Oh my goodness goodness gracious! This place is truly a quilter's paradise. I had never even heard of it before, but was passing through Snohomish recently and, of course, my car swerved into their parking lot as soon as I passed by. Downstairs, the place is about half fabric and half classrooms of various sizes. The fabric area is mainly quilting cottons, with a decent selection of patterns, and a recently-updated yarn area for the knitting and crochet crowd. They carry most of the main fabric designers for quilting, as well as batiks, holiday prints, and tons of solids and mixers. Accessories include any ruler, tool, or notion you could possibly need for quilting; plus they have sewing-inspired gifts, too. Upstairs, there are more classrooms (including a pay by the hour longarm rental room) and a large Bernina showroom. This area also has more patterns, as well as bagmaking supplies. The supply selection here is pretty good - lots of zippers, d-rings, etc. However, as with most things bagmaking, there just didn't seem to be enough stuff to satisfy my cravings for things like printed vinyl, waterproof canvas, rainbow zippers, etc. The sad truth for bagmakers is that it's hard to find a local option to shop these things; I end up buying most of my supplies online or at the Sew Expo. That being said, if you're a beginning bagmaker I'm sure you would find their supplies more than adequate. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, too - I was a little nervous about this after reading previous reviews, but I had no issues with service. I ended up buying a quilt pattern book and a really cool fabric-focused wall calendar that I can't wait to start using in January. I'll definitely be coming back here, and I hope to take a class or two in 2025. read more

Have been shopping here for years (since the old 1st St location) but I think I'm finally done. This week's terrible customer service experience just isn't an acceptable way to treat any customer. My first issue is on-going, and has been this way all along and includes not only employees but the owner as well. I have never once been greeted upon entering. Regardless of whether the employees are busy cutting fabric or just standing there gabbing amongst themselves. It literally takes a fraction of a second to greet a customer as they enter, even if you're with someone else. This is a huge customer service issue for me. A shop like this could be so welcoming and warm to everyone that enters. I don't know if it's just me (it's not if you read some previous reviews), or if you have to be in their clique to be acknowledged but this has never been a priority as far as I can tell. My issue this week was I went over to get fabric to coordinate with a project I'm trying to finish as well as to drop off my sign up for the UFO challenge. They were incredibly busy which is great, many people buying from multiple bolts of fabric and several people lined up waiting for fabric to be cut. As I asked someone if they knew why it was so busy they said there was a class that was on break and they had a time limit. Okay, makes sense. When I got to the cutting counter for my turn to have fabric cut I was met with a flustered male employee who seemed irritated that I wasn't part of the big line of class participants. Okay, you're busy. He did cut my fabric and accept my payment but when I asked 2 times about dropping off my UFO challenge sign up and showing my completed January entry he pounded his fists on the counter and was visibly annoyed that I was there asking for something he didn't know how to do. He huffed and mentioned something about "we have someone that does this and they're not here." Not really my problem. I had to tell him how I've seen it handled in the past years and he was again super flustered and outright rude to me. I should have just asked for my sign up back, if you're reading this you might as well just throw it away because I won't be participating in this or anything else at your shop again. I definitely would not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

This is a great place for quilters of all ages! They have excellent selection of the new collections that are coming out, and there is always new stuff when I go in, but on that note, if you find a really cute print and are hesitant about buying it, I'd say go for it in case they don't get it back! Sadly very very limited apparel/fashion fabric. If they carried more fashion fabrics, even just some basics like some suiting and wools and shirting, I'd be here all the time! (And if I'm able to special order whole bolts of fashion fabric, please let me know, i am constantly looking to get whole bolts of apparel fabric for my projects) read more

This place is super cool! Best quilting shop I've ever been to! This place might be called Quilting Mayhem, but, it is actually so satisfyingly organized that it might be worth a trip just to feel some order and peace in your life. There are all of these shelves with a spectrum of colors and countless options of patterns. I saw a bookshelf with 100 different options of white fabric alone. There are a lot of project options hanging around the store. Very cute. Very Snohomish. I actually don't make quilts, but I know people who do, and I'm definitely going to recommend this place. I otherwise felt very inspired for my own interest in either crocheting or visual graphics by looking at some of the available quilt patterns. read more

I visited Quilting Mayhem for the first time last weekend and I'm so glad I did! The selection is terrific. The building is spacious, clean and bright. The staff was pleasant and friendly but my favorite part of the experience was that after the lady cut the fabrics that I had chosen she folded them in a really lovely fashion instead of just handing them to me in squares. It was simple but it was an extra touch and made my purchase seem just a bit more special. read more

If you are ever near Snohomish, Washington you need to go to Quilting Mayhem. O.....M....G..... Quilting Paradise! It's is 17,000 square feet of fabrics, patterns, notions, machines, and meeting rooms (they hold quilting retreats), places to sew and (I think) even use a long arm. The staff was so friendly and helpful, each time I went to a different room i was asked if I needed help. They were holding a retreat at the time and even though the parking lot was packed (25+ cars), the store is so spacious you were not crowded at all. I told my husband (we are full timers), "I wanna buy a house in Snohomish, just because of this shop" But.....they ARE advertising for help....hmmmmmm -- at Quilting Mayhem. read more

Large selection of Bernina sewing and serger machines and a selection of long-arm machines plus threads, needles and everything else to do with machines. You can shop on-line or in the store. I've been to this shop enough times to leave a very honest review. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go into this store the women working there have been rude-ish. Let me start by saying I'm Hispanic in my mid 30s, and not to offended anyone, but I don't look like their average customer. Anyway, every time I walk into the store immediately someone comes up to me and ask me what do I need. Some may think "oh that's nice customer service." But, let me tell you that in the manner and tone they ask me it's far from nice. They obviously assume I'm lost and know nothing about sewing. I use to buy tons of fabric & thread there, but have stopped because, again, every time I go they treat me like I'm not welcomed, like I'm lost. Possibly because I'm Hispanic...One time I grabbed a variety of threads for my serger, a mix of polyester and stretch Maxi Lock. This women stopped me and told me very loudly that I have grabbed the wrong thread. Umm how does she even know I have the wrong thread. I told her I did not, I'm using it for my serger and I know exactly what I'm buying. Anyway, before this gets any longer I highly recommend you shop elsewhere. Cute shop, sort of, but just not worth going if they are going to try and make me feel like an idiot EVERY SINGLE TIME. (Today they gave me a tutorial on how to insert my debit card in their machine. I was extremely offended today when I was in the store. I have been looking for bobbins in 6 stores and none so thought I would stop in. I have a kitty cat mask and must have dropped it at the last stop. They require them no problem but I lost mine. The ladies coming out said just take one from the donation one and I thought no I dont know where those ones are going I ducked my head in and asked about a mask. Well she said $10. Um as a sewer I make them but need the bobbins and I know how much it costs. I walked out and wrapped a sweatshirt around my head so I could go in. I am on a very small disability payments. Ten dollars for a mask come on. I shop there and I am a regular customer. I love the store but that attitude will steer me elsewhere. read more

I have been a loyal customer since they opened but no longer will I shop there. I had an issue with a class I took which I tried to work out with the owner only to get a very rude and condescending response. The owner acted as though I was stupid and confused and I was the one with the issues. The worst customer service I have had at a Quilt Shop. Will never shop there again or take a class. We live in Seattle and will be back, often. Unlike other shops, this is a true, modern, and fun quilting shop. It feels fresh and fun- not like a florescent box where old people go to buy crafts. Loved: the bright wall colors, great organization and displaying of fabrics (great shelving units), the classroom upstairs and classes offered, staff was welcoming and kind. It was really a quilt shop- just patterns, fabric, and accessories. Nothing was cluttered or stuffed with other crafts. I don't even quilt, my mom does, but I would come back with her to hang out in this store. Loved it! read more

Just found this shop (again). They used to be on 1st and it was a hassle competing with the window shoppers that frequent 1st in Snohomish. Now they are on 2nd and their shop is huge! Loved how cute it is too... who would ever have thought of a fabric store as cute!?! I was in need of some "fuzzy/soft" fabric for my son who is a tactile texture seeking three year old. The ladies didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but they said they would be getting some more options that may suit my needs if I wanted to come back in a few days or so. Even though they didn't have exactly what I was looking for (but let's face it--I didn't really know what I was looking for other than something fuzzy) I did find some really cute minky type material and another very soft material with a really cute print on it. They had zillions of beautiful fabrics and if I was actually a quilter I'm sure it would have felt like quilt heaven! The ladies also didn't seem to be phased at all by my bouncing three year old who was hugging all the fabric and playing with buttons :/ The only suggestion I would have is maybe a bigger sign to attract more customers and let them know where they moved to. Or, maybe they had a huge sign and I didn't notice because I was chasing down a three year old?!?! To summarize... love this shop. Visiting new areas, I love to check out Quilt Stores. My husband says "You meet the nicest ladies at Quilt stores!" I wish that was true here. The clerk asked where we were from, we responded and no one asked if they could assist us in locating anything specific. After wandering the store for about 30 minutes, we left the shop. Beware of taking classes at Quilting Mayhem. They have a 5-day cancellation policy, which is not unlike a lot of other businesses, however, should an emergency arise such as illness, which you cannot predict 5 days in advance, they are unbending. They will not transfer your booking to another date the teacher has with them. Some of their classes are $100 or more and so, if you become ill you will be out that money with no recourse, no partial refund, no transfer/rescheduling. Too bad. They just keep your money and you lose out. Not very consumer friendly at all. read more

A great quilt shop that carries a good variety of fabric, including some minky. They have some fabric I haven't seen anywhere else and nice displays for inspriation. This is my hometown store and it is amazing! Trina was a life saver when was putting my Gypsy Wife together. I also love the use of Five Star at the store. The staff is always friendly and ready to help. The music played in this shop is just AWFUL. I've gone in this shop a couple of times over the past year and every time they are playing crappy music that has swear words and references sex etc. I understand that this music is more modern but considering how a lot of people who sew don't want to listen to that CRAP this was incredibly poor planning on the store's part. I feel anxious as I'm walking through the aisles because I just want to get away from the profanity. There are MUCH nicer quilting stores in Washington state. Ones that playing quieter music (either classical, or instrumental movie soundtracks) that are much more in line with browsing and thinking about your next sewing project--Especially considering how expensive this store is, it is not worth subjecting myself to horrible sounds. Please, quilting mayhem, consider your clientele... most people who shop in your store are not teenagers who love listening to this horrible hip-hop. read more
