I'd give zero stars if it were possible. This place is horrible.. they have paper taped covering their reception area so no one is there to help and you can't see in. My daughters dr ordered a urine kit for me to pick up so it could be done at home and I waited forever and someone finally came out and was beyond rude. Told me I needed to schedule an appt and wait like everyone else even though I was there before everyone else and not there to get blood drawn but yo pick up a test yo do at home. A text message regarding my appointment allowed me to check in when I arrived. All new staff (since last year) who are kind and capable! I'm not an easy blood draw but today the process was quick and painless! Seriously, half my experiences usually end in tears and several people trying to find my skinny, wiggly veins in all areas of my arm but today was one of the few positive experiences I've had in a long while. Worst diagnostic lab in San Diego county. Insane wait times even with a reservation.

I have many things that I could state they did inappropriately, but I will name one that is a big no no in health care. Gloves are to be put on and taken off in front of the patient. These people are walking around the clinic and into the waiting room wearing their gloves. They need a joint commission inspection pronto. I have a list of other issues that I have already called and made a formal complaint. read more

Check in was with a touch screen monitor. I had to come here for pre-employment drug testing and I was in and out of there in no time. I went to this location initially as a walk-in. When I found out the wait could potentially be hours, I left and scheduled an appointment. When I showed up for my appointment, I was taken back within 5 minutes. The problem I have is that the woman (young-ish with glasses) who took my ID and insurance card had the same gloves on the entire time that she handled them, typed away on a keyboard, touched a door handle, handled all of the viles, handled paperwork, staplers, etc. and then proceeded to take my blood sample with the same gloves on. THIS IS NOT SANITARY. For all I know...she has had the same gloves on all day with every patient before me! But I was afraid to say something right before she was going to poke my vein. I will never go back. The bizarre room with no receptionist is just odd. And my test results took over a week and a half to be updated. read more

First of all, the provider wore the same gloves and touched everything then injected my son's arm to remove blood. Also- the customer service was very rude and unprofessional. They are unfriendly. Schedule an appointment ahead of time. I arrived early for appointment the waiting room was full. At 4pm they announced anyone waiting on standby without an appointment will not be seen bc their last appointment of the day is 4:30. People complained that they have been waiting for hours. Quest is cutting some major corners. No front desk staff only just a computer to check yourself in. Only 2 ppl working in back. DO NOT take your children here!!!! My daughters doctor ordered labs so we headed to this lab. He ordered 4 tests and this lab only ran one of the orders. So, we had to go BACK for ANOTHER blood draw. This appointment was incredibly traumatizing for her. She hasn't slept in days and cries through the day about how scary it was for her. A week has passed and I just got work from the doctor that the incompetent lab again MISSED the requests. How is this possible?! I triple checked her names on the tubes, I initialed the labs required. She was STILL while getting the blood taken... why would we now be getting told we have to go AGAIN?!??! Old man trying to use check in kiosk without help caused me to miss my appointment check in time, nobody at the front desk to explain to or help or ask questions, had to get on standby list, waited two hours, waited at window of 30 minutes to see if I could ask a question about the waitlist, nobody ever came but passed by and looked at me multiple times. Prepare to wait and wait and wait. Super frustrating experience here. As a type 1 diabetic, it is not the easiest thing to come in for a fasted blood test. That being said I know that appointments take priority. I have been here before anyone, since 7:35am, with no appointment. And have not been seen. At this point it's 10:35am and still nothing. I went back and kindly vocalized the fact that I, not anyone of the other 9 people on the wait list had been seen. So, I read all the reviews and wasn't expecting much. Of course.... I had an appointment at 1 PM. Their doors open after lunch at exactly that time. There were 3 people also waiting for them to open. They were all walk-ins. Because I had an appointment I got to go in first. That was good... I was out of there within 20 minutes. Voila!! Only thing is ... There was ONE poor employee (Jin Victoria) doing everything from checking people in and taking their information to taking me back to weigh me and draw my blood. That's ridiculous to leave her in that position. Of COURSE everyone in the waiting area is going to be ticked off! She was NOT set up for success. Jin was super sweet & was doing everything she could. I'm sure she was stressed. I hope this place does better soon. read more

Ok first off - I was almost horrified to go in here after reading some of the reviews so as a True Yelper I actually SELECTED Quest over LabCorp just to see what the deal was. Plus, I was only going in for routine blood work so ... what could go wrong? (cue music) I decided to make an appointment online and didn't bother with selecting the option to notify me the day before since I was actually making the appointment the day before. My appointment was for 11:15am and just about everyone else in there was a walkin (or so I thought?) - I ended up going in at about 11:40am or so. There was a kid who was screaming and crying about having to give blood and just about everyone in the back had to go over to comfort him (which didn't work) - when the kid came out i felt sorry because he looks like the kind of kid who is super smart and would get bullied at school... crying at needles probably won't help - but his secret is safe with me! I went in and outside of having my name mutilated several times (they got it right on the 4th try! yay!) I don't have ANY complaints. They were super friendly... the lady who drew my blood seemed to be a little mechanical and I could see someone reading her as cold - but I small talked and joked with her and she lightened up super fast. The assistant was also super friendly. I think I cracked the code for QUEST Diagnostics - show some levity and don't expect to get treated like a prince or princess... these people are workers in this office - remember that - they deal with pricks (no pun intended) almost daily. People coming in fasted and just wanting to go eat - taking it out on them - so they might not be chipper. I would suggest to treat them how you want to be treated and it might have a different outcome. :) read more

I had no problems with this place, and everyone I interacted with was very friendly and nice. The wait time was a bit long for my taste (20-30 mins with an appointment already), but that was fine. They sent the results to my doctor faster than expected. I should also mention that the clientele here were normal people. I say this because at the other Quest location I went to Oceanside, a guy literally did drugs in the bathroom. So overall, I would come here again. They seem to have more availability for appointments than the other Quest locations. read more

Seriously, screw Quest Diagnostics. How do you run a laboratory and only offer testing during certain hours on only certain days? You won't find this information easily and it's buried on their website. Quest Labs makes it look like they offer the normal range of tests during their business hours and they do NOT. I made an appointment a week ago for fasting blood work at 9am. The day prior I received a reminder email with bar code for "fast check-in". So, I was pretty surprised when I showed up with a few other people to see the office was closed because of flooding...and it didn't just happen. I don't know how long their office has been closed for this emergency, but I do know if they can send me an email 24 hrs prior to my appointment, they can certainly send an email notifying me that my appointment has been canceled and the office is closed. It's this lack of thought for their clients (and disorganization?) that convinces me Quest Diagnostics is NOT where I want to get my lab work..of any kind. read more

I don't usually share review I thought I'd let everyone know now! that I have some time if you're curious about getting your blood drawn, At this location YES there is no Reception the technicians seem to follow what they are instructed to do following the regulations of patients appointments and helping with no estimate timeframe for those who don't book an appointment. I come and get my blood work done here often I usually have to see angry people in the waiting room because they didn't book an appointment or because they were late for their appointment, not taking in consideration other appointments waiting to be seen In one occasion, I have been late for my appointment and apparently, if you are nice, they take you in consideration I was asked to sign in the kiosk as a person without an appointment, and shortly they were going to help me taking in consideration my late appointment, . Yes I did have to wait but I was helped let's be more human to understand the healthcare. Overall Everyone I encountered at the lab was extremely pleasant. I have had terrible experiences in the past with blood draw The tech that helped me is short with glasses red head very excellent and efficient. all the girls who are at Encinitas are extremely kind they always get my veins on the first try important to have an appointment. pretty efficient. i recommend them read more

I dont normally write reviews. The service was so bad here, i needed to express my concern. This is my first review on yelp and this place was not pleasant. I came here to get drug screened for employment. Staff was short tempered, slow, and unfriendly. A previous reviewer said to small talk or for you as the customer to make the staff feel at ease to get better service. However i tried a little small talk and smiling but staff did not smile, showed little eye contact and seemed disinterested in wanting to carry on a simple/light conversation. A previous reviewer says that it is possible they have to deal with pricks everyday. That is understandable and it is good to see the situation in another light. At the same time it doesnt excuse the staff from treating other customers poorly. There are many bad reviews for this facility that express the same concerns. If it possible to get your lab work done elsewhere then do so. They need to improve both management and customer care. read more

I had to wait 1 1/2 hours wait just to get blood drawn, people have to take time off work & staff don't seem that concerned, no one is working at the front desk. They have limited operating hours, it's hard to believe it takes this long just to do one test, very frustrating. I will say though that once I was seen the lady was very nice. This used to be a friendly , welcoming place, empathetic to suffering patients. Now it is the one of the worst labs in Encinitas. Their online system fails constantly. Anything your Doctor's office sends electronically gets lost in the ether. Even FAXed orders from Doctor's office does not get in. The only way to get service here is to get a physical order from the Doctor's office on a piece of paper. The automated check in process is one of the most difficult and cumbersome process, I have ever experienced. I do have a Master's degree in Computer science and a Software Engineer by trade. There is absolutely no one to help with the check in. They even draped the window with a cloth where a intake assistant used to sit, so that no one can even ask for help. The one Phlebotomist, Kim, I had last time was the rudest person, I have ever met in my life. Please avoid this facility , if you can. What a disservice to the community , this lab is. read more

As always, our lab in Encinitas is amazing! Today we had Karla. My daughter has Lupus and gets labs done all of the time. Chris, Karla, and the staff are always helpful, friendly, and professional! We feel like they go above and beyond their positions to help us. Sometimes, our doctor's office has trouble sending electronic lab requests and Quest is always super helpful and patient in those cases. Thank you, Encinitas Quest! You're the best! read more
