Very disappointed with their services. This is my 3rd time here and it seemed promising until the last visit. I came in for a pedicure and manicure (originally wanted powder gel but the wait was forever). First, the pedicure was not worth it. I got the spa package which is $45 for a "flavor in your water", clay mask on your legs, callus eliminator gel and 10 min foot massage. Overall deal was ok but the actual paint job was so bad. My toenails were cut so crooked and grooming was poor. I had to the tell the girl to fix something twice. She was nice but the skill was not there. As for the manicure, worst manicure ever seriously...Even down to the polish itself! I picked up a fun blue color by Essie but you can tell they use too much paint thinner to make it last longer because my nails are a CHIPPY mess. I sat under the dryer for 30 mins and my nails still smudged once I left. I had to come back 10 mins after leaving to fix it. A different girl fixed it and even she said my nails were poorly done. She even told me not to tip her because I shouldn't pay more for this nail job. The next day my nails chipped and there goes the $13 ($10 manicure plus $3 tip) spent on a manicure. By the 2nd day, my nails were such a mess and I had to take it off. I got my nails done Friday night yet I couldn't even make it to Monday to show off them off at work. I found my new nail salon! Queen A is a brand new, gorgeous, classy salon that just opened up in Astoria. The interior design is outstanding! They are clean and very sterile. Classy, modern, and rustic all together! I did my nails with Amanda, she made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I was super indecisive about what color to get and she gave me some suggestions. Of course, I ended up getting the powder gel the salon is promoting. I love how they weren't persistent about the topic. Anyways, I ended up loving the outcome of the product. Unfortunately I did not write this review after my first visit to this place because it was a great experience (I'll build on that a little). They did a great job managing their little space with 5 pedicure chairs and 8 manicure stations but still has plenty of room to maneuver from the door to the back of the house. The woman I had last time was awesome but didn't speak too much English (or made me believe it) but my fiance did not enjoy her woman's work. This time around it was reversed and my woman was horrible. She barely touched my feet with the pumas stone and didnt cut my nails short. I have been going to Queen A for 5 years now. They do an amazing job with powder gel, gel, and regular manicures. I always get "powder" and it never disappoints. If you're going to charge $40 for dip powder when other nail salons in the area are charging less, please make sure your employees know what they are doing and train them. My nails should not look like this. This was my first time coming here and I will not be returning. I've been getting dip powder on my nails for over 2 years and have never have had them look like this. Just an update: three chrome nails started to chip on my left hand two days after visiting the salon. I called and booked an appointment for the upcoming Saturday (today) because I tried to fix the chipping myself by filing the nails down, but that didn't work. When I came in again, Leo not only repainted my nails, but adjusted them to original size, for free! I'm new to Astoria and decided to give Queen A Nail a try, hoping it would become my new go-to nail salon.....and it is! The place is clean, the tools are clean, their nail polish selection is awesome (both regular & gel), their prices are super reasonable, and their hours are great. They have a ton of Essie and OPI for regular polish and CND, OPI, and one other (can't remember the name) for gel. Angie is my favorite - hands down. She does an impeccable job, particularly with the gel mani, and doesn't rush. Because of her attention to detail, I can go 3 or 4 weeks (!!!) before I need to get my nails redone. The staff is very nice and doesn't rush, they like to take their time in order to make sure that it's exactly what you want. RUN THE OTHER WAY! I hate having to write this because I've been going to this salon for a year now & I've enjoyed it but they gave me a crazy infection on my foot. In October (it's now June) I noticed what I just thought was some mild irritation on the side of my 2nd toe from the cuticle being cut poorly which happens in pedicures sometimes no one is perfect. I didn't think anything of it. This grew into what I think is a plantar wart though it might be a fibroma. I've done countless over the counter treatments: plantar wart salicylic pad bandages, freeze off, salt soaks, tea tree oil...it hasn't gone away and I'm going to have to get this surgically removed. I almost want to show a photo so you can all see how bad and painful this is but I don't want to post my feet online. Upon research I found this is caught from unclean utensils. I've never gone to another salon since going here so I definitely caught it there. I'm honestly just posting this not to ruin their business because I like this place and the people who run it, but I'm posting this so new customers can ask & check about the utensils being CLEAN and NEW before catching anything from this place. This is just hugely disappointing and inconvenient, something else I have to deal with now. read more

I've been coming here since we moved back to the neighborhood in February and I absolutely love it. I've had regular manicures and pedicures. I come once a week or so for my nails and I got my second pedicure today. The service is fantastic and Amanda is great at running a business. All the girls are fantastic. Everything is really clean, too. They even use plastic liners in the pedicure tubs. Prices are fair and reasonable! I can't wait to come in June for the powder gel manicure before my vacation. They don't honor appointments. The first time I went I had an appointment scheduled for an acrylic fill in and waited almost 30 minutes. They did do a pretty good job so I figured I would go back even though I was annoyed with the wait. This morning I sent a message to set up a fill in for the afternoon. They wrote back right away saying yes, it was all set.. I got there 5 minutes before my appointment, told them I had an appointment, verified the time.. they checked the book and told me to "sit for a few minutes." Almost 30 minutes later it became clear that none of them were anywhere close to being done with the customers they were working on, so I left. If you aren't going to honor appointments, don't take appointments. Operate as a walk in only. "Scheduling appointments" that you have no intention of fulfilling is bad business and poor customer service. For anyone who wants to go as a walk in and is fine with waiting, they did a pretty good job with my nails, but my regular place is better and has never kept me waiting more than 5 minutes when I have an appointment scheduled (I was looking for a placer closer to home but will happily continue with the 20 minute walk to get good service) read more
