I was a walk in for a urine test and there were about 15 people in the waiting room. However, everything moved quickly including the check in process. I was in and out within 15 minutes. The ladies at the front desk were efficient, helpful, and very respectful towards those who spoke broken English. Always a good judge of character :) read more

I paid out of pocket for a covid antibody test (blood test) on the Quest website, and went out of my way to schedule at this location because they had better reviews than others in the area. Unfortunately my experience was not a positive one. After a 20 minute wait (past my scheduled appointment time) I was called to the desk only to be told that they don't do covid antibody tests "for exposure" at this location. I had no idea why they thought I was getting an antibody test due to an exposure, as I never stated that as the reason for my test, not to mention that the reason for testing should not matter. I confirmed that they understood that my order was for an antibody blood test, not a covid nasal swab test. I was once again told that they don't do covid antibody tests and that I needed to go to a different location. Before I could clarify further, the woman walked away saying she was "with a patient". After leaving and calling Quest customer service the customer service agent let me know that that location is definitely supposed to be able to do covid antibody tests, repeatedly said she didn't understand why they refused to do the test, and apologized on their behalf. Not sure what was going on today but I hope this location internally clarifies what services they do and don't provide so that future customers don't waste their time. read more

Went in for a blood draw/UA. I think i got in around 9:50 am and was out by 10:11 without an appointment. Everything was handled efficiently and the front desk was so cheerful and friendly. I also had an awesome phlebotomist and had no bruising whatsoever. I also liked that I was asked to double verify tubes after she drew my blood. Place was really clean. I read bad reviews about wait times but I made an appointment and I was seen immediately. I was there for a drug screen. I haven't done one in a long time pretty straight forward. Empty your pockets, then they lock all your belongings in a case. You then go into the bathroom and they wait out side. They have a cool switch so you can't flush the toilet or use the sink (probably for people trying to dilute the sample). Afterwards they have you verify the batch of urine to make sure yours doesn't get mixed up it's sealed and they send it off. Said it takes like 3 days. The people where super friendly and easy going. Quest DiagnosticsHow can billing department of such a big diagnostics lab company be so wrong. My wife recently went for lab test and was charged full amount even though she had health insurance(dependent) and all the tests were covered by insurance except for co-pay/deductible. The lab personnel had failed to apply insurance for the tests. Even though Quest Diagnostics claims that they charge only after insurance processes the bill, they didn't bother to verify and charged HSA card in full. To add, when I pointed out the mistake to customer service representative they issued a refund check to an address which had no Street Name/Door Number. On 5th call, the representative accepted that the check was sent to an address with just city name. How can the refund check be sent to a city we live in and not to us or be refunded to HSA card (which is the appropriate way). How irresponsible can the billing department be ? Can't they even hire responsible people. Moreover, it took be 5 calls and multiple messages, issue reporting online. Is there any way I can report this mismanagement ? Even when I was being served the lady at the counter kept shouting at me. She started asking me to move away from the counter for no apparent reason. Front desk is very nice and helpful. Each time I got my blood test drawn it was really easy and fast. The waiting room is clean and spacious. They save your records so you don't have to bring your insurance card each time. Really recommend this place! Although there is a student there but you could say no to them if you feel uncomfortable letting them practice on you. read more

Today I went for a blood draw,the lovely lady at the front desk checked me in and drew the blood within a blink of an eye.Usually, the blood draw procedure is a bit of trauma for me because it is very hard to find the vein for me,each time,every time.This time, it went very smooth and thanks to the lady (i wish I asked her name.. :( ) The place is squeaky clean and comparatively big. After reading the horrible reviews from the Quest Diagnostic on Quimby, I decided to come to this location. I can't stress enough how Nancy, the phlebotomist was in her way she treated me. She was very friendly and she made sure I was comfortable before I began my blood draw. She is a pro; quick and painless. The office could use some sprucing up but that's just cosmetics. I only live 5 minutes away from the Quimby location but I rather drive further distance to get better care. read more

This place is VERY un-organized, but "my" experience was good, so I gave them 4 stars, but if others gave them 1 star, I understand why. First, you need to make an appointment online, do not go in as walk-in. There are many walk-in so it is a mess. They do not separate well between appointment and walk-in, which made some customers mad, because they made the appointment but they allowed walk-in customers to go in first. To Quest Diagnostics, I would recommend you to have 2 sign-in paper. One for those who have appointment, and the other paper for those who walk in. You can let the appointment customer in first at their appointment time, if they do not show up or they finish quicker than expected, then you call walk-in customers to fill up the spot. If there are too many walk-in customers already, you should refuse the new walk-in customers that you won't be able to do it that day, don't let them just sign in. After they sign in, and get in to wait to be diagnosed, you should call them by number, because some customers lied that they came first and cut in front. Those customers who are quiet and did not pay attention, they will have to wait for a long time, because others cut in front of them. To customers, I would recommend making appointment first. Then you go a little before your appointment time, so that they won't give your spot to others. After you sign in (write your name, and time you come, and appointment time on the paper at the reception), you should keep an eye on who they call next, if you suspect others go in first, you ask them politely that you have appointment at this time, and it has already passed. Once they let you in, to wait to be diagnosed, then keep an eye if you get in first or not, you can also talk to other customers who are waiting with you, who is first, who is next, then when they call who's next, you know who. If not, someone else gonna say i'm next! read more

When I walked in, I found the staff to be very helpful and informative. I had forgotten my paper at work, but the staff was very accommodating and allowed me to return soon after when I had retrieved it. The procedure was quick and the easiest blood test I have ever done. I hate hate hate needles but this was over so quickly that I am thankful. They were extremely polite and efficient. I have blood, injection, injury phobia very badly and often pass out from blood work. I was extremely nervous going to a new place, as I didn't know what to expect. I didn't have to wait long before getting in. The two nurses who did the blood work for me were AMAZING. I have never had anyone more considerate and professional before. They helped distract me and gave me time to recoup after getting the procedure done. They also made me feel not so embarrassed for panicking over such a silly but real phobia. I believe their names were Pink & Kerri. I will be back the next time I need blood work done. Thank you guys so much for making my experience quick and comfortable. read more

Went there on a Saturday morning. It was my first time going to this location. The front desk staff was really impolite. Immediately after entering the office, I can feel that it is not a welcoming environment. The front desk clerk's face was dark (very mad and annoyed). I have to repeat my question twice to get a respond from her. And all her answer to my questions was "Sit down and we will call your name." Like telling me to go away. She kept complaining to other staffs the back does not move. I arrived at 11:15am and waited until 12:30 for my blood draw. This location close at 12pm on Saturdays. The phlebotomists left at 12pm, leaving the only two staffs who were working at the front desk to do the rest of the patients. They called my name along with 5 other people. Then it was another wait at the hallway. They couldn't do my kid's blood draw because they couldn't find the vein. I had to go to another location. read more

I went to Quest Diagnostics at 2618 Alum Rock yesterday and the receptionists were very jolly and attentive to each of us customers. The phlebotomist assigned to me, named Kerry Ann, did an excellent job after having been informed that I have a fear of being poked more so on blood extraction. She noticed my sadness and was informed that my dog died in the morning. She cheered me up, diverted my attention with some interesting topics and most importantly, was able to do one time the extraction considering that I have very fine veins. I was able to overcome my fear on that moment. Kudos to this awesome and cheerful staff, Kerry Ann. Keep up the excellent and prompt service guys! Took my daughter in to get some blood drawn as apart of her 1 year check up. The staff was extremely nice, I made a apt and we were only there for 15 mins. I am rating this based on my one time experience here. After reading some scary long wait time reviews on Yelp, I decided to come to Quest as early as I can for a blood test since I couldn't figure out the reservation system online. Before work, I went in around 7:15am to this location on a Tuesday, and there were about two people in front of me. The staff seemed pretty busy. Initially, they didn't seem friendly, but I didn't mind. I waited for less than 10 minutes until I was called. The phlebotomist was good in that the poke wasn't painful, but when she wanted to switch tubes, she ended up moving the needle a tad bit, which scared me, but it wasn't that bad. My mind was probably exaggerating a little. Later I had to sign a paper and was a little sleepy and hungry, so I screwed it up a bit. The phlebotomist teased me about it, which I guess made the atmosphere warmer. After I left, I saw two more people come in. Overall, I was in there for less than 15 minutes. Quest also claims to process results within a week. I had a simple blood test, and my doctor received the results in a week (~5 business days). read more

The pediatric care at this location was atrocious! If I could rate this location 0 stars, I would. The POOR service and performance of the Quest on Alum Rock Road in regards to a TERRIFIED CHILD was heartless. We made the pediatric specific appointment, showed up early, signed in, waited 25 minutes to find they'd forgotten him as he panicked and cried in the waiting room. How the heck do you do that? FORGET a child sitting in your waiting room! Then the first INCOMPETENT person dug for a vein in one arm, then called for help to dig and bruise his second arm. I thought when you set a Pediatric draw that someone experienced with children would be there. It was already traumatic, and they ruined him. I'm livid! Just livid! This location and one other location were closed to open a new location at 2816 Alum Rock Av. I have to say this new location is grossly mismanaged. I signed in with my 90 year old diabetic Mother at 9:30 am. I wasn't checked in by the staff until nearly 10:30 and the blood wasn't drawn until nearly noon. This being a fasting blood test could have caused a dangerous drop in her blood sugar. This brand new facility had 7 blood draw rooms and only 3 of the slowest employees I've ever seen in my life working. Its no wonder my personal medical insurance company has dropped coverage to Quest Diagnostics. read more
