I heard a lot about this place before I ever got to go. It's close to my partner's family's house and the last time we visited I finally got to check it out. [Coronavirus review] Currently running out of a takeout window (with a couple of outdoor chairs next to it), this is a frozen custard place that like most such places rotates its flavors. I was a bit surprised to see that they had not just the flavor of the day, but a couple of others (presumably leftovers from previous flavors of the day?), so there was a tad more choice than I expected, but still a limited one. Nonetheless, the flavor of the day was black raspberry and that sounded good. It was richly flavored, and mixed well with a scoop of chocolate that I got on top, both of which started melting the minute I received them. They did have a dairy-free soy flavor as well. The price was certainly right. I'd still like to have the flavor selection of conventional ice cream places, but this was solid custard. read more

The custard was good and the folks at the counter were friendly. In this "bike town" at the confluence of the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Bike Trails, there were no bike racks. Cute little place. We stayed outside and enjoyed their beautiful wall planters. I got a scoop of the kitchen sink in a cone. I like the texture of the different candy pieces in it. If you know your way around the mythical Buffalo Chicken creature like I do, then you will probably be disappointed with the Buffalo Chicken wrap at this establishment. It is fairly ordinary, much like an Arby's sandwich. Unlike an Arby's, you can get ice of the cream variety here. I procured a small vanilla milkshake, which tasted like vanilla with a simple touch of cold. Be aware there is no medium sizes for the milk shake because like an Arby's, GO BIG OR GO HOME! Stopped here on the way home from PA. Very intrigued by the panini and sandwich of the day. It's a small place with street parking. The menu is pretty interesting. Both breakfast and lunch options. I saw the pancakes go by and partially regretted getting the sandwich. The panini was turkey, marinated pineapple, cheese and raspberry jam. It was huge and delicious. Came with chips and a pickle. Hubby go the sandwich which happened to be a wrap with grilled chicken and salsa and cheese. Also ate it all. Then we wanted some ice cream because hello it's a ice cream place to. Walked up and the girl asked if we wanted our free samples. And I'm like, sample...I want a cone. Turns out the samples are baby cones with like a half sized scoop. Just the perfect amount when you know you can't eat a whole cone. I had chocolate and hubby got the chocolate cherry. Mine was great. Hubby, who isn't a rabid ice cream guy, said his was delicious. If there was one place you have to visit when in downtown Cumberland it's this place. The ice cream is delicious!! You walk up the window and order, they take card and cash. Their menu changes weekly and you can check the schedule online for the flavors of the week. The ice cream is really soft so it will melt rather quickly if you don't eat it fast enough. They are very generous with their portions, I got a two scoop and it came in a large plastic cup. It was SO GOOD. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Ice cream was very good and creamy. The coffee, which we ordered at 2.30 in the afternoon, was really terrible. Prices were high, so it was surprising about the coffee. Plus, there's no fresh half and half, only those little packets of half and half, which are, as I understand it, ultra pasteurized and therefore don't need to be refrigerated. The cone slipped between our exchange, but rather than apologizing, I was told I would need to purchase another cone. I was stunned I would be asked to pay for another cone when she was just as much to blame as I was. I asked to speak to the manager, and was greeted by the owner Rhiannon. The staff at the Queen city creamery is top notch. I have never seen anybody working there without a smile on their face... A genuine smile. The food is consistently delicious. I have yet to have a bad sandwich there. The burgers, surprisingly, are the best burgers I have had in Cumberland. I say surprisingly, because the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of the queen city creamery is not a hamburger. But what keeps me coming back is the custard and the sorbet. There are several different options every single day for the house-made custards, which you can see coming out of the machine while you stand in line. This stuff is fresh daily! So I'll go with 4 stars, but it'd be easier to give that if the sandwiches came with a side better than a bag of chips or the sandwich was bigger.
