it was served with. The empanadas were also delicious and was served with a very spicy sauce! The patatas braves had a nice, smoky flavor. Now for entree, I ordered the veggie chaufa. Our server may have been a little biased as he preferred the Peruvian side of the menu, more so than the Cuban side. My dish was easily good for 2-3 people. It had tons of veggies and scrambled egg, plus served with a side of fried plantains. Our group ordered a bunch of other dishes and tried some of them. The churrasco steak was a little chewy but loved the chimichurri it was served with. The parrillada de mariscos was so good too, and my personal fave was the grilled octopus! Personally, I would opt for this instead of the valenciana paella. You essentially get the same types of seafood. I love that we got to dine at this hidden gem! We truly enjoyed our experience and will be back for sure.
