Chicken & Shrimp Teriyaki Combo (4 stars)
    Phi N.

Haven't had this in decades but it's simple and still delicious. I made the mistake of getting extra sauce on my chicken and shrimp teriyaki (because I saw the guy in front of me do it). It ended up being way too saucy for me. In the past, I would have just put soy sauce and siracha on the rice and it was way better.

    Incomplete sushi

Ordered their sushi roll, it said 8 pieces on description. This is what they gave me, and looks like incomplete order. I spoke to manager, manager doesn't care about customer. Will never go again.

I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant as I only know the ones in mall food courts which exclusively sell teriyaki chicken. While they still serve their classic teriyaki, they also have sushi options - classic rolls as well as specialty rolls. We got the spicy tuna and the volcano roll. The spicy tuna roll was a little lackluster for me, but my mom and I enjoyed the volcano roll! Overall, this place is a good Asian fast food option.

It's weird seeing a Sarku that's not in a mall. This new storefront location replaced the old Five Guys in the Aspen Hill Shopping Center. The interior is bright & inviting and doesn't have the industrial look & feel like most places in the area do. I think it's exactly what you'd expect out of a Sarku. They seemed pretty on point with everything here for it being brand new. My only gripe is the teriyaki sauce. It didn't really do much to the food in terms of flavoring. Still prefer yum yum sauce with things like this lol. Not a bad option for the price point, and you could tell it's slightly better quality than the mall locations.

Teriyaki Chicken w/ Mixed Vegetables on white rice

After turning into a franchise, the place isn't the same anymore like it used to be where it was in the Wheaton Plaza old food court on the bottom level. Their portions are smaller now, the mixed vegetables is now just shredded carrots and green cabbage (before, it used to also include bean sprouts, and broccoli), their extra sauce on the side is a bit more salty than sweet compared to before, and now you have to pay extra for fried rice or noodles and I believe it used to be free. I usually get fried rice when it was free; now I have to op for white rice for the first time in a long time. At least their fancy, reusable, recyclable, microwavable, dishwasher safe take out container with thei logo is nice..

    the receipt for the restaurant

For the amount that was paid I would've thought the food is at least decent but was I wrong! Food at a food court compared to here is way better and you'll probably pay a lot less. Don't go here or you'll regret because I know I did! Had to go to McDonald afterward because I threw more than half the food I ordered away. No good!

Their food is pretty good though they seem in a rush always and don't really interact with customers.

Even without a reservation, I was seated immediately, which was a great first impression. The service was excellent. Our server mentioned it was her first day, but you would never have guessed as she was attentive, warm, and handled everything beautifully. The food truly stood out. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The hibachi experience was just as enjoyable. The chef was entertaining, skilled, and added a fun, engaging touch to the meal. The restaurant itself is clean, inviting, and has a great atmosphere that makes you want to stay and enjoy your time. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great sushi or hibachi experience.

I think that the customer service was excellent and the chef had charisma, personality, and should do stand up, he was a pleasure and a joy such a guy with rizz. My issue was the food itself as the rice was amazing but did not age well being taken back home for take out, and the chicken and salmon were not as flavorful as a homemade version I would had cooked so there was the blandness. I ended up having digestive issues and got sick for a day or two after eating from here which was disappointing, because the vibe is awesome in this spot and the positive energy is contagious. I felt so relaxed and joyous here. I think the food can be cooked better even though they are generous with excellent portion sizes. I think it is a strong contender for one of the best restaurants in the region if they step the food preparation up. I also did not like this sauce they provided, but it does have better customer service than the typical DMV spots which tend to struggle with the customer service, so they get an A with that making you feel welcomed and respected and not strictly transactional experience, very warm, nice, attentive, diligent, and hard working staff, so they have the bones here, so once they step up the actual food prep and quality then they will be 4 to 5 stars easily. That is all I got!

Sushi night in my neck of the woods? Why not?!…read more I'm a huge fan of "hole in the wall" gems, and I think Akagi qualifies for that distinction. What do I mean? Well... It's a place that isn't too big, didn't have a crazy pop, but the food hits just right, every time. It's certainly a gem. Yesterday (Friday night), two friends (one celebrating a bday) and I wanted to get some sushi and keep it pushing. We went to Akagi right up the road and got ordering right away. The service? The staff was so kind and treated us like regulars. Jokes, refills, and the owner personally made us some matcha lattes, that really enhanced our night. The server had a great sense of humor and gave solid recommendations (I got the American dream, imma get it again, too!). Everything was highkey delicious. The ambiance is cool, but I wish more people came through. We didn't have a lot of people close by to sing with us, so I had to show the staff - and half of Rockville - my singing prowess (or lack their of) on the happy bday music. Not the Stevie, if you're wondering. For the bday dessert, we split the tempura cheesecake. It was serious work. Seriously. Not too sweet, but something about the crust being fried with the cheesecake filling just took it over the top. Maaan it was good. The sushi? The sushi?! Fairly priced, big portions, well styled, rocked my socks off with eel sauce. We shared as a table and really just had a ball. Between the service, humor, bday singing, delicious food, and extra attention to detail, this may be a "hole in the wall" fave for years to come. I suggest checking them out and diving head first into the sushi/dessert. Good times/good vibes. Oh and, Happy Bday, Kev!

The rolls that I ordered were of good quality, and the sushi boat was fresh and incredible. Great portions too, and everyone in my party was satisfied with the food. Unfortunately I did find two fish scales in one of the sushi boat's nigiri, and that could have been rough since someone in my party has a lot of trouble chewing. I was offered a $10 discount, but the system wouldn't allow it to be stacked with another discount that someone else in my party originally had. I asked for the existing discount to be removed so that it could be used on another visit, but the server misunderstood me and ran that one instead of the discount we were offered that day for the mishap. By the time I figured out that there was a mistake, we didn't have time to correct it due to personal schedules. I've enjoyed most of my experiences with Kusshi over the years, but I do hope that they'll figure out a way to ensure that their sushi doesn't have inedible extras.
