First, we were ignored even though we were on the waiting list and several tables sat before us (yes, we were a party of 2 and so were the ones sat before us that came in after) Then the Prime Rib was NOT good. My wife and I stopped here for dinner on our way to Pikes Peak. When we arrived the host immediately asked me if I was familiar with their menu. Being that this was our first visit we were not. They have a very limited menu. The day we arrived you could only order Filet Mignon or vegetarian lasagna. I went with the filet. It came with an iceberg wedge, baked potato and a cantaloupe slice. The potato and wedge were very good as was the cantaloupe. The filet however was very tough. I ordered mine "medium" and it came correctly cooked. It was just very tough. To be honest the cost of the meal to include everything and a 15oz filet was $18.95 so the price was quite low. Obviously so was the quality of the beef. Great wait staff. Very attentive. read more

I can't give any more than 3 stars. Menu options are well there aren't any. Steak was tender but not a whole lot of flavor. I'm not sure you could call it a baked potato considering there was more foil surrounding it than there was actual potato. And the salad? Like why even pay? Great meal just make sure you like what ever they're serving that night because they only serve 2 things per night. Fillet was cooked perfectly and really tasty. Servers/bartenders were having a slightly inappropriate conversation over my shoulder almost the whole time but I don't blame the restaurant for that. This steak house has a simplistic menu with an exceptional value. It has a very cozy and charming interior. The booths have hooks to hang your coats/purses. The wedge salad with the house dressing is delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection, the bread pairs with very well with the meal and the baked potato comes with sour cream and butter. Came here with my parents and grandparents while on vacation. We were super excited to try Quincys. We made a 6pm reservation at an outside table which again, we were excited for! Seated at 5:55 right when we showed up. Unfortunately at 6:30, we still hadn't been offered drinks or menus. We did have a waiter stop by and say they would be with us soon...they never came back. We understand being stretched and busy but the reason we won't be back was 100% the staff. When asked about how long it would be we were told they were doing the best they could, the cook said they came out to help the bar...when asked how long the wait would be for food the COOK responded from behind the bar and said she wasn't busy in the back at all so once our order was taken we would have food quickly....there was no apology or offer to get us drinks at that point. Save your time, spend your money at K's, it may cost you more but you'll get GREAT service. Would love to rate the food but all we can rate is the service and it's downright awful. Tonight, I took my wife out to eat at Quincys. For 12 years we have always had good service, food and drinks. But this time we were seated beside another couple, the only ones in the house besides us, and left for over 15 minutes while we heard the waitresses talking and laughing by the kitchen. No water, no menus, no sight of a waitress. The place was also pretty warm and uncomfortable. What's up?? I will probably NOT go back there even though we liked eating there. I have eaten here many times over many years, the food and service has always been excellent. My favorite is the bacon wrapped filet, available in several sizes, and the prime rib is also excellent. If you can live with their limited menu selection, you will get a great meal at an excellent price found nowhere else. Their filet mignon is NOT actually filet mignon! We came here, and boasted about how amazing it was to find a 12oz filet mignon dinner for only $13 or $14. We were all going in on our steaks, and I noticed the meat texture was... Odd. Nothing like a filet, or any steak I've had. I didn't mention it because I thought it might just be me. A few minutes later, I noticed my friend dissecting her steak as well. She then stated that this was NOT a real filet, rather different cuts of meat pressed together to form the shape of a filet. They even wrapped it in bacon, which we discovered was to hide the creases in the side from where separate meat pieces were pressed together with a meat press! This slab of meat was the strangest thing I've ever seen in a restaurant. My friend who pointed it out to everyone then stated that she used to judge cuts of meat, and that this was most definitely NOT filet mignon. Once I arrived back home, I googled "pressed meat in filet mignon", and came up with a ton of articles that all said this is not uncommon in restaurants. Quote below: "Allow us to introduce you to a new ingredient messing with your dinner: Transglutaminase is an enzyme made by the fermentation of bacteria, and it enables industrial meat producers and purveyors to take cheap chunks of beef, "glue" them together, and create what looks like a pricey cut of meat. Unfortunately, this meat mishmash is not uncommon in the food service industry. By liberally dusting meat pieces with transglutaminase powder, squishing them into filet mignon-shaped molds, adding a bit of pressure to bond the pieces and chilling them -- voila, four-bucks-a-pound stew meat looks like a $25-a-pound filet mignon!" Wine (Merlot) was good, salad was OK the baked potato was awesome the steak was not a filet mignon it was pieces of meat pressed together wrapped in soggy bacon extremely difficult to cut and filets should cut Iike butter. I don't mind paying more for a good steak. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for an authentic steak in beef country. The chocolate mousse dessert was very enjoyable. The food the great! However we got a baked potato with our steak and when we asked our waitress for shredded cheese to go with it, the waitress said "she put it up". I'm sorry, but we are paying customers and I'm sure the cheese that got put up in the fridge could have easily been taken out. I've been the restaurant industry for 13 years and if something was put up because we were closing down, we would go get for them. After we were almost finished, another person eating with us needed more sour cream ( for the rest of his potato ) and also asked if there was any more cheese he would really appreciate it and the same lady said " it's going to take a minute to go and uncover it to get it" and brought it out two minutes later. While initially skeptical, if you are going to serve two things on the menu, do them well. And they did! The salad wedge had a surprisingly nice dressing and the iceberg lettuce was very fresh and crisp. We dined on a Sunday evening with the steak choice being the filet mignon. We each had the 9oz and it was all of that. A large baked potato and very nice piece of bread accompanied the steak. For dessert they have cheesecake. We selected the mixed berry topping. It was excellent! Having had dinner at an "expensive/upscale" steak house outside of Denver the night before, Quincy's was the better choice hands down. Nice work! My wife and I normally love eating at Quincy's whenever we are in Buena Vista, however the experience we had while dining there yesterday, was unsatisfactory. Oh, don't get me wrong, the filet mignon and baked potato was delicious, but having a young couple sitting in a booth fifteen feet away streaming a television game show on their laptop, with their feet stretched out on the seat cushion across the booth, was a little too much. The volume was turned up, so it wasn't like they had Bluetooth headphones, everybody within twenty feet had the displeasure of listening in! We walked into the restaurant shortly after five o'clock and at that time the couple were watching the program. The show ended nearly forty minutes later. After we had paid our bill, I asked the hostess if this type of behavior was customary and she replied that the restaurant provided free Wi-Fi for customers. I also suggested that perhaps the couple could watch their program in the bar area, but she informed me that the bar is reserved for large groups. It was completely empty while we we there. She acted as though it was no big deal. If I were eating at a fast food restaurant, I could maybe be a little more tolerant of such behavior, but not at restaurant where I'm eating a fine meal. We were a group of 11 who called ahead to confirm they could handle our group since it was late, after 8PM. When we arrived the hostess was abrupt, not friendly at all. Since it was relatively late in the evening, there were very few guests in the restaurant. Quincy's always only has two choices on their menu. Our night the menu had either Bacon Wrapped Filet Minyon or Vegetable Lasanga . All 11 ordered filet. Of the 11 steaks ordered, 6 were not cooked as ordered and had to be sent back. Either too well done or too rare. The bacon wrapping was totally raw, barely warm. One in our group ordered a medium steak. His arrived very well done so he sent it back. After about 20 minutes his steak arrived almost raw, cold in the middle. He sent that one back and waited another 20 minutes. Since everyone else had finished eating he finally decided he didn't want the steak. The waitress was very nice and in tears because of the problems. Clearly there was a problem in the kitchen. The lady that appeared to be in charge when we arrived disappeared when the problem occurred, leaving the waitress to deal with the customers. We understand that the Quincy's in Leadville is a wonderful restaurant. Not so with the one in Buena Vista. read more

With robust appetites after a day of exploring the quaint town, we chose to dine here for dinner based upon the favorable reviews read on here. Upon entering the outside doors, my party of four and I commented on the clever idea of incorporating wine bottles within the brick mason walls. Once inside, our eyes had to adjust to the dimly lit space and was greeted by the female host? Staff? wearing regular street attire. She asked if we were familiar with the menu, to which I stated I was not. In a nutshell, we were given two options on this Friday...slow roasted sirloin steak (7oz or 11oz) or prime rib ( various portion sizes). Regardless, the side dishes were all the same...baked potato w/whipped butter and sour cream, bread, and a wedge salad with horseradish ranch dressing made from scratch in house. The salad was very good and quite enjoyed the dressing. There were no extra napkins available to reserve our silverware, so one had to sort of hang onto them when the salad plates were cleared. Fortunately the main meal arrived quickly. The bread was delicious and hot and we learned it was made by a bakery in town. The downside was that it was served with frozen pats of butter, but if you ask, they'll provide you with the whipped butter. The potato was equally great with generous portions of whipped butter and sour cream. The protein item (we all ordered the sirloin) was subpar. All were disappointed over the dryness and lack of flavor. Thank God for the ramekin of au jus, which helped to add some flavor back. Personally, the meat seemed a bit "off" and reminded me of the sort of texture one would experience when meat glue is used. The striations typically found in a sirloin steak were not present. It was sort of like mush. Admittedly, the more I thought about it, the more repulsed I became and ended up spitting out the final bite into my napkin. The server was pleasant and friendly. The carpet was a bit out of date and the only bathroom was a single unisex type. The value is great if on a budget, but overall, I would not recommend this place to a "foodie" and will not return myself. read more
