The place is charming, the definition of an English tea room. I ordered the shepherds pie, it was incredible, just lamb-y enough without being overwhelming, and comes with an incredibly delicious salad. My wife ordered the Westminster, it's a pasty in phillo dough with ham, 3 kinds of cheese, and onions and tomatoes. Also incredibly good. For dessert we had the royal wedding cake, which has lemon curd, and is one of the densest cake's I've ever had! Let's start with a bit of an elephant in the room. I collect menus and forgot to get one so I went to their website to see if there was one to download. There was and I discovered that the stated price for high tea was 30+ dollars less than what we paid. The cost for us was $70(ish) dollars per person and, honestly, not worth it. The amount on the website menu was more around the $45 mark and seemed more reasonable, but still a treat. The shop is jam packed with lots of lovely decor and items for sale that made us feel as if we had been transported to another time. We jokingly began to speak to each other in rather refined terms; having fun with it, which made the experience a bit more special. When I texted my daughter to tell her thank you for the treat, I began with, "My Dear Lady..." LOL The most positive aspect of the visit was the service. Wow! So attentive and the explanations took just the right amount of time. We chose different teas and received a full pot for each of us. We weren't able to finish while there and our server asked if we would like to-go cups. Nice touch! The balance of sweet to savory on the high-tea tower is quite nice (and fair with two of each). Each item, with the exception of a small sausage roll that was just okay, gets an A+. I would have preferred the quiche be a tad larger, but it was delish. The tables are really jammed in there with little to no room to maneuver. It was Mother's Day weekend, so maybe they added extra tables to accommodate extra reservations. Maybe? I absolutely loved my experience here! I've been to quite a few afternoon tea places and this was one of the best. Remember to make reservations in advance so that you're guaranteed a spot! There's a couple aspects about this place that I really liked. First off, there are so many unique tea choices. I asked which was the favorite and they recommended the Queen's Royal Afternoon Black Tea, which is what I ended up getting. My friends got the Orange Spice Black Tea and the Yunnan Gold Black Tea and of the three, my friends and I enjoyed my selection the most. Once they bring you your tea, you first get sorbet with a sugar cookie. The three tiered tray comes out with baked goods, sandwiches, and various fruit. My personal favorites were the top tier of baked goods which were all delicious. The baked good were warm which makes all the difference! I also have to say that the decor in this place feels charmingly old-fashioned. Pretty unique and definitely worth visiting. Overall, I felt full after the experience and had lots of leftover tea! We came for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my birthday and it was such a lovely experience. This tea room transports you to England from the decor to the menu and courteous service. One of the unique features of this afternoon tea is that they offer sorbet as a palate cleanser with a shortbread cookie. I have had many afternoon tea services and this was the first to offer it. They had scoops of passion fruit and marionberry, both were refreshing. This was also one of the most generously portioned tea services I have ever had. There were so many tea sandwiches/savories and desserts! My favorites were the mini quiche, pecan bar, and ginger cookie. The scones were excellent as well! We did not try the lemon curd but the group next to us highly recommended it so we will make sure to try it for our next visit. The tea menu is quite extensive and they have seasonal offerings. We ordered the strawberry chocolate rooibos and the lavender early grey black tea. Both were flavorful and complemented all the tea offerings nicely. Don't bother showing up without a reservation. Online it says they don't take reservations for tea & pastry, but they allow themselves to be completely booked up for meal reservations. The 4 of us have been coming here for the past 3+ years to celebrate my friend's birthday in March so the place is usually all decked out in Easter glory. I see some couples but it is mostly ladies. Reservations highly recommended. The Afternoon Tea is $40/person and comes with your choice of tea and a tower of goodies to share. There is also an a la carte brunch/lunch menu that includes salads and quiches. The serving size in my picture is for 3 people. Everything is one piece per person and then some fruit to share. I love their flavored black teas and try a different one every time. Today I had the Roasted Chestnut which smelled divine. It smelled sweet even though there was no added sugar. As part of the Afternoon Tea, you are served a trio of fruit sorbets and a shortbread cookie. The cookie is so cute and in the shape of a teapot. The light green pear sorbet was my favorite. The 1/2 crumpet with butter/marmalade and the butternut squash soup were my favorites from the top tier. The second tier was fresh fruits, lemon bars, cookies and sweet bread. The third tier were savory items with 2 kinds of sandwiches and some salmon pate on a cracker. I liked the cucumber sandwich the best from the third tier. The table also has a pretty dish of colored sugar for your tea and cream available as well. The place is pretty crowded so be prepared to bump elbows with someone. I didn't know this beforehand but there is a coat check. My coat kept falling off my chair when people walked by so I would recommend using this. Be sure to checkout the bathrooms! By far one of the cutest tea places I've ever been to. This was my first high tea experience so the price threw me off at first but from what I've seen at other places this is quite reasonable. The staff was super helpful in explaining all the different types of teas and how they taste! I ordered the Earl Grey tea with a side of milk which I found to be the perfect afternoon pick me up. As they are bringing out the tea, they also bring out a three scoop sorbet with a shortbread cookie. The sorbet is not only adorable but it is probably some of the best sorbet I have had. As for food, the soup and chicken mini sandwich was my favorite out of the tier platter that was brought out. The fruit that they gave did not taste fresh and the apple slices were soggy which was unappetizing. While the food does not appear to be much, it ends up being pretty filling. I will say that the decor is a little tacky and outdated and the bathrooms are so small that my knees hit the wall when sitting down to use the restroom. The holiday teas are amazing; my husband loves the Christmas Cookies tea and we always buy a huge bag of it before they are out of season, lol. The place has gained more popularity throughout the years - make sure you reserve early and be prepared to sit pretty close to another table. Queen Mary's is THE favorite place for my friend and I to treat ourselves. We usually do brunch and it is always wonderful. My favorite is the veggie scramble and my friend's is the smoked salmon omelet. Both are excellent every single time and they each come with a generous amount of top quality fruit. Plus we add a side of bacon which is of superior quality and always delicious. Special mention to the extensive list of rooibos teas! My friends and I came to Queen Mary Tea Room for our first ever high tea/afternoon tea session and we had a wonderful experience! We made a reservation about a month out, since we had a huge group. They had two times available - one in the morning and one in the afternoon, so we decided on the afternoon one. I didn't know what to expect, but it was a really great experience (although a little pricey). The base price of afternoon tea is actually a little more expensive on weekends, so be aware of that! They let you choose your own tea and you then get a tray of afternoon tea snacks. I decided on a Hazelnut flavor in the South African Bush page, which went so well with milk and tea. The snacks that we got included a range of fruit, mixed flavor sorbet, cookies, small sandwiches, sausage rolls, and more! My favorite, hands down, was the Smoked Salmon Mousse on Rye. I would love if there was more of that! Other than the food, the service was amazing - our servers were so nice, they kept checking on us and they also took note of my allergens. I would highly recommend having a menu next to you so you can note what you are eating as you are eating it. This was my first time doing afternoon tea anywhere. I thought it was a delightful experience. It is on the pricier side at $42/person, so this isn't something I can do in my regular rotation of outings, but it's a nice way to spend time with people you like. (Liking your guests is crucial, given that we were here for almost 3 hours to get through all the goodies.) Each person gets their own pot of tea. There is a lot to choose from, but our server seemed knowledgeable when we asked about her favorites, so don't hesitate to ask for help choosing! I was able to sample a little of everyone's, and below is how I would rank them. I like fruity or cinnamon-y teas, so I'd only order the first 2 again. 1. Strawberry Peach Rooibos 2. Royal Chai 3. Roasted Chestnut 4. Pu-erh Black Tea One server did come around will small samples of the Wizard of Oz (?) tea, and that was good as well. I wish there were more samples that same around during our time there. It's nice that when you order, you're asked about any dietary restrictions. I just don't like peas, so asked if they have another soup other than pea basil, and she was happy to substitute with potato leek which was available that day. I also don't eat any seafood, so she suggested something with pesto in place of the salmon mousse. After you select your tea, your sorbet trio comes out first. The flavors were pear grape, mango, and raspberry. I liked them all, but raspberry was my favorite. The shortbread cookie was pretty good too. When the tea is brought out, they'll also drop off an hourglass timer and suggest steep times. Then, you get your tier of goodies and they run through the items. It comes with some marmalades, whipped cream, and butter. It's all pretty filling, so take that into account if you have any meal plans for before or after! read more

I rarely would give a place 5 stars. There's always room to grow. The queen Mary is more like a 4.5 to me but we'll round down for just one thing I'll get to later . I loved the selection of teas and the recommendation from the serving staff of the almond black tea. The food quality is so amazing and the plating was fantastic. It is such a pleasant experience. Price wise at 50 dollars for weekday tea seems a little steep but you're paying for ambiance and experience. The only thing that made me feel like the experience wasn't one that will having me come back was the spacing. I couldn't help but feel cramped and so much there were instances I was jettisoned into my neighbors conversations which meant they were obviously able to hear mine. Yesterday I met my mom, sis & sis-in-law for the afternoon tea at Queen Mary. Positives: The place is charming, the food we did receive was great, each lady got to pick her own tea which arrived in a tea pot that magically stayed hot the entire meal. Our original server was incredibly knowledgeable on the tea menu (it's a huge menu & she had it memorized). Disappointing parts: Unfortunately something happened to our original server as she disappeared. A new server took over without explanation & that's where things went downhill - they must have been understaffed. Our treat towers arrived without our jam & I waited 10 minutes before going up front & asking our server for some. Another 10 minutes later I went up and asked again. We noticed everyone around us was getting the sorbet (it was a standard part of the tea service), yet our server dropped our bill & disappeared. 10 minutes go by & she hasn't come to the table to get the 2 credit cards so I couldn't ask about the sorbet. Finally we could see from our table that the small front area is filling with waiting customers who probably needed a table so I paid the whole bill using the Toast app code on the receipt. I see the server up front & ask about the sorbet. She apologized & offered to send us home with the shortbread cookies (since sorbet doesn't work to go). She hands me 6 cookies in ONE container for 4 women traveling separately. At that point, I just wanted OUT of there AND I was definitely RETHINKING that 20% tip. The point of our visit was to be together and treat our mom, who, thankfully had a nice time and didn't notice all the hiccups. But for the expense, my sister and I we're disappointed and don't know that we'd return or that we'd recommend Queen Mary over other tea rooms in the area. read more

We did the holiday tea ($42 per person). It's a prix fixe menu; the only thing you have to choose is your tea. There are dozens of options, sorted by type (black, flavored black. Green, rooibos, etc.). I got the almond cream and loved it. Highly recommend if you're a fan of marzipan. After they bring your tea (a sizeable tea pot full--I bet most people don't finish half of it), you start with three scoops of sorbet and a sugar cookie. Then comes the traditional tiered tray with warm baked goods on top (we got a cranberry orange scone, English muffin, sausage roll, and quiche), fresh fruit and deserts in the middle, and tea sandwiches on the bottom. The baked goods and sandwiches were all really well made and delicious. Make sure you take advantage of the delicious jams on your table! My only disappointment was that the scone was served with whipped cream instead of clotted cream. Otherwise, everything was lovely. If you don't end up finishing your tea (none of us could), you can request a to-go cup and take it with you. I came with a group of four on a Saturday morning and found the tea room pleasantly packed with customers. My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary here in November. I wanted to treat him since he had never been to a high tea. We had so much fun! The service was excellent. Our server explained the menu and answered our questions thoroughly. She was also very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Autumn Afternoon Tea Package. It was $65 per person pre-tax. The ambiance was overall enjoyable even with the place being packed. The only downside was that there was not much room to move around. The restaurant was quite small so the tables were very close together. Some of our most favorite things in the package were the Pork Sausage Roll, English Cucumber with Mint Butter Tea Sandwich, Chicken Almond with Mustard Butter Tea Sandwich, and of course, the tea! I got the Jasmine Pearl Green Tea and my husband got the Golden Monkey Black Tea. They were both excellent! One thing to note, reservations for party of 8 or more are only accepted for the final seating of the day. They can split checks up to four ways too. When we arrived (on time for our reservation), the hostess mentioned that it would be a few minutes before being seated as they were clearing our table. She then suggested we go look at the tea store a bit down the street. When we asked how long we should look around she told us 5 minutes. We decided against that. 45 minutes later we were seated. Everyone in our party have worked either retail or service and understand that there are unforseen circumstances that can cause delay. However, being told 3 separate times that it would be 5 more minutes is not acceptable. When we were finally seated, our server gave off the air that she was having a terrible day. Again, with all of us having been in similar industries, we gave her some grace. She got snappier and snappier with each return to our table to the point that none of us felt comfortable speaking to her. We grabbed another server from the area that had an absolutely wonderful demeanor. She took care of us for a bit and then Ms. Snippy returned, which signaled it was time to leave. We asked her to split our bill 3 ways (7 of us). 2 of us were charged correctly. The 3rd person was not only overcharged but charged twice! When she questioned this the server said that she had voided the extra charge. It has not been voided. Pros: The interior is small but quaint, food is good, afternoon tea is worth the price for the experience. Cons: communication needs to be improved, the bathroom on the left smelled heinous . The food was delicious and atmosphere was lovely, but the service was lack luster. We arrived early to our appointment by 15 mjnutes with 2 young children and were bypassed for a table 2xs by parties that arrived after us with the same reservation time and similar party size. While waiting we heard the owner correct her staff multiple times on where to set bussed dishes in a fairly curt manner. Once we were seated, 15 minutes after our reservation time, they delayed at taking our order. Our server dropped one of our treats and said they'd bring another which didn't happen. We requested a water carafe refill from the owner and she never brought it back. After 5 minutes, we asked for another server to bring us some water. Our food took a very long time to arrive and we were quite hungry after waiting so long. It was really quite a rough. At opportunities for bettering the experience, they failed. We scheduled this for our daughter's 10th birthday because she loved the charm of high tea on a trip to London a couple years back and are super disappointed. Maybe it was an off day, but far too expensive for the experience we received. read more
