I first spoke with Tatiana at the front desk about my pain and she was extremely patient and thorough. She spent 20 minutes on the phone with me to make sure I got an appointment with the right person, to find a time that worked best for my schedule, and to make sure that my insurance covered everything. Not only was I in pain, but I was also frustrated because I didn't know what my injury was and what to do to get better. Dr. Ashley Lederman not only was able to diagnose me right away, but I felt so much better even after 1 visit with her. She set me up on a treatment plan for 6 weeks - 1/week. 5 sessions later the pain is gone! 5 days before my last visit, I started getting a throbbing pain in my arm that was worse than my leg pain. I figured I could wait until my next visit and have her look at it. The pain got so bad though that I couldn't wait and wanted to go in the next day. Tatiana made sure I was able to schedule a visit for the next day. Again, Dr. Lederman was able to diagnose me right away and determined it stemmed from the same back issue. While the arm pain is not completely gone, it feels significantly better than it did before I went in. That says a lot considering how badly I have been in pain for 4 days. She is a miracle worker! Tatiana and Dr. Lederman are so friendly and personable too. I am going to be moving away from the area, but I know that if I have any other issues in the future, I will make the trip to come to this location. It will be worth the trip. Perhaps once a year or so, one of my leg muscles or somewhere in my knee joint would flare up during training and slow my running nearly to a halt. The experience was always incredibly demoralizing. And perhaps more demoralizing was the fact that repeated bouts of physical therapy didn't seem to prevent the issue from occurring in the future. It always felt like something was missing, so I searched around for an expert that could help me piece it together. I sat down with Jason for my initial evaluation, prepared for another month long routine of stretching and glute strengthening exercises. But even within the first half hour of meeting me, Jason was already subverting my expectations. He effortlessly identified a lack of hip mobility and tight quads -- the ultimate "etiology" of the knee pain as he called it. He sent me off with some hip mobilization exercises, and when I came back soon after he offered to dry needle my quads. The difference these two changes made were night-and-day. The nightmare of another month of PT had vanished in an instant, and I was back to running nearly pain-free. And what's more so is that the results have lasted. A few short weeks in Jason's care, and I've been back to the running grind nearly flawlessly for months on end now. Jason is truly different than other PTs I've worked with in the past. As a woman, I often feel uncomfortable in healthcare situations, especially when it's as "hands-on" as physical therapy can be. I admit to being remiss in not checking out staff credentials ahead of time. My referral order was for PT, so I assumed the staff might have informed me that no one I would be working with had an advanced degree in that area. I'm sure the staff is very well qualified for personal training, but I would not recommend this place for PT. My care was mainly directed by a former nurse practitioner/firefighter/EMT. After showing me an exercise, I was off-loaded to an admin person with no credentials at all in PT. The supervisor, who spent about 5 minutes with me per session, actually trained in chiropractic care and acupuncture. After 3 sessions, I did not feel I was receiving the care I needed. I also felt very out of place and uncomfortable in addition to not making any progress. I cancelled the rest of my appointments and started with an organization where each therapist has a doctorate in physical therapy. That person worked with me one-on-one for the full session. I immediately began to make real progress and benefitted enormously from the care I received. In summary I'd say before starting anywhere, check the qualifications of staff members and make sure they align with your needs. For me the only good part of this experience was being greeted each time by Adrean. He is an extraordinary customer service person and a kind, warm, and welcoming one. He was extremely efficient and the sole reason I gave Balanced Flow a two-star rating instead of one.

Imagine that, a chiropractor who is open on the weekends! He went in for an adjustment with Dr. Case and had a wonderful experience. I had been going to another chiropractor downtown repeatedly for months for an injury from falling and I, normally very active, still couldn't walk normally (this was my second downtown Chicago chiropractor!). Following my husband's recommendation, I went to see Dr. Case. Her very first adjustment had me walking 90% better! I was amazed! Because of a lung surgery I had some weaknesses and was more easily injured, so I came regularly and Dr. Case's adjustments helped to build me back up. Fast forward a few years... I feel strong and I no longer have regular back pain. We're still coming in for tune-ups. My husband has referred many of his coworkers here, and they keep coming back. Dr. Lazar is wonderful too. We have both had adjustments from him as well. I love that UHI is a family run business. Braden is always friendly while running the front. It's a large space, but it has a homey feel with relaxing music and art. Dr. Case even prints out her inspirational wellness writing and poetry which patients can read and take home. I feel grateful to have such a gifted healer for a chiropractor. She cares tremendously about her patients. With contagious positive energy and skill, Dr. Case goes above and beyond to help her patients in any way that she can. I can't recommend UHI highly enough!

Update: over a year later the office continues to harass me for payments I was consistently misled…read moreabout. This place is not into "Universal Health" in any way. "Universal health" means health for everyone, regardless of income, race, gender, sexual identity, etc. Which is far from the truth here. It's clear UHI only caters to the top 1% of our population. If that's you, then please, go to UHI for treatment. You are who they are looking for! I'd compare this company's ethics to someone more like Donald Trump, than say a supporter of universal healthcare like Bernie Sanders. But sort of a reversed Donald Trump? Like Donald Trump says he'll pay his construction workers, then doesn't. UHI says you don't owe them anything, then they harass you with bills and gaslight you into thinking your consistent experience w being misled about costs doesn't matter. One more comparison for the road, in hopes that I can make my experience more clear to the administration: it's like Starbucks saying you can come in for a free drink, then they send you a bill for that "free" drink months later.
