Deep fried shrimp dough not cooked through
    Vicki P.

I ordered a combo meal and egg flower soup. The chowmein is great, the rice was good, the sweet and sour pork was fine. The shrimp batter was super doughy, like raw and the soup was basically salt water with some egg.

    Beef and baby corn

Had a late night and needed to get something delivered to feed the family. We must of received the last of the left over food cause our order was almost non-edible. The sweet and sour pork we ordered was cold and hard as a rock and there was barely any sauce for it. The other order was chicken and broccoli and tender beef with baby corn nothing tender about the beef and tasted like it was scraped from the bottom of the barrel. When our food arrived the contents in it had spilled all inside the bag and there was chicken and broccoli inside all 3 of our orders. We ended up throwing our food away cause it was not edible. Pictures below, yes the sweet and sour will show mostly gone because it was dished up before picture could be taken.

    Chicken Fried Rice
    Paula A.

Worse chow mein I have ever had. It was like crispy chow mein noddles that were soggy. I expected traditional chow mein and I don't know what you call this. Also got chicken fried rice that was so flavorless. It didn't even look like chicken fried rice. The Beef with Peppers was more peppers and onion then beef and the sweet and sour pork was very tough. DO NOT EAT HERE!!

Metal fried into the daily special

The food itself was fine. Till I found a piece of metal fried into my food. Maybe order from somewhere else for mediocre Chinese food.

Been coming here off and on for years, located conveniently in a strip mall right on Fairview. I think they get most of their business from delivery house there is hardly anyone ever eating in here sometimes I've been the only one during lunch. I don't have any complaints about their food, I see mixed reviews on yelp but the food is always been very good and very consistent. The restaurant leaves some to be desired for as it is very run down with food under the tables etc. They are understaffed usually with one waiter who handles the whole restaurant, it must be owner/chef in the back and that's it. It's not the best out there but consistently quite good even their take-out I've always been happy with.

2 two choose your own combos
    Sarah L.

We had a build your own combo and did 2 of them. You can choose from fried rice or chow mein and we got 1 of each. Then you get to choose 2 entrees to go with it. We got kungpow beef, egg roll, mandarin chicken, and another spicy beef dish but I don't remember the name. It was all good nothing too impressive. It is close to my house and we were hungry and I'm sure we will visit again. I do know that they do a lot of carry out and delivery orders here as well.

CLOSED as of July 30, 2025…read more A couple originally from Portland (I think I have the city right) opened their kitchen offering take out only (delivery in limited area) Cantonese food that was pretty good for what it was. They operated out of one of the 17 ghost kitchens in what was the former CRAVE! Delivery kitchens in maybe 2024. (Honestly, the original owner of this original ghost complex added the naming emphasis but the original line up and the one that followed was a terrible disaster.) Now the owner of the ghost complex is apparently going to sell it. My understanding from the Wei people is they are closing now, they plan to travel (including China) for a while. Hopefully they'll come back and be able to open a bricks and mortar place. PS - Mai Thai that was also operating a take out operative from this same ghost complex after the kitchen fire and closure of their restaurant in downtown Boise announced earlier this month that they were leaving this ghost kitchen complex on July 27 and reopening in a Boise ghost complex. They didn't mention that the Meridian complex was being sold.

The generals chicken was soggy and perhaps it'd be better not to mix the sauce with the chicken, the other two dishes left something to be desired as far as I was concerned because the chicken pieces were too large like two slices and made vegetables were also large chunks. Overall flavor was acceptable. I guess the presentation was a biggest problem.

I'm amazed at what some people consider good Chinese food. I'm sorry to say this, but this place is…read morenot one of them. Never in my life have I ever walked out of a restaurant until this place. We ordered the egg roll (which is not a typical egg roll), it was huge with a lot of stuff inside it and was so big it could be an entree. That was the "better" item. We also ordered the spicy orange chicken. We could not figure out what parts of the chicken it was from, the meat looked so strange I honestly questioned if it was chicken. The breading was greasy & gross tasting (and I'm not opposed to greasy things). We had also ordered chow main at the same time as everything else, but after receiving our chicken dish & waiting 15 mins, we decided we wanted to just leave at that point. While we were waiting to try to get our check, the chef came out to go to the bathroom & his apron was disgustingly dirty. I'm scared of what the kitchen looked like if he was that dirty. When we got up to pay, we talked to the couple next to us & they agreed the place was terrible but they keep coming there (why?!). Writing this to try to save others from the disappointment (how is this a 3 star avg?).

I remember being amused at the amount of rice that was served to me, it was served in a ramekin. Service was ok. I wasn't all that impressed and haven't been back since. Well, here we are today. I'm hungry, I was in the mood for Chinese food and this joint is right by me. So, I decided to take my chances and give this joint a shot again. I made my way in and saw that they were busy with quite a few tables. Even though I didn't care for it the first time around, it was nice to see others still supporting our local businesses. Got myself situated at a little table. My server was handling a bigger table but finally got to me. I got my hot tea and lunch ordered. I didn't notice the first time that they have a build your own combo meals. That's such a fun way to be able to try a little of everything. I didn't want to be daring today. I wanted the classics. I ordered pork chow mien, mandarin chicken and fried rice. My plate came out hot and it all looked fabulous! The first thing that caught me eye was the fried rice. The rice had color to it! Most of the fried rice I have had lately has no color to it, this fried rice was properly seasoned. You can see nice bits of char su and onions through out my portion of rice. A nice portion I must add. The char su on top of my chow mien was bright and colorful. The chicken looked nicely fried and properly coated with sweet and sour sauce. My first bite was the Mandarin chicken dipped in hot mustard. That hot mustard is mandatory! Man was it good! The rice was soft and savory. I enjoyed it every much. I let the hard noodles soak up the sauce from the veggies in the chow mien. I normally have to add salt or soy sauce to the veggies but not today. The mix of veggies were flavorful and nicely seasoned. I like that they added cabbage to the veggie mix. Once the noodles softened, it was such a good bite with the veggies. I ate half of my plate and am planning to have the rest for dinner tonight. Honestly, today's meal was a 180 from my first meal. The food was so good! The service was the same though. It was pretty base line service. I am ready to give this childhood classic meal 5 stars but I have yet to try their hot and sour soup. That will be on my next visit, I must try the hot and sour soup cause I'm still in the hunt for the best one in the valley. I'm happy I stopped in today. I'm looking forward to coming back very soon, even if I have to drive clear across town to have it.

I recently read in the Idaho Statesman that this local Chinese joint was going to close at the end…read moreof the month. So sad, their situation. The rental company didn't give them an option to renew their lease. After 17 years, they are closing their doors without a choice. With closure comes choas. I remember when my family gave notice of our closure. We were chaotic from the time we announced it till the doors closed. Everyone is getting in their last hooray in. I anticipated that kind of madness when we stopped in for lunch today. And I was right, the place was a madhouse. When I have eaten here in the past, there was hardly anyone. It was just another table along with mine. It's always chill. Today on the other hand was pure madness. Tables were full of customers and dirty plates. I went ahead and sat myself and waited for my server. It took a minute for my server to get to me. She was the only one working so I just hung out till she got to me. Tea and menus were finally dropped off and I kicked it till my daughter showed up to have lunch with me. My daughter and I looked over the menu. Knowing it's our last meal at this joint, we decided to go ham. We both ordered soup, a lunch and I also snagged a tofu chow fun for later. My soup order was hot and sour. For lunch I went with your typical order of mandarin chicken, chow mein and pork fried rice. My daughter got won ton soup and beef with broccoli, fried rice and an egg roll. We waited for a hot minute for our food to be prepared. You can tell they were not staffed properly. Only one server with a whole dining room full of guests. I'm sure there were only a couple people working the kitchen trying to push out all of the orders coming in. Our soup did finally make it out. We both ordered small bowls but the bowl size was gracious. They were both hot and steamy. My hot and sour soup was ok. It wasn't really spicy but it did have a nice sour element to it. There were pieces of tofu, bamboo and carrots. It was thick and hearty but overall it was ok. My daughter's won ton soup was average. The broth was nice but there was not a lot of filling in the won ton. It was mainly won ton wrapper. And I found it odd that they put lettuce in the won ton soup. Lunch was dropped off shortly after we started working on our soup. When I placed my order, I had asked for fried rice with my meal. Server said it would be an extra charge and I figured it would be. My plate didn't have the fried rice. It only came with my chicken and chow mien. After I addressed my server about it, she looked completely lost. I got an "ok" and never saw her again. So, I just worked on what I had. The chicken was good. It was fresh this time around. I love the saltiness of the chicken with the sweet and sour sauce. The chow mien will always be one of my favorite dishes. It reminds me of my childhood, growing up at my uncle's Chinese restaurant and eating it all the time. I love when the crunchy noodles get all soft from the sauce. The bean sprouts are my favorite. The chow fun was really good. It was savory, the noodles were chewy and the tofu was perfectly fried. They will always have some of the best chow fun in town. I'm giving today's visit a 5 star but in reality it's truly a 3. I didn't get my rice, our server didn't really tend to our table and I had to get my bill adjusted for extra charges. I know the end of the road is coming soon for them but hopefully they will be able to prepare themselves for the next couple days because the choas will only get worse and clearly they need the extra hands. I wish these folks the best of luck with their future endeavors, whatever they may be. I'm happy I got one last meal in before doors are finally closed at the end of this month. Truly sad that another local joint will be just a fond memory for us now.

Most places have remodeled and taken out the charm and ambiance of restaurants making them stale. Lucky Palace still has that charm and evokes that feeling of being a kid, with your family, on a Friday night family date. I will say the food seems to be on the saltier side here, pretty consistently. And I am on the search for the best sweet and sour chicken in the valley, the chicken was overcooked on the sweet and sour and the sauce on the extreme sweet side. The one time I ordered generals chicken, it was a bit unmanageable to eat because of the salt. I never waste leftovers, I did not eat these leftovers because of the salt content. With that said, I think you can find some good things on the menu. We did enjoy the egg rolls (on the super greasy side), and my parents manage to find great options such as the Lo Mein. Give this a few tries and I do believe you can find a dish you will keep coming back for. Hidden in a strip mall type setup, you would never know it is there unless you are looking for it. I kind of like that. It feels hidden. Like a secret restaurant.
