I had a haircut appointment with Shelly and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I ended up waiting for about an hour past my scheduled time (It seemed like she had overbooked and was trying to rush through clients). When it was finally my turn, I could clearly feel that she was in a hurry. I'm not sure if she simply lacks the skill or was just rushing, but she used thinning scissors excessively and focused more on finishing quickly than on giving a proper haircut. As a result, my haircut turned out CHOPPY and UNEVEN which felt very unprofessional. On top of that, her new assistant shampooed my hair really carelessly, which left me feeling uncomfortable and gross.. For future clients, I recommend confirming your appointment timing and checking that she isn't overbooked, to help avoid a rushed and disappointing experience. read more

It was a middle of the weekday at not busy time but when I got there I had to wait because there were multiple bookings. Although this happened a couple of years ago, I'm writing this now to provide feedback and inform potential customers. I used to be a loyal customer at this salon for years, coming in every 2-4 weeks for a haircut. However, my experience couple years back have made it impossible for me to return, and I hope this review helps others avoid the same situation. One of the biggest concerns is that the salon allows assistants with very little experience to cut customers' hair. According to the manager, they "just follow the instructions" given during the haircut. That became a major issue for me. During one visit, the salon was busy and I was told I would need to get my haircut by an assistant. I trusted the salon since I had been coming for so long. Unfortunately, the haircut I received was extremely unprofessional -- uneven, choppy, and honestly worse than a pet groomer. When I asked what happened, the assistant said they simply followed whatever directions the manager gave. When I spoke to the manager, all she said was, "Sorry, I think she used the wrong equipment." For a loyal customer who has been coming for years, this level of service was unacceptable. What makes this situation even worse is that I previously had a stylist here who was very skilled, professional, and the reason I continued coming back. The manager told me that stylist would be "on a two-month break," which didn't make sense at the time. Recently, I saw that same stylist working at a new salon in nearby location. At that moment, I realized I had been lied to -- likely so the salon wouldn't lose customers. It's your choice whether to try this place or not, but in my opinion there are better salons where the staff is properly trained, honest, and values their customers. I'd have to say queens hair overall provided me with the best service i've ever had before at a korean hair salon. Shelly was very attentive, and she gave me the exact coloring I was looking for, which many other salons couldn't. She was very communicative and tried her best to accommodate with my needs, and she was very on top of things. I could tell she's highly experienced with korean style hair. I came here with my partner's mom to get my first ever perm. I have pretty typical male Asian hair: thick, straight, and not very pliable. I've tried different stylists and products, but have never been super happy with how to present my hair. My stylist did a fantastic job with contouring my hair to curl the top (so that it wouldn't just stick straight) and down-perming my sides to prevent an unflattering mushroom/bowl effect. She then provided me a helpful idea/schedule of how often I should come back for a trim, and how often I'd want to get another perm. I didn't go myself but went with a friend who got a trim and style. They did a great job on her hair and spent a lot of time between the cutter and the finisher. It made me wish I had made an appointment too! Fair pricing and clean salon. Comfy waiting sofas helped when I got tired of walking and shopping the mini-mall. I saw a very young boy get a trim and some bang highlights for $75 which was a bit shocking. Spoiled or no? You decide. Personally I would not spend more than $35 on my kids' hair, but they go to public school, lol! WORST EXPERIENCE HERE EVER. Do NOT EVER GO to the woman named LISA. She is Absolutely the worst hair care person. Went here for a long time and my hair quality kept getting worse and worse even with treatment after treatment. She has no idea what she is doing, and only cares about money. Beware she gives no refunds and does not own up to her mistakes. When asking about my damaged hair after thinking about it for a long time she frankly said did I ask you to come here? I mean who says that when a customer is asking what happened to my hair? She also said not to come back if you're not satisfied - and she won't even refund the money which is absolutely crazy. I don't write negative reviews like this that much but she seems like someone who doesn't know anything about hair. She also just took around 500$ without refunding me (that was paid in advance) which is basically fraud. I don't want anyone else to have the same experience here.
