I have been going to Queen A Nail now for just about a year and I absolutely love this place. I actually found them using Yelp. Everyone that works there is so nice and the place is kept very clean. Now let me talk about my girl Amanda, she is a nail genius!!! She is so incredibly talented and unbelievably sweet. I love getting powder gel manicures here. I work in the beauty industry and my hands are constantly in water so regular polish or gel just doesn't last on me. But with powder gel I always get at least 2 weeks which is amazing. If I could give my review LESS stars, I would rate this business a NEGATIVE 10 stars!! I made an appointment while walking by the business on a Sunday morning. I inquired what was a good time and asked if they had around 2 o'clock open for two people. The owner, Amanda, wrote down my appointment for two pedicures at 2pm! She also took down my name and phone number. My daughter and I arrived promptly at 2 pm and were told to pick out a polish and then waited to be seated. We sat at the designated spot and put our feet into cold water! Ugh!! OK - didn't complain about it as I know folks can't pay for constant hot water throughout the day. My daughter was attended to and the girl started on her pedicure at 2:10 pm. Not bad. I on the other hand waited, and Waited and WAITED some more. FINALLY, after 45 minutes I decided to leave! I told Amanda that I would NOT be retuning to her establishment (after visiting several times before). I also told Amanda that if she didn't have availability she shouldn't have booked my appointment!! There are MANY other nail establishments in the area. Why book me if you don't have anyone to do the service??!?! I recently moved to this area and I was looking forward to having this place be my new nail salon. The place is cute, clean and well appointed so I thought it would be a winner. Not So. For $20 the pedicure was rushed and underwhelming. Place only had one other person when I arrived so it wasn't crowded. The process lasted all of 15 minutes and consisted of nail clipping, a 1 sec file on each toe followed by flicking of the hand for what I assume passes for cuticle cutting. A 2 minute scrub followed by attendant asking if I'd like to have a longer foot massage. I said no and so she smeared some lotion on my legs then got a hot towel and wiped it off. Toes were then polished and I was off to the nail dryer with attendant giving a 45 second trap tug which I suppose was their version of a massage. (Yes, I timed that as well). I understand they aren't professional Massage Therapist but I've been to may share of nail salons and this "massage" was an epic fail. I'm not sure why only one other reviewer and myself had this experience. Other reviews attest to having had a fabulous experience..I sorely wish I could have had that that as well! Perhaps they chose the upgraded service. The good news? I'm a short train ride from my old place on UES where for $17 and about 30 minutes (sometimes more) of nail pampering, I don't leave feeling like I lit $25.00 on fire and watched it burn. read more

That's a level of attention I wasn't expecting! It's 4 days later, and the nails are still going strong, with only a minor scratch at the tips of my fingernails. i originally came here because of how amazing some of these reviews and pictures are and i was not disappointed! my nail technician, summer, did an amazing job with my dip powder nails. she took the time to listen to what i wanted, as i had brought in a photo for reference but wanted to change a few things. leo also helped advise me on how to get the stones placed on my thumb. a set of dip powder nails with tips is $48 here, which is the average price for salons around the area. after stones, chrome, and nail stickers, it only ended up being $66 before tipping. what a steal! the only downside is i got a pretty bad cut on my cuticle from the drill, but that's something i can overlook. i will definitely be coming here for my dip powder from now on, despite the 20 minute walk from my house, with my new loyalty card. nine more visits to go! read more

Yesterday was my first time here, they are very very busy but saw me with in like 7 minutes. An acrylic set is 38 bucks, fair. At the end this simple set ended up costing me 63 bucks! I asked how in the world did the price jump so far, she said using gel polish brings the price to 58! That's 20 bucks just to use gel polish, I've never herd of that, most salons charge 5 or 10 bucks but 20, I was shocked. Then she said it went from 58 to 63 because of the "design" I got a simple gold nail sticker on my ring finger. They are very expensive but I must admit the man that did my nails does BEAUTIFUL AND PRESISE WORK, the only thing is they are so busy he didn't even put lotion on my hands and give me that little hand massage that most places do when your nails are done. I wanted to do a spa pedicure but my nails came out more then expected so I got a basic pedi. One young girl did the actual pedi, and one lady painted them. The paint job is very nice, as far as my pedi she really didn't scrub my feet well at all. The prices are really bad but they do great work, hence why the place was so busy. I will go back because I haven't found a good nail salon in Astoria (I'm new to the area). I don't think she wants to be at work today. She barely scrubbed my feet, barley filed my toes..I had to tell her to file my toes evenly. Not much detail was paid to giving me a thorough pedicure. After she painted my toes she didn't clean the nail polish from around my toes. I, again, had to tell her to clean up the polish. Save your money and decline the "deluxe pedicure". I didn't even get a chance to enjoy. Total waste of money! I chose this nail salon because the reviews seems decent and it's far from my apartment. A little on the pricey side and they definitely sucker you into "choosing" what type of pedicure you want (they have a menu with four or five different scented options) those pedicures are $45. I really came because of the awesome reviews for powder nails, which is what I did. I loved the color I chose and they seem to be able to nail (no pun intended) the ombré look. So far my powder nails are going strong with not one chip or peel in sight. I will return, but hopefully can spend less. I do not like their pedicures as some of the technicians can be aggressive when removing gel polish which is concerning and they do not do a thorough buffing of the foot. This place is the worst nail salon I have been too and I'm a licensed esthetician, I was a first time client here an hour before they were closing and was getting a gel manicure and the manicurist made my nail bubble and got upset when I told her to fix it again cause she wanted to go home. They were all as a group talking about me and laughing and rolling their eyes in their Asian language which was so rude and made me come back the next day to fix this mess of a gel manicure. My friend and I had made 2 appointments at 5pm for a powder gel manicure. She's been a regular here so I decided to go with her rather than my usual place by work. We arrived early and waited, which was fine, we knew it would be busy for Halloween. One tech was available just after 5pm so I offered the spot to my friend and said I'd wait, assuming it would be shortly after her. 5 minutes turn into 10, and eventually one of the other techs suggests to her tech that she soaks my nails while I wait. Great idea, the other tech swings by and lets me know he'll be there in 5, then 3 min. I wait and wait, and then turn around and see all the techs have new customers. What? How'd they get in when I'd been waiting? I continued to wait. Well, now it's almost 6pm, my friend is almost done her manicure, and my nails are still soaking. Realizing that much exposure to acetone is probably no good, I take off the foil to entirely clean nails -- a bit alarming. Finally, ONE hour later someone comes to do my nails. My friend's manicure was done within 5 min of me starting mine. This is not what '2x 5pm appts should look like. No apology from anyone regarding the extreme delay. All in all, I spent 2 hours for a 1 hour job that wasn't even very clean. When I noticed one imperfection she said 'no it's too late now, nothing to do" in an agitated tone. I had to spend another 15 min at home trying to clean the edges. I was also told a matte coat would be $1 extra, not $7. If I knew it were regular gel, I would've just had a gel manicure to begin with and not powder gel. I told each of the 3 techs that I wanted matte and someone could've warned me about that first. At this time it was 6 pm and i walked in so tired and almost giving up but i needed my nails done for the next day. I've been here a few times but definitely won't be coming back. I made an appointment with Sarah specifically and she wasn't ready for me when I arrived (even though it's stated on Google that no walk ins are available due to COVID and you must make an appointment). After waiting for her for 30 minutes, another technician proceeded to do my nails (without even asking) and unfortunately did a terrible job. She didn't even apply the clear top coat evenly and my nails were left looking discolored, streaky and bubbled. Very disappointed especially because a gel manicure here costs $33 and I always tip generously despite being told to do so via the posted signage on each station. read more

I got a powder gel her recently and it was absolutely horrible. The male technician had no idea what he was doing. 1) He uses the electric File before even starting (no!!! This is terrible and ruins the nail!!! You should just buff) 2) my nails were so thick and oddly shaped and he failed to fix it with a file 3) after he applied the top coat there were bubbles and it was so thick it made my nail shape look even worse and 4) he finished the powder color and told me I was done. No cuticle cutting, no massage, no lotion, no nothing. Are you kidding me??! I really wanted to like Queen A. Leo and Amanda do impeccable work which is why this review isn't 1 star. This was my first time going. Firstly, the woman I started with cut my tips off but cut them so short where there was no room for my natural nails to even be there where I had to get tips again. She also did my pedicure. Leo's work is precise, I got french with different colors. Came out great, i loved it! I went home and went to open the refrigerator and my tip broke. Called and they said come back and we'll fix it, great. I went back the next day and Amanda fixed my broken nail identically to how Leo did my nails. I realized that another nail was chipped. Amanda fixed it and then did two extra coats of gel on top. I left and I was happy even with having to go back because I thought they'd last. A week later, half my gel manicure and pedicure chipped. It makes me sad because I wanted to come back. Unfortunately I will not because they were expensive and I expect them to last. read more
