The food doesn't taste good to me. I've ordered on three separate occasions now and I was dissatisfied each time.

Temari is a very casual Japanese-owned restaurant offering homey Japanese cuisine. I've been…read moremeaning to check it out and I finally did a couple Saturdays ago. It was really popular that evening, so the three of got squished at the table meant for two, but we didn't mind. The menu is pretty extensive, offering ramen, udon, tonkatsu, rice bowls, grilled fish sets, and more. We ordered pretty quickly, but with how busy it was, it took a bit for the food to come out CHILEAN SEA BASS - 37 As I scanned through, my eyes immediately fell on the miso sea bass. Despite the price point, I knew I had to go for it because sea bass is hard to find around here. This set came with rice, house salad, miso soup, and cold tofu. The sides were pretty standard -- no compliments, but no complaints either. On the other hand, the sea bass was wonderful. Super creamy and soft, with a strong miso sweetness that packed so much umami upon each bite. I would definitely splurge on this set just for the sea bass. My friend got the ramen and didn't love it, so I'll probably avoid that during future visits. The katsu curry that the table next to us ordered looked and smelled amazing. Overall, food was delicious and homey. I'd definitely recommend!

Cutest hole in the wall!!…read more Authentic Japanese food on Rockville Pike. Never knew what I was missing... their sushi seriously tastes like it was made with love. Absolutely floored by the fatty tuna sushi roll. It is on the pricier side, but honestly, I don't think I even minded. We got the katsu and sashimi combo plus some rolls on the side. The katsu was delicious, and the sashimi was super fresh. The combo also came with the cutest little side dishes, really adorable presentation overall. The staff was also incredibly attentive about my friend's allergies (dairy and nuts). They kept checking in with us and even showed us the sauce ingredients to make sure everything was safe. One of the staff members called my friend "kawaii" after hearing her long list of allergies lol, and honestly, that made my day.

So many different flavors in a small bite! I sat at the bar and got the best service from the bartender! I love that this place is lowkey and in the cut. They're also open late! Overall, this is decent sushi made much more appealing by its extensive happy hour…read more We visited during happy hour, which featured a strong selection of seafood, cocktails, sake, and wine. The discounts were quite noticeable. The seared salmon normally costs $10 but drops to $4 during happy hour. Service was not the fastest but our server was very kind and accommodating. *Lychee Cosmo: sweet and fragrant. Although it was advertised as lychee forward, it leaned more toward a cherry blossom or floral profile and tasted somewhat artificial. *Kusshi Margarita: refreshing with a solid pour. *Seared Fatty Salmon: a nicely thick cut of salmon that was evenly seared. I did wish the mayo topping had more flavor as it felt more textural than impactful in taste. *Nigiri and Sashimi Combo: came with three pieces each of sashimi and nigiri, featuring tuna, salmon, or yellowtail. I was impressed by the thickness of the cuts. The tuna was tender and clean, the yellowtail was rich and fatty, and while the salmon was leaner, it was still fresh and not fishy. *Toro Crispy Rice: the tuna was very rich and fatty. The rice was well prepared and not overly oily, but the dish could have used something acidic or herbal, like shiso or pickled radish, to balance the richness. *Salmon Avocado Roll: the avocado complemented the lean salmon well. The roll was generously filled and the rice did not overpower the ingredients. *Spicy Tuna Roll: the tuna was quite mild, so the roll lacked strong flavor, though the fish itself was tender. Structurally, the roll was well made and evenly filled. *Salmon Sushi Bowl: came with six slices of salmon over plain rice and pickled vegetables. I wish the rice had been seasoned with vinegar. The pickles added a nice crunch and contrast. *Scallop Nigiri: not part of the happy hour menu. The scallop itself was large and soft, with more natural saltiness than sweetness. It would have benefited from a more acidic rice base to balance it out. The sushi itself is not particularly memorable, but it is solid across the board. I would not pay full price, as there is room for improvement in flavor, but the happy hour value brings this closer to a four star experience rather than a three and a half.

We were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant is located in the main shop area of Rockville Town Square. There is plenty of parking available with nearby garages and street parking. We decided to do the AYCE Classic Set, there is a 90 minute limit and you are handed an iPad to order your selections. There is a limit of items that you can add... if I recall it was 10-15ish? Then once you submit an order you have a 5 minute limit before you can order your next batch of items. We ordered so many items, some of our favorites outside of the BBQ meats were: - Spicy Tuna Tartare - Shishito Peppers - Garlic Cucumber - Kuro Squid Noodle The meats were all high quality with generous portions. The time limit and wait times between orders were reasonable, we all left super full with time to spare. My two toddlers ate for free, I do not recall the cutoff age, but they are 1 and 3 if that gives some perspective. The food was excellent and the service matched. Our server David was very attentive, checking on us multiple times to clear plates and see if we needed anything. The table space has limited space due to the grill in the middle, but he was on top of making sure we were comfortable and taken care of. I really appreciated the extra time he took with actual plate placement, nothing hot close to the toddlers and even calling out when placing a hot item down to make sure hands and arms were clear. Delicious food, great service and perfect for families or large groups, I will definitely be coming back in the future :)

We did the lunch special and I ordered the hangar steak bento box with curry rice, garlic cucumber, chicken karrage and more. 10/10!!!!!! Service was great. Our servers were great and incredibly attentive. The restaurant is cozy yet romantic. I am definitely coming back to try their dinner or happy hour menu.
