Ugh! I've been going here for years and maybe 1 out of 10 times the tech is friendly. This time she told me my veins were small and don't even bother to ever give blood, even though I know I am O, which is universal. The rooms are painted a putrid green and as I'm staring down at the floor while she inserts the needle, I can see a ballpoint pen in the corner on the floor laying in a pile of dust. It is dirty and disgusting. It's like walking back in time in there, dated and depressing, maybe that's why the techs are in a bad mood. I'd hate to stare at those walls all day. Made appt with walked in appt time, with a confirmation number, provided by the automated worthless recording, I was fasting, the woman on saturday refused to see me and had no appt on file for me. Everyone who knows me knows that I am a chicken shit when it comes to needles. Especially having my blood taken. Actually anything to do with my veins. I try to pretend that I don't have veins. Blissfully living my life in denial that they even exist in my body. Friends torture with tales of having their blood taken or send me pictures of needles via e-mail. I'm really that bad. So I have been sick for a while and my doctor of course being all responsible and all orders blood work for me. I immediately start getting all clammy and panicky just at the thought. Well a week later I finally summon up the courage to go and get it done. **popping xanax** I arrive at Quest on Santa Fe and they only have one plebotomist (blood drawer person) and she immediately puts me at ease. Soothing voice, not put out that I tell her I have to lay down to get my blood drawn (told ya I'm a chicken). So I'm lying down trying not to hyperventilate and the next thing I know it she was done. What? I swear I didn't feel a thing. I didn't even know she was drawing blood. I had worked myself up in a lather for nothing. She even went and got me water because I was all flushed. She told me to take my time and lay down for as long as I needed. But I was good. The easiest experience I have ever had. Not that I'm cured of my fear but at least I know I have a place to go now whenever the dreaded blood test is needed. Thanks Melinda for being so patient and nice to a big chicken like me. P.S. Was not allowing even distance seating in the lab area . They sent patients outside the building to wait . It gave the appearance that there was little to no wait . They did not personally take you in . They pointed to a computer check in. I waited for one hour and then noticed someone who was behind me going in .Turns out they were running an hour behind on appointments and there were 6 more people ahead of me . Told them you might want to let people know that there is a wait since there is no one in the waiting room and people were in their cars . She looked at me blankly . This lab has zero understanding of management and customer service . Drove to Escondido , went to that quest lab. A nice lady met me at the door , they allowed seating and she told me there was no wait . I gave them 5 stars for great and pleasant communication . If I could give this one zero I would . I wonder who manages this lab because they need to fire them . I have been to many scripps labs and quest and honestly , this one is the worst lab I have EVER been to . Oh also , there was an elderly woman who was pushing an elderly man in a wheel chair trying to open the door . Not one of them moved . I grabbed the door and let them in . Came in to get my sons labs done (who is 1 1/2 yrs old) and the freaking idiot poked around one arm and couldn't find the vein so he went to the other arm and poked around trying to find the vein and STILL couldn't. All while my son is screaming bloody murder in pain. We left with both arms in pain and not even getting any tests done. I hope anyone who reads this decides not to go here. Wow Abby is super bad at drawing blood... !!! Always come to this site, cuz the normal girls usually do an awesome job. I have huge veins and I could literally take my own blood... Abby hurt so bad taking the blood, I teared up and fear she went through the back side of the vein... I get weekly blood test and this was BY FAR the worst in over 2 years... Request one of the girls that has been there longer... Abby not only is bad at drawing blood, but very moody. read more

This was by far the WORST experience I have ever had with a medical facility! The first thing your company did was not send out a reminder call like I requested when I set up a Saturday appointment. Secondly when I got there NONE and I mean NONE of the people you had working there had any idea of what was going on. The woman behind the counter turned away not only myself but another gentleman right before me. Maybe if you had something on your website pertaining to your RULES AND REGULATIONS people like myself and others wouldn't have to use your company in the first place! I had been fasting for over 12 hours to get this blood draw and then got turned away. I think the part that really makes me mad is that I have had my blood drawn there in the past and I never Ever encountered this problem. I hate blood draws! I have had very bad experiences. I signed in when I arrived ( I WAS A WALK IN) was taken back in about 5 minutes, Carol did my blood draw. I asked her how long she had been doing this....She it was her first day. She was joking. She talked to me and was very nice. The blood draw was very simple for her. She did her job very well. I am very happy with my visit today and will return when I need my next blood draw. read more

The staff at this location is so rude. Especially the guy who sits at the desk. He's rude and huffs under his breath to customers. When you make a 7:30 appointment don't expect to get in right away. They don't open until 7:30 and according to the staff, "what do you expect?" Seriously....won't be back. read more

Horrible customer service. I am 10 weeks pregnant and made an appointment but I was 20mins late because I was throwing up in the bathroom. I explained this to the girl at the front and she said "to bad you're a walk in now" what amazing sympathy!! She said I could try coming back later and they might be less busy, as I'm almost in tears she just dismisses me like she's queen B or something. I'm now at LabCorp with the nicest people and happy to wait as a walk in being treated like a human being. read more

I went in yesterday to take a urinalysis and the process was quick and easy! There was a very nice blonde woman with glasses that helped me I apologize I didn't get her name and she made the process quick and easy. My appointment was at 3:15 I was seen and out by 3:35. Great personnel here! I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. I'm mean it's in Encinitas for gods sake haha a very nice area. If I could give negative stars I would. This place is just downright awful. Normally I am a patient at scripps but I need a particular test they order through quest. I have been to scripps hundreds of times and most I have ever waited was 5 min at the lab. So I get to quest today (sat) on the website it says it's open until 12. I get there at 10. I ask the lady in the front who was very flustered if she can check and see if they have my order. She then said we only take appointments on Saturdays but you can sign off on the walk in, and wait 1-2 hours. I asked just to check if my order is in. She basically yelled at me that she was dealing with another patient on the computer so I would have to wait. In the 1 hour and 45 min I waited. Many folks came in, and many folks got her attitude and yelled at by her. She even proceeded to lock the door because "she couldn't handle it anymore". She kept complaining that she hated being at the front desk and she was miserable and slammed. She can't handle her job and her attitude and behavior would not be tolerated at most jobs. She would be fired on the stop. even another gentlemen said the same thing. Two people came in who were an hour late to their appointment and she took them in anyway. Without yelling at them like most others who came in. So an hour and a half later I finally get called and they couldn't find my order. I was really happy to have waited all that time for something a competent person could have looked up in 30 seconds when I first had arrived. Did I mention I had my baby with me too? Oh yeah. Quest is the worst and I feel terrible for anyone who has to use them regularly. The blonde lady needs to go. Or a Xanex. Someone who had an appointment was walking up as I left but probably couldn't get in due to the door being locked. read more

Well- Can't say that this is a "service" I enjoy but I had to get bloodwork done for my yearly physical and some other routine tests. I had to fast for my visit, so on top of not eating breakfast and having my usual morning coffee I was feeling especially tired. I called the morning of for an appt and got in that day at 11:15AM. I showed up early expecting a long wait- to which I was very surprised that I was the only person in the lobby. I signed in and was immediately greeted by Elizabeth. She was friendly and knowledgeable and sped through the check in process with ease. She invited me back to the chair and began to prepare everything necessary for my blood draw. I don't enjoy needles but did not expect what happened next. Elizabeth was very gentle and accurate in her stick and did her best to keep me calm. I think the combination of a blood draw and no food made me susceptible to fainting and thats exactly what I did.... Elizabeth was very kind to me and made me feel very comfortable- naturally I was embarrassed... Unfortunately she informed me we still needed one more tube of blood. But again she guided my through the process and before i knew it, I was done and on my way out.... I can't say how grateful I was to have Elizabeth there to help me... Like I said this isn't something I look forward to nor thought I would ever Yelp about but she really went out of her way to help me and I felt I should do the same... This place is a disaster. Had an appt. for 11:30 so I wouldn't have to wait long for a 10 minute blood draw. The place was crowded when I got there with backed up patients that had already been waiting for close to an hour. I hoped my having an appt. would mean they'd honor it -- nope. After 40 minutes I went to the counter and said I couldn't wait any longer. The woman offered no apology, no offer to reschedule at my convenience, nothing but a shocked: "You're not going to wait??" Awful! Never again! Saturday appointments are a joke. 11:15 appt. arrived at 11:10. They said there was a 15 minute wait (despite the 30 or so people in the waiting room). I sat down but a girl said that she had a 10:30 and she wasn't even close to going back. I left. Made an appt for the one in Carlsbad off of Camino de Los coches for Tuesday 9:15. Not a soul in the waiting room. One person in the back getting a draw and I'm next. I'm so mad because my physical is 9am tomorrow and I won't have the results in time because of what a cluster it was at the encinitas 477 el Camino real one. What a joke. read more

Skip Quest Diagnostics at 477 N El Camino Real. Opt, instead for 3257 Camino De Los Coches Ste 201, Carlsbad, CA 92009 location or ask your physician to specify LabCorp instead of Quest. This site took my daughter in, immediately, when we arrived at 9:10am for our 9:15am Saturday appointment -- that's the only "positive" we experienced. The surly phlebotomist rarely looked at me, the patient's father, as she declared that the one test our physician had written on the lab slip was not precise enough for her to accept a urine sample and process. She declared she'd either need to speak, directly, to my daughter's physician or receive a new directive from the physician in order to accept and process the sample. We'll follow directions and deliver a sample with precise documentation, this time, but never again: It's either Camino De Los Coches location (I've visited here, twice, and they've been friendly, accurate and efficient) or LabCorp, from now on. read more

I had to have blood drawn from my 16-month old daughter, which is frightening of itself. And then reading the low rated reviews made me even more nervous. But honestly, it was the best experience I could have hoped for. I made an appointment a week in advance as I needed a specific time of day. We arrived and were taken back once they put all information into the system. The gentleman drawing the blood triple checked that he was taking the minimal amount of blood needed for each test and that the amount did not exceed how much can be taken from such a small child. He had someone come to assist gently holding my daughter so she would not move during the process. They were both friendly and kept my daughter and I distracted while test tube after test tube were filled. My daughter did great and I'm relieved it is over. I wish I had jotted down their names, because they did a great job keeping mom and child calm. Thank you for a great experience for such a not-so-fun task. read more

Impossible to get live person on the phone and only an automated phone system with recordings. They misplaced my daughter's standing order for a key blood test and i was unable to have them verify in advance that they had found it for a follow up visit. Poor customer service when there is no phone that actually reaches a live person. Hope they read this and can make that improvement to better serve their patients. read more

I wouldn't even know what this place is like because I cannot make an appointment. When I called them, they said they couldn't make an appointment on the phone so I called their automated appointment line - what a disaster - i cound't even figure it out. I then went on line and wasn't able to make an appointment either. I called a supervisor who was nice but not able to help me either and told me that the Encinitas location was high volume and takes awhile to get in without an appointment. This is the worst customer service I have had in a very long while. It is rediculous that you can not talk to someone. Hopefully my son will get allergy tested at some point in the future. I went up to the front desk to ask how long the wait was since I scheduled an appointment for a specific time, I expect to be seen at that time, maybe a little after, but not 30 minutes to an hour, that's absurd. One phlebotomist literally said, "Nuh uh, you get back over here" when she was looking for my lab order and I wanted to sit down. Umm ok, last time I checked I was a patient that deserves decent customer service. She was huffing and puffing anytime she had to speak to a patient, and meanwhile the only person drawing blood at that time was asking what kind of test he needs to run for (insert test name).. Her response, "Just draw the damn blood they will have to figure that out later. It's not our problem." I finally left after she had forgotten who I was and I got tired of waiting while she "looked" for my order. This is the most unprofessional medical establishment I have ever stepped foot into. I was stuck in a phone tree that made no sense but I finally was given the option to talk to a human being, I was told they were in a training program until, well, six hours ago! Incompetent office management. They don't blink at wasting your time when issues are on their end. This is normal apparently. My experience: Online system confirmed an appointment on Saturday for a drug test required for a new hire on-boarding. When I arrived for my appointment on Saturday the receptionist didn't see a reservation and flatly reported that drug tests aren't done on Saturdays. She said to come back next week. I insisted she call manager, Windsor, who confirmed that online reservation system shouldn't allow drug test appointments on Saturday as they don't do drug tests on Saturday. I asked, "Please make me a reservation for Monday for a drug test." I was told by Windsor, "please go online to make your reservation we can't make reservations in the office." And there you have it, the contradiction of asking me to use the online system which Windsor the manager had just confirmed isn't working properly. I was also told that I wasn't the first, that this had been an ongoing problem with others. Both the receptionist and Windsor were extremely unhelpful and Quest Diagnostics clearly could care less about inconveniencing customers given the online system is set up incorrectly. I continue to waste time dealing with Quest Diagnostics. read more

Worst jab draw experience if my life. I'm pregnant and needed to get a 3-hour (yes three) glucose tolerance test and since my doctor was from our of the area they delayed starting the process for 40 minutes while the tech kept calling to get some kind of code they were not familiar with. I ended up calling another Quest lab (the one I usually go to) myself and got the needed number since the people there could not figure out what their client services number was to save their lives. Finally the first tech drew my blood while fasting then gave me the glucose drink to start the process. Choices were lime flavored or fruit punch. I chose lime since it had no food coloring but one sip into the drink I noticed the expiration date had passed. I told the tech who then took the glucose drink from me, went to the back and began dumping out all the lime flavored glucose test drinks that had also expired. I felt horrible because before me another girl took the same test and hopefully didn't choose the lime drink that was expired. I ended up having to drink the fruit punch one instead. Every hour for the next three hours I had to keep reminding them when it was time for my next blood draw. The other girl didn't know any better and didn't speak up so her test was delayed by 30 minutes! The second guy who took my blood cut my arm with the tip of the needle as he was taking it out and immediately I felt a sting. I had two more tests after that and this meant either not using that arm anymore and using the same one for the remaining tests or having to get creative going above my new open wound. The air conditioner was on and since I had allergies I kept sneezing in the waiting room. Their box of tissues was near empty and as I used up two it went empty altogether. I ask the person up front if they had any more tissue and they brought out another near empty box with two blood sample tubes and a pen stuck inside it. The third person who drew my next test said they were running late so other than the glucose the other set of labs my doctor ordered would be drawn on my last timed draw. Finally when the third hour came up I told the tech he should start earlier this time to arrange taking the remaining tests without running past the one hour mark for the glucose part of it. When he was done taking five vials of blood he asked me to stay to verify the labels were correct. In doing so he realized he drew one less tube than was ordered and I ended getting poked for the fifth time to get it done. Overall it was a horrible experience. Unorganized staff who don't keep their company business numbers at hand, expired glucose drinks, dirty supplies, phlebotomists who don't draw blood well and cut you with the tip if the needle when removing it, staff does not keep track of timed tests, and negligence that gets you poked more than necessary because the tech didn't pay close attention to detail for how many tests were ordered in the first place. I noticed other people in the waiting area having to sit 40 minutes to one hour to be called. If you need blood work done go elsewhere and save yourself more than just a headache. read more
