There was a well curated collection, including titles from Record Store Day. I resisted buying vinyl I saw from The Cranberries, Garbage, Britney Howard, and a Godzilla soundtrack. There were also turntables, speakers, vinyl storage cases, cassette titles, and other items like soaps and candles. Worth a detour if in the area.

Since it was our wedding anniversary weekend we each picked out 2 records to be our souvenirs for the trip. The other thing I loved, they have rewards points. In my quest to locate cool, lesser known places, I stumbled across Jet Records while searching online and finally had a chance to visit. The store occupies the same building as a jet ski repair shop, which is a little odd to say the least, but trust me when I say that this place is a hidden gem. Specializing in traditional heavy metal, power metal and hard rock, it was right up my alley, and the gentleman that was working on the day I visited was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, taking the time go through the CDs they keep behind the counter with me so that I could pick out some sick discs. Indeed, although Jet Records is definitely more focused on vinyl, they also have a small yet killer CD selection and being more of a CD guy I walked away extremely satisfied, picking up new discs from Glacier and Leather Witch plus some used Anthrax and Armored Saint. If you're into old school trad/heavy metal, power metal or hard rock, you owe it to yourself to check out Jet Records.

I bought my turntable there. Ive even bought a shirt and some earrings from there. I've always had a great experience and a great conversation with Bruce or his help every time I walk in. I'm Latino as well so I can assure everyone there's ABSOLUTELY NO inappropriate behavior happening (see a previous 1-star comment). Vortex has a great variety of genres, everything is well laid out and easy to navigate. I'm always asked if I need help or if I'm looking for something in particular. Bruce has even special ordered me a few records he didn't have in stock. This is a great local business (in operation since the early 90s!) to support and I 1000% recommend stopping by.

The dude that works here is always super cool and happy to give recommendations if you so desire but also smart enough to just leave you be if you're in the mood for browsing through the assortment of CDs and vinyl without interruption. I bought a countless number of new CD's here...and the owner was always happy to order up new or rare copies of discs from bands I liked such as probot, sigur ros, athlete, distillers, old queens of the stone age, kaito and vendetta red...to name a few.... Prices were always reasonable and I even got some free CD's and samplers along with killer deals on vinyl.
