I have NO idea how this place has such high ratings. I've attached a picture of my nails ONE DAY after getting them done here. I got dazzle dry. I get the same thing every time I get my nails done. Same color, same amount of coats, and same length; I have NEVER had a whole nail pop off or chip this badly one day after getting them done. It was also extremely uncleanly. I didn't see them sanitize a cuticle cuter or nail clipper before passing them from one customer to the next once. They also asked me to pay AND TIP before I even got the service done. I have never had a place ask me to tip them, let alone before the service was even completed before. Tipping is a complementary touch, which I always do. I paid $35 (plus the tip they asked me for upfront) for a manicure I will now have to redo myself one day after getting them done. Don't waste your time or money. read more

I came here after having a very disappointing powder manicure elsewhere, just one week ago. I was taken on time for my 230 appointment. The tech was very nice but I must admit that the drill she used to remove my old polish hurt me a bit. I think my nails were feeling hot and it occasionally came too close to my cuticles. My cuticles were a little red when the manicure was finished. My nails look beautiful, I was astounded by the amount of powder choices they have, but I think next time I will tell her to be more gentle with the drill. I also want to note that she did not trim or push back my cuticles. On another note, the place is a bit grungy, not what I have been used to. Hole in the wall kind of place! Walked in for a regular manicure and I was assigned to Michelle. She really didn't say much to me during the whole thing which I actually liked. She was gentle with my nails and did a great filing and cuticle removing. She painted my nails with extreme precision and detail. Meticulously done in about 20 or so minutes. I haven't had a manicure this good in Manhattan! Don't come here if you want a lavish spa experience but if you want the most perfectly filed and polished nails, ask for Michelle! U and Me offers gel manis for only $28 and powder for $38. There is no other nail salon in the UES with a $28 gel manicure. Maybe not even in the city! The person who did my nails was perfect. She was so meticulous, paid great attention to detail and I really don't think I've had a better manicure before. SNS Powder nails last 3 weeks and aren't overpriced at $50 a set (no tips). It took me years of trial and error to find somewhere with a good manicure that lasts and I am so happy to have found it! I tried here after searching "best dip manicures UES" and found results about their extensive color choices and overall good spot. I went on a Monday night around 6 and they were quite busy, to the point they had to turn away/schedule walk ins for the next day. I came earlier than my appointment and they gave me a spot to sit and wait. The reviews were NOT kidding with the dip options - there had to be at least 200! I went in knowing what I wanted, but you could spend hours looking at the options. The women who did my nails was extremely efficient and good, and after a mess up and apologies on her part completed my nails to perfection. She was quiet but very kind any time I spoke to her. They have lots of colors to choose from. I ended up choosing a color from OPI. I didn't notice as the tech was cutting and shaping my nail but once I left I realized how bad the gel powder looked. They are very thick and not even, one of my finger nails looks wider than my actual finger. Major lack of attention to detail. Also, maybe they just don't do this but no lotion or hot towel to clean hands which I'm used to at every other nail salon I've been to. The Upper East Side is packed with nail salons, most of the decidedly mediocre variety. So, with nothing but ragged cuticles and hope in my heart, I walked into U and Me, and got one of my best gel manicures ever for a steal at $28. Both of the manicurists I had so far were meticulous and totally responsive to my pickiness about nail shape. In the end, I got a great gel manicure that lasted three weeks with nary a chip. And, when I returned for another manicure, not only did they remember me after being there only once before, they removed the gels free of charge. Definitely a no frills nail salon. I just moved into Manhattan from the suburbs and am on a venture to find my regular spot, no one compares to my girl Paola in New Rochelle! Anyway, walked in (no appts after 5p) for a pedicure and didn't have to wait at all. The pedicure chairs are basically sinks, nothing fancy at all. I didn't like the fact that they reuse nail files; I will bring my own next time. The tools did come out of the sanitizer machine though. UPDATED REVIEW: increases the stars to 4/5 because my second visit was much better than the first. Got a pedicure and gel manicure for $50. Did a great paint job and filing/shaping job. Prices are the best for this area and service is great. The only reason why I'm not giving this a higher rating is because the initial nail technician I had didn't really know how to file and shape my nails that well. The owner ended up stepping in to shape them and they turned out great. The rest of tpaint job and cuticle cutting process was fine by the nail technician. Honestly for the price, you can't beat it! It's $28 before tax/tip for the gel manicure. They didn't charge for removal either, which is always a positive. I ended up spending $29.26 after tax on my credit card and paid about $6 in tip. read more

Great nail salon for SNS. My go-to for the past year. The staff is great and everyone is meticulous. Great polish selection as well! Also love the massage while my nails are drying. My issue is that I cannot get a pedicure there, as I like a big comfortable massage chair, which they don't have. Get those chairs and I will be back every month! read more

Found this place solely for its location to my house. I had recently ripped my SNS nails off because they were lifting so bad so as you can imagine my nails were looking like absolute hell. I called them at 8pm when I was getting back from work to see if they could fit me in before they closed at nine. My nail tech (I wish I got her name) was so sweet and detail oriented I was incredibly impressed. She perfected every detail to the point that she stayed almost a half hour past close to make sure everything was perfect. You'd never guess how bad my nails looked prior. I'm actually going to disregard my embarrassment of how atrocious my nails were before and post a before & after pic to this post. Anyways, 10/10 would recommend. (Getting tips added made this set more expensive than before, but typically they do SNS for just $43). read more

Second time at this place and I arrived at 2 asking if there was enough time for a gel manicure bc I had to leave at 2:40. They told me it would take 30 minutes and I'd be done by then. I told the manicurist I didn't need to cut cuticles or file and by 2:27 she was still filing my nails and cutting cuticles. I looked at the time and got worried she'd wouldn't finish, and asked if we would be done by 2:40. She said no it would not be done in time, so I just paid 35% deposit for filing my nails and left. I don't think they believed when I said I had to be done by 2:40 (to pick up my son). Would not recommend and suggest you go to Rose Nails on the next block. read more

I'm a little confused with all of the positive reviews here as my nails are still bleeding from my gel manicure and regular pedicure yesterday. First of all, it took almost 3 hours to get this done (usually it takes a 1-1.5 hours at most). The place seemed dirty to me as they have almost office chairs over a sink for your pedicure. The woman who did my nails kept trying to cut my cuticles even after I asked her to stop due to it hurting. I understand it's no frills but it's not like the prices reflect that - it cost $80 for my services plus tip! Too much. They have a great color selection and the women were nice but it turned what's supposed to be a relaxing experience into the opposite. read more

Best powder gel manicure, every time. I have been to a lot of nail salons for powder gel in the city. So many of them have not been trained on the proper way to do it. One place it chipped literally 2 days after and then again within 1 week. A regular gel holds up longer than that. With U and Me I get sick of the color before it starts to look dingy. The place itself is small and can't say I would get a pedicure since it's a bunch of salon chairs with sinks but the manicures are where it's at. They know what they're doing when it comes to gel powder. They have SO MANY COLORS. They work with you to get you the look you want. They are great at shaping and don't leave them super thick. I also love that they're fast. I HATE getting my nails done for hours so to be in and out in a little over an hour with me having to soak my previous set off....I couldn't be happier. Never going anywhere else. The prices are normal and depending on the brand range from I think $38-$42 but they have this weird charge of $5 if you want more than 2 coats or something. Weird but just a heads up. Can't speak for their other services but the gel powder is amazing. read more

I've had my nails done (powder) at least a dozen times now, different places even but this one by far has been the Most disappointing!! I mean the job was done well, but they need to get their color palate right. This was NOT THE COLOR I CHOOSE! All I'm saying is I've had better experiences at nail salons. Pedicure was good. The lady did good with cuticles and in growths, massage was 20 seconds each foot( I've experienced longer and not just for the heck of it kinda rub) Someone else did the manicure, buffed the nails and was about to jump straight to the powder dip (so what happened to cuticles and dead skin) and she exclaims "oh you want cuticles!?" isn't that a part of a manicure? Moving forward I notice that the shade is wayyyy brighter and looks pinkish from the actual color I chose that was orangish! I requested to see the palate once again to confirm if I made a mistake, looks like I did not. I was assured that the shade will look lighter at the end, and its too late to change! I still kept feeling that it did NOT look like what I choose, but I patiently waited and hoped I was wrong. And in the end... I HAD PINK!!! I was right! I did not see the point in arguing about this because eventually I would be convinced that this was what I asked for. So I'd rather put a review and warn who ever reads it, to be sure about the color and not end up wasting your money and ruin your mood (totally ruin) And also a friendly message to the owner to get the palate right or update it, since it's clearly not what it shows.
