In terms of my experience, things went really well with AIR. I was replacing twenty year old furnace and A/C units, and had several companies offer quotes. Our AIR representative arrived on time, provided a thorough explanation of everything we needed and presented one of the most affordable quotes for quality products (not being familiar with the different options available, I did verify the selections/quality ratings online). The installation team came at the exact time promised (actually, saw one of the fellows early, waiting in his car for the whole gang to arrive). They worked HARD but delivered the entire system in one, very full, day. They were respectful of my family, my dog, and my property throughout the installation. Everything is working swell too. The new furnace has a smaller footprint and is significantly more efficient. The furnace now vents through the side of the house vs. the chimney because so much heat is retained efficiently that the cooler vented air needs a lower exit point. The installation of that venting is seamless and clean. The new A/C is so much more quiet than my other unit. Both of our systems come with an exceptional warranty. We also went ahead and got the Ecobee thermostat with wireless controls and that is really handy (especially when we go away for a few days and have that, "Did I remember to turn off the A/C " feeling and having the ability to cool the house down a bit prior to getting home has been great too). Importantly, there are substantial rebates available for increased efficiency units and AIR submitted those documents to Consumer's Energy. Further, they reviewed with me some of the tax benefits available for when I file in the spring. AIR Heating and Refrigeration are five stars in my book.

The tech performed work and charged us without asking. All we need was a switch flipped and a filter changed. They charged an extra $75 on top of the $90 diagnostic for work we could have performed for free ourselves. Very unhappy to be charged for work I didn't ask him to complete. Be sure to hawk over any tech working on my home from now on to ensure you are properly charged. - The issue is not that I don't think they performed work, rather that they should have presented the charges before completing the work as they were called for a diagnostic. I'm not sure how you can diagnose without checking pressures and refrigerants. So if all of that was "free extras" what was the extra $75 charge for???

They get out to the house quickly if there is any problem or concern. Over the years we've met every employee, I think, and each and every one is an expert, explains everything, and never steers us wrong. Just recently we had to turn on our air conditioning earlier than usual in the season, and they set an appointment quickly so we could have it all checked first. With the yearly Finzel furnace checks and air conditioning shut down for winter, and the air conditioning check for spring/summer, we never have worries. And they don't over-charge!

Edit: We just had them back out to install a new ductless mini-split system to cool our home and their work was, yet again, top notch! They were prompt in coming in and providing an estimate, helped match us with an electrician to get power to the unit, provided us consultation to help ensure we got a unit that would suit our needs today and tomorrow without overpaying, and then did another beautiful install. For both heating and cooling they are prompt, courteous, and I've never seen cleaner work. They are neither the cheapest nor the most expensive estimates we received, but they are the absolute best value for the money you're going to spend.
