The principal value of a craft brewery is that the beer should be good. Unfortunately theirs isn't. They have a very large variety, but they are hit and miss at best, and several brews are almost undrinkable. There is no food, so bring or call delivery. The service is quite good, and it is a nice facility, just sub par beer. read more

Visiting while on a cross country road trip and enjoyed our few beers and chatting with the bartender (tired and forgetting her name at the moment). She was very kind and share much history about the brewery. Our IPA's were excellent and she was also helpful guiding us where to park our truck and trailer. Tons of good beers to try at Queen City Brewing. Sangria and seltzer's also available. We tried a lot of 6 oz pours but could not get through them all. Belgium's were some of our favorites, coffee beer helped perk me up for our next destination, sangria was a nice dessert like finish. Great way to spend and afternoon. A good amount of indoor and outdoor seating, popcorn and sodas available, and dartboard to pass the time. read more

I was excited about visiting Queen City Brewing - based on all the glowing reviews on Yelp. I visited on a Tuesday evening - there were only 3 other customers in the place when I arrived. I ordered a flight of IPAs - maybe I tried the wrong beers - but none of them were very good. A couple of them had a slight funky odor to them that reminded me of mildew - or something. Anyhow - my flight consisted of: Brass Knuckle IPA (5.5% ABV) Bionic Rabbit IPA (6.8% ABV) Falstaff's Revenge (6.7% ABV) Jackalope IPA (11.0% ABV) King Rabbit IPA (9.5% ABV) The only Ale out of the group that I'd be able to drink a pint of was the Brass Knuckle IPA. The last three I tasted - meaning I took a sip, and left the rest of the Ale in the glass. Which is a rarity for me. The service was very good. I doubt I will be back. read more

Tonight was open mic night. Queen City looks like a converted 7-11. Lots of room inside at a long bar and plenty of outdoor seating. There was a large beer selection but tonight we sampled the ciders and sangria. The three ciders were Apple, Ginger, and Cranberry. The Apple was sweet with just the right bit of tartness. Ginger was dry but drank well. The bartender said many folks do a 50/50 split with ginger and other ciders. The cranberry drank very easy and smooth with no alcohol bite. We also had the red sangria which was also nice but I preferred the Cranberry which surprised me, a Sangria girl. read more

Since we're from out of town we weren't able to participate in the brew process but they guy there still gave us a whole tour and explained the beer making process. He gave us a free tasting of the beers and wines (which were waaaay too sweet) and we ended up with a pint glass and growler for the way home. Not too shabby. read more

I hate to give such a bad review but honestly this is hands down the worst brewery I've ever been to. I wanted to like it because of the large outside deck and large selection of beers.Came on a Saturday night and there were only 3 other people in the place which should have been our first indication. We sampled 8 different beers ranging from stouts, a porter, IPA, ales, Belgians, and one fruit beer. All were absolutely disgusting and tasted like mildew/nail polish remover. I have been driving past this place for months and haven't been here yet? What. the. heck. Located in a quiter part of town, this unassuming frontage hides a true gem. A small brewery with a huge selection of delicious, delicious beers. Staffed with knowlegable bartenders and well done, tastefully decorated tasting room (all centered around the heart of the operation, the brewing machinery). A very ambitions menu of beers (I didn't find one yet that I wouldn't have again) and downright reasonable prices (their growler prices are on par with what I am used to paying for a beer here in NoVa). They also offer a tasting flight (5, 5oz) as well as offer you the option of taking home a tapped for you variety 6 pack, a growler and something called a "pig" which holds about 5 growlers worth of beer. One thing, bring your own food. This place does not have anything but pretzels, and with potency of the beer I would strongly recommend that you have something to sop it up. read more

Craft-beer crazed hubby and I visited this quaint local establishment and had a fantastic time. The beer selection is extensive and delicious! A large board of current brews makes for a fun game of lottery with their very reasonable tasting flights. Hubby recommends the King Rabbit, and even though I'm not much of a beer drinker, I found their apricot brew to be a super tasty treat. Fun fact: They also make their own wine and even their own sodas, and interested home brewers can bottle their own brew at one of their special brewing events. Just realized this was here This was our second brew pub stop of the day. Being from Staunton but having left 30years ago, we do get. We visit family a few times a year and always seek out different places to eat and drink. Location was nice, near the park. The place good use a little work but does look like they are trying to work on it. Bathrooms were a little gross. Beer selection was good. I was really surprise by the root beer that was real beer. It tastes EXACTLY like root beer. Get the flight sample. No food in the place but there was a food truck outside. Kids were able to place with sidewalk chalk provided. We sat outside on a perfect spring day. read more

Not a bad brewery and i liked that they had 2 ounce pours, so we were able to try a number of their beers and they do have a good amount on tap. There are some hits and some misses, depending on your pallet, but there should be something that you will find you like. A little more expensive than other breweries in the area, but it is worth stopping by. read more

Great beer selection. When ever I can be in the area when they are open I make the effort. Better then average beers and some are seriously above average. Great for Growler fills and even individual bottles for a longer self life, all at reasonable prices. Make the trip and plan to stay awhile. Great on a Friday night. My favorite brewery in Staunton by far (If not anywhere, ever and I travel a lot)! Everything is delicious from the dark beers to the super fruity! Lots of options for all different preferences. The atmosphere inside is perfect for the brewery style and there is outdoor seating on the front porch with heaters. There's a delicious chicken sandwich food truck called The Saucy Bird that serves food during the dinner hours. I can't say enough good things about the beer! read more

One simply cannot go wrong with this place. Over 20 brews to choose from (maybe a negative because it's too hard to decide sometimes) and managers Dominic and Teresa (and the baby) are over the top with affability. This is a very small place with the small vats right in the middle of the sitting area and bar. Very interesting. A family friendly pub and a place that shouldn't be missed while in town. Check out the hours, music times, and food trucks that frequent the place, if possible. This place seems to be getting more popular as the months go on. I go for the Speckled Rooster. read more

Excellent brewery. My husband and I are driving from California to the east coast. Driving through Virginia we searched for breweries and chose Queen City based on a Yelp reviews. We found a gem. Family owned and operated with a large selection of beers to choose from. We love our hoppy IPAs and were very pleased with the selections. The family running the show are very warm and welcoming. We had a great time talking and taking a break from our long drive. The town of Staunton is a gem in itself. Highly recommend this brewery! read more

Stopped by Saturday night after riding some miles in the Shenandoah fall foliage festival. This place is a gem! Excellent beer selection, with something for every palate. We got a sampler with three IPAs, a bock, and a Belgian trippel. Amazing flavors on all the styles. They also have lagers, ales, fruit beers, a nice selection of dark beers, homemade sodas, and some yummy cocktail-esque brews. My personal favorite is the Falstaff's Revenge, described on the menu as " an unrestrained indulgence of hops"- but with a really nice, crisp finish. I'd say it is one of my absolute favorite VA beers, and I've sampled my fair share! Very cool on the inside, and probably the best growler prices I've ever seen. $13 for an 11% local craft ipa? Queen City brewery might not be much to look at considering it's an old 7-Eleven, but don't let looks deceive you this is a top notch brewery. The Brewer and his wife were extremely hospitable and friendly and very knowledgeable and he is not afraid to share his knowledge with you. The overall experience of drinking some beers was fantastic the brewmaster is very humble I tried 7 out of all the beers that were listed on the board and six scored 4 out of 5 stars or higher on untappd I would highly recommend this brewery to anyone who likes and brews good beer. The master brewer is also pretty good at darts. read more

My wife and I were visiting the Staunton ,VA area on a Tuesday and found the only brewery open was QUeen CityBrewing . Although there was an impressive number of beers listed (approx 3 dozen) , as an admitted hop head I was very disappointed with the IPA's ,not to mention all of the beers (even my wife's lighter beers) all had the similar fruity taste usually associated with ale yeast. We were assured they used different yeast in the beers, but the similarity of flavor profile and lack of bittering,flavor,and hop aroma left me disappointed. We tried a sampler of 5 beers each plus one additional and were a bit surprised at the $22 tab. My fault for not asking, but was certainly more expensive the the 2 days previous sampling at Three Notch Brewery and Starr Hill Brewery which bay far had the best beer. Signed; Not a Fan read more

My personal favorite was the BlackBerry Sangria and the Summer Sangria. I can say this is one of my personal favorite places to go in Staunton. read more

We love our local brewery. The best in town. (Believe it or not this tiny town has a few). Excellent beer and just good people.

I have never been some place with such great people. Brewmaster listens to feedback and will either tweak his own brew or help you with you personal concoction. The beers are wonderful and you can get your choice of foods from any local restaurants or the food trucks they have there on Fridays. From the friendly staff to the great music on Fridays and the new Tuesday night open mic nights, this is my new favorite hangout! LOVE IT! read more
