We did the dolphin encounter and snorkel in Maui and we had a good time. The boat is pretty nice, you can sit upstairs or downstairs (if you get a little sea sick). They provide breakfast (which was fruit and muffin) and lunch as well (BBQ sandwiches, coleslaw and chips). They have a bar with free waters and sodas and $3 alcohol. The snorkel part was a blast. They took us to the best area in Maui to snorkel. It was super calm and clear water. We could see all sorts of fishes and turtles. They provide snorkel equipment, various flotation devices and have lifeguards in the water. Sounds great? Well why did I only give them 3 stars? It's because of the timeshare presentation. We were offered this sweet deal of $100 off per person of our snorkel tour if we attended a 2 hour timeshare presentation beforehand. And wow BIGGEST MISTAKE ever. They make it sound so easy to get through the timeshare presentation and had zero obligation to buy the timeshare. But since we never been to one before, we didn't know what to expect. It was a HORRIBLE experience. They are 10x worse then used car sales people. First of all, we were there for 3 hours total. The first 2 hours were fine, they run through all the nice things about Diamond Resorts. But that was just to tire you out. Then comes the worst part when the manager talks about pricing. They don't accept "no" for an answer until you've said it 15 times. They try to make you feel guilty of passing up on their huge savings they offered. The first offer was $88,000 for the timeshare, then it drop down to $27,000 and down again to $17,000. They make it seem like your dumb to pass up on this much savings. Then they start throwing free vacations at you and says things like "how could you pass up on free vacations?!?!" The manager gets pretty hostile with you and upset when you say no. After finally leaving the sales room, they make us do a survey in order to get our snorkel discount. However the survey turned out to be one final sales pitch and this person annoyed us the most. Please (Quicksilver Charters) disassociate yourselves from Diamond Resorts. No amount of money off was worth the discount we received. They just annoy and piss people off. read more

Great trip. Great people. Great fun. This was an amazing trip. Very professional on the safety of the customers. But also very fun. The day we went out to Lana'i, there were some good wildlife that we saw. Octopus. Spotted eagle ray. Huge trumpet fish. Parrot fish. And more. On the remainder of the trip, we tracked down dolphins. Saw spinner dolphins of Lana'i and a nice pod of pan tropical spotted dolphins as we were heading back to Lahaina. The captain was very excited about spotting the pan tropical spotted dolphins. All 4 of us loved this half day spent with the crew of the Quicksilver. Highly recommended. The food? It was just fine. Breakfast was good and lunch was good. Best Mai Tais of my whole 2 weeks here. And only $2. Have been longing for one of their Mai Tais ever since. read more

We just did the Lanai trip with seven adults and six kids age 6 months to 11 years. The surge was South surge was bad in Lanai so we North up the coast. We did two fun snorkels. The staff were great with the kids. Seriously, they treated the kids super great. Breakfast and lunch were great. Cold beers just $2. We had a great day with a great crew and great boat. We went to snorkel on Quiksilver this morning. Check in is at 6:45am. The parking is cheap - I went for the 6-7 hours, but you can probably do 5-6. It's only an extra 50 cents for each additional hour. Once we boarded, we got some breakfast - fresh fruit (pineapples, cantaloupe, grapes, and strawberries). Pineapple wasn't great. They have a few pastries/danishes and muffins (coffee cake, blueberry) as well. Because it was such an amazing day, we went to the turtle bay first which they normally don't do. We pretty much had the whole reef to ourselves and got to see one sea turtle while we were there. Along the way, we saw a young humpback whale (a little late in the season, but glad we saw one) and a bunch of dolphins. We also got the wet suits for 10 bucks - water isn't that cold, but it does get cold if you're not moving around. On the molokini crest, there were tons of unique fish and it wasn't as crowded since we stopped by turtle bay first. Very clear and blue waters. Lunch was either a teriyaki chicken sandwich or pulled pork. The pork was smoked and juicy - definitely the better of the two. Comes with macaroni salad, lettuce, tomato and cheese if you want. Drinks are also 2 bucks. Great experience and good sights! We got back around 12:45pm and time to do other sights. read more

Had a nice time aboard the Quicksilver. The cost was reasonable and the staff very friendly and attentive, and knowledgeable about the area and ecology. The captain had a very dry sense of humor, which I appreciate. They have plenty of well cared for equipment. We moored in what is known as Turtle Bay. There were several other boats there, which meant I'm we saw more people than fish or turtles. I was very sad to see most of the coral reef in that area was dead. Folks, Please stop using so much sunscreen and let's stop being such a throw away society. Anyway, I suggest having something to eat prior to setting off on the pm tour. Lunch was after snorkeling and consisted of a steamed hot dog and bag of chips. Overall, fun trip and nice people. Would book with them again. read more

The Lanai trip is a scam. They said the water was too rough to go there so they took us to a couple of snorkel spots on the north end of Maui. I saw they did the same thing the following day. It is a lot less fuel for the boat but the customer is getting ripped off. The crew was nice and the drinks were $3 so a good price. But, I would not recommend this tour. read more

6am - Ugh. Why is Edgar getting up this early on vacay? Oh yeah. The expensive ($49.95) snorkel trip that Edgar booked a couple of days ago that launches at 715am. A quick peek reveals that the storm clouds that rumbled last night have all blown away. In fact, it's so clear and warm outside, birds and butterflies are flitting about. Edgar is worried. The operator who took the order over the phone said that the "bbq lunch" promised on the brochure was only available during the summer. Hmm. Is Edgar going to get screwed? When Edgar was looking to book a snorkel trip to Molokini at Lahaina, there were cheap trips advertised on the sidewalk shops - only to be told that a lot of them involved listening to 90 minute timeshare pitches. A cute female crewmate has fired up the grill and has thrown on chicken breasts and burgers. More beautiful fish... more astonishing coral... we spot a turtle at the sea floor just chillin'. Edgar's heart skips a beat... We swim about the lava finger... THEN ANOTHER MOTHERF*CKING TURTLE swims right in Edgar's face. Other swimmers arrive. The turtle hovers for what seems like an eternity as if to say "That's right, b*tches, take all THIS in. Who's 'The Man'?" After having basking enough in all the swimmers' adoration, the turtle swims away. Other turtles surface like notes wafting from Miles Davis' trumpet.... The crew hollers "Quicksilver..." 11am - Onboard, the skipper announces that lunch is served. While Edgar's in the food line, Edgar spies an unfortunate woman who hasn't quite gotten her sea legs, holding a dirtied towel. Edgar's so famished that this sight of sea-sickness doesn't prevent Edgar from gobbling up his burger. (ironically this is the healthiest meal Edgar's had so far on this trip since it actually involves lettuce, tomatoes and onions). The skipper then announces the piece-de-resistance: the boat will circle the water to look for whales... It doesn't matter to Edgar - since coming face-to-face with the turtle already delivered the goods for this trip. 12pm - The skipper talks a little about the history of Maui... There's a collective gasp... People point starboard... a mama and juvenile Humpback breaching... then disappearing beneath the surface... We stare hypnotized at the courtship struggle of mythic proportions (she must be one hot Humpback). And with a flick of their tails, the leviathans dive down... The trio pops up one more time hundreds of feet away from us... Good luck, fellas. It was the perfect climax to an already eventful day. 1pm - We pull back into the harbor. This tour was hands down the best snorkeling tour in town. The crew was very fast, efficient and friendly. They provided good food and drinks. Wet suit was available to rent, but we didn't really need it. On the way back, the captain did a great job of entertaining us with facts about whales while we watched humpback whales in competition. Not sure where to start as we did not expect that we will have so much fun with Quicksilver. First off I would recommend this trip to everybody and is completely worth it. We started early in the morning and the check in process is quick , requires one to sign the disclaimer. They serve some snacks and proper lunch during the course of the trip.The whole trip takes atleast half a day and the boat gets back little after lunch time.Everything is included in the ticket price except the rental camera and wet suites. I would suggest getting a waterproof phone cover if you don't have go pro.We went in December , winter by Hawaii standards & we did not use the wet suits. Feel the water and avoid wet suits. Best part of the trip is getting to Molokini crater and snorkeling around the crater. We also stopped in between for turtle watching and captain made couple to stops to show us the whales. Disclaimer - Please try snorkeling even if you don't know swimming, and it's your first time. Staff is super helpful and they make sure that you are okay. I would like to specially acknowledge how awesome the staff was, everybody right from the captain to the guys helping out on deck were super helpful and nice. They made sure that everybody had a great time. If I ever plan to do this again I will definitely choose Quicksilver!! read more

Of course, one could argue that the dolphin and whale watching are incidentals and are bound to happen on your way to molokini but our boat definitely made a point to stop when we saw dolphins and whales and would follow for a bit... And would turn the boat so we could get good photos. The breakfast was basic but satisfying. Really, you want enough to have energy to swim but no so much you'll chuck it out once you're out on the water. The lunch was heavy and very good. Pulled bbq is the one i chose but they have a couple of options. Sanitized snorkeling equipment is provided. They have floaters if you cant swim. They have these mini boats with plexiglass bottoms so your toddler can look at the fishies while you're snorkeling or pushing the mini-boat around. Aside from the ladders to get down from the boat to the ocean, you have the option to slide! Awesome! When it's time to go, they don't do a head count: you come up to the designated person, give them your name and then they'll cross you off. You know, to avoid that Open Water situation. read more

Everyone on board was great - Jamieson and Ash were the 2 that stood out to us. Jamieson took really good care and helped my 74 year old mother getting all the necessary flotation that she could snorkel as well. This excursion was a HUGE highlight of our vacation. We loved seeing all the dolphins (there were around 25 of them swimming) and snorkeling with the sea turtles was an awesome experience. My boyfriend asked me if I wanted to go and I said not really but you have fun. He asked me again and it was a stressful week so I didn't have the energy to argue and said yes. I'm really glad I did. The crew was very friendly and were incredibly nice while I sat on the boat sea sick. They kept getting me ginger ale over and over again and were very accommodating to me as I told them I was allergic to honeydew. They gave me a separate serving spoon and probably would have rinsed off the fruit I picked if I asked them to. I saw a few turtles and saw a ton of coral. I also puked in the water and my boyfriend was so happy to see the fish so close. Just like they said on the boat "The fish will thank you. It's the only hot meal they'll have for the day." I nearly gagged again. I also got to watch my boyfriend grab his friends' ass thinking it was me, startling her, and then apologizing profusely. Lots of time to snorkel and, when we were cruising, we were told all kinds of informative and interesting stories about the history of the islands. So much more than we ever expected! Staff was attentive and friendly. A boxed breakfast was served within the first 15 minutes of ride which included a muffin and fresh fruit. The boat ride was rocky and I ended up getting motion sickness along with others, I recommend staying on the bottom deck to reduce the feeling and take Dramamine before the boat ride. If you forget no worries crew has it and they can add it to your tab along with ginger chews and ginger ale. I did see they were super attentive to those who needed to "feed the fish" lol. Staff followed safety protocols and said jokes to ease the ride and uneasy feelings some had. When we arrived at Manele bay the crew went over safety protocols again and addresses concerns. I don't know how to swim but they suggested to gear up and offered a little boat for children which has a window so they can also get to experience it. My fearless 5 year old had no problem putting on her snorkeling googles and flippers. I was terrified but I was willing to try it for her. I'm so glad I did! It was an amazing first timer experience and thanks to the staff for giving me that push of confidence to go out and try it. Snorkeling was about an hour in the water. During your time they do take photos of your group in case you didn't bring your go pro which you can purchase later for $60.00, larger groups will pay more. Tip: if you bring your go pro a red lenses filter will enhance your footage. Water is crystal clear but very blue in deeper areas. Lunch was served after snorkeling which was a turkey breast sandwich with chips and cookie they also have vegan options. The bar was open for drinks and the Mai tais were poured well. I booked this snorkeling trip in advance of our Maui vacation. I booked the Lana'i dolphin or Turtle Town cruise. Rain was in the forecast on day we were scheduled, so I called that morning to double check we were still going. The gal that answered was a little snarky when telling me they wouldn't cancel for rain. Here is the interesting part, when I asked if we were going to Lana'i or Turtle Town, I was told they never go to Lana'i in the afternoon as it is a 1 hour and 10 minute drive. The description, on their website, for the afternoon trip does list Lana'i. When we boarded, I very nicely mentioned that we had forgotten our towels and asked if there were any available. The reply was that they were available for sale, and that she wished they could supply them for 100 people, but they just couldn't. Her tone was so sarcastic. Honestly, she was snarky with several passengers, also making fun of previous passengers and their lack of skills. Also, no towels for sale after all, another passenger wanted one as well. They took us to a spot to view turtles, that can be accessed from land. They brought us back 45 minutes early due to weather, but didn't offer another cruise or a discount for the lack luster trip, they just gave free booze (as many drinks and shots as one wanted) for the inconvenience. I would never go near this company again. It really feels like a scam. Also, at the end they beg for tips and say how they all have to survive in Maui! We did two trips on PAC Whale and they are amazing! read more

Had a blast! Loved every bit of it, we paid the extra to Snuba at Lanai. As soon as we went down into the water we were above a turtle eating underneath us. Saw huge schools of fish all around us. The Dolphins are visible 80% of the time so you should be ready to maybe not see them. Just since they're wild and aren't contained. We didn't see them until we were on our way out but we got to follow them in the boat and saw a huge pod full of jumping dolphins. The crew was absolutely amazing, captain Keri was hilarious and made the trip awesome with coop stories and his World Famous Trivia, we won a t-shirt. We've done a lot on Maui and this may end up being our favorite excursion. read more

The entire crew on this charter was great. Most friendly people on any charter we been on in Maui. Our 18 month old daughter got sea sick with about an hour left of the sunset cruise. The staff made sure to not only take care of our baby but also make sure she was comfortable and happy until we made it back. I felt bad for them having to cater to us but I was fortunate they did because I did not expect that kind of service. My only actual complaint was the food wasn't all that amazing but the cake was really good. As far as my experience on the charter it was 5 stars for me and my family. I booked the snorkeling and dinner cruise blindly before arriving on the island so I wasn't sure what to expect. My son has autism is I was a little concerned about him being able to handle the snorkeling but to my surprise, there was a young lady (staff--lifeguard) who very graciously offered to have him ride on her board and she was excellent with him. It is thanks to her that my son was able to enjoy the snorkeling and next time we're in the island, we'll definitely book with Quicksilver again. read more

Went on the Molokini, turtle and south shore treck today and it was great. All the staff were great and fun. The boat may not be the biggest or fanciest but I liked it. As far as I know, this is the only charter boat that gives you a water view of the southern tip of Maui where the most recent lava flows (1790) are. The skipper has a lot of info and you can't tell that he has most likely given the same story over and over. You can tell that this is more than a job to him. read more

Excellent crew and experience, would definitely recommend. For about 115.00 per person our trip started at 7:20. Check in was at 6:45 but we waited for people who were running late. Personally, i would have just left them... A light breakfast of fruit, pastries and coffee was nice. The lunch was a choice of chicken and pulled pork with a macaroni salad. It did the job. Took a trip to Lanai today on this boat. The crew was friendly and welcoming. The captain was an amazing "driver" as well as gave us a lot of history of the islands. The food was decent. I'd try adding maybe a protein for breakfast to hold us over more. Also the "must arrive at 645 am but we dont board until pretty much 730am" thing was very annoying. If your going to make us wait for 45 minutes at least supply us with coffee while we wait since it didnt seem like any coffee place was open. Worst service ever. I missed my departure and was refused a reschedule for a later date. Most companies offer a future date but not them. The Karen over the phone was rude and curt. There's so much traffic going to the pier and the parking is bananas. When a customer has prepaid for a tour the least they could do would be offer a future date. First of all, I must say that the captain & crew are top notch! They are very friendly, attentive & efficient! Let the guys make you a Mai tai (cocktails are only $2). The lunch served was delicious & totally hit the spot. They had a choice of grilled chicken breast or pulled pork & pasta salad. I had the pork & it was phenomenal! They also serve homemade chocolate chip cookies- they are served warm & fresh. Don't forget to grab a cookie or two! You have an option to rent underwater cameras for $40 & you can rent wetsuits for $10/piece. You should save your money on the wetsuit, as the water isn't cold... even in December. As for the snorkeling venture- it's about a 40-50 minute trek to Molokini where you snorkel in very clear blue water. You can't get too close to the crater because it's protected but it sure is a great experience. Next up is a quick ride to Turtle Town (Makena beach) there you will see million dollar homes (David Bowie & Tiger Woods have places there) the water isn't as clear as Molokini but there are more reefs & many more assortments of fish & of course turtles! We saw about 3-4 turtles on this trip. On the way back to the Harbor we got a very unexpected whale show. Whale watching is in full effect in December- we were fortunate enough to see about 4 whales that were very active! Keep in no mind this doesn't always happen :) regardless you'll have a blast! Not sure how anyone could say anything bad about The Quicksilver Snorkeling trip to Molokini and Turtle town! My husband and I have been on this trip twice and somehow it was even more fun the 2nd time. ( I think it had to do with the really fun people sitting at The Bow with us.) The crew (especially John) does a fabulous job of getting people excited about the day, but it's really up to YOU to embrace the awesomeness. It made me a little sad to see people glued to their phones when gorgeous whales were breaching near by. Lots of whales! Oh whale. (see what I did there?) The snorkeling is Epic! I'll never forget that, because some crazy lady decided to corner it into the crater. Not a good idea. He swam up under her and warned her (with his big open mouth) to back off. HaHa! This year we saw 2 huge turtles! One of them swam right up to us. I had to swim backwards not to bump into it! After all the snorkeling, the hot lunch they serve is so appreciated. I wanted to give a big shout out to all the staff they were all amazing !! The captain went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time .. unfortunately I felt sea sick and was afraid I was going to ruin the trip for my daughter all of the staff members were so attentive and came to my rescue to try to make me feel better. Even though I didn't get in the water we definitely saw some whales and turtles . I also wanted to thank mark melendez that recommended this activity for our group I really appreciate his honesty and I got really good deals with him and it's so much easier to book through him. Thank you so much to all the staff of quicksilver it's my first time in Maui and in Hawaii I definitely recommend this to everyone! Captain Paul is the best. He's knowledgeable and well spoken, humorous and friendly. His crew is competent and accommodating. The photo staff, however was rude and aggressive. The blonde, taller, surfer looking haole guy said in a very rude tone "or you could just walk right past your picture." That totally ruined what was an otherwise awesome whale watch. Would have been a 5 star review if that guy wasn't there. read more

At first I was disappointed because the water was to rough to go to Lanai, but we went to turtle town then our captain went out of her way to find dolphins And let us swim out in the big blue beautiful ocean!! Awesome ! read more

This was the best whale watching experience I've had. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and funny. Great history and background information provided by Captain Paul. We went in early December which is early for whale watching. The captain went out 10 miles from shore to find a group of active whales. Very generous pours at the bar with $3 mixed drinks.
