The owner is EXTREMeLY rude, disrespectful, and absolutely NO customer service. A bit of the back story... I purchased a Coltex inverter which was highly recommended by Ramses (owner) for our application. We had it installed and it ended up being defected. We reached out to the business and requested a replacement. Owner Ramses refused to exchange it unless one of "his" technicians looked at the inverter. We agreed. None of his technicians were ever available and kept putting us off after multiple attempt. I went ahead and have another professional technician look at the inverter (paid out of my pocket) and he too guaranteed it was a defective inverter. reached out again to owner and he demanded to speak with our technician. He did, and approved my technicians background. While speaking with my technician he proceeded to speak badly about me saying he "didn't want to deal with me anymore" and so on. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. We finally decided to take it back into the store after a month of back and forth. Owner tested the inverter, saw that it was defective. Then proceeded to call his manufacture contact which told him to simply replace the inverter. He told him it was obviously a defective inverter. Owner Ramses then replaced it with a dusty one off the shelf! NOT AN ACTUAL NEW ONE! He said if I wanted a new one I would have to pay for shipping. INSANE! All this interaction happened with him cussing, yelling, and being completely disrespectful. He is obviously has issues. I have never experienced anything like this before. BEWARE!!! I plan on reporting this place with the Better Business Bureau as well. Unless you are buying many inverters from him then maybe you have a chance to get treated better. Otherwise, your best bet is to go somewhere else.

Avoid At All Cost!!!!…read more I hate to do this because I love to see small businesses succeed but this experience was beyond horrible. I contacted Chad Pordes (aka Pordes Marine, Southern California Boatworks, South Bay Boatworks, possibly others but those are the three business names I've found him to be using) in mid September to service my outboard engine. He was informative and seemed reliable so I brought my engine to him. The next day he told me it was ready for pickup. Seemed fast but I appreciated the quick turnaround so I went to his shop, picked up the engine and paid him $388(over $100 more than he quoted me for the job). That same afternoon I ran the engine but it was worse than before, idled very high, had difficulty shifting into gear and would occasionally shut off. I immediately let him know but he told me that I needed to let the new fluids run through and that once everything burned off it would be back to normal. Fast forward two weeks and still no improvement. I contacted him again and he said that he'd take care of it. This is where things got bad. He said he couldn't duplicate the issues in his shop so he'd meet me at my slip the following day at 9am which was October 8. He was a no show and didn't even have the decency to call and let me know. Its a 45 min drive from my house to the marina so rather inconsiderate. I call him, he offers no apology but says he'll be there the next morning. Once again he was a no show. That happened 4 times before he finally came on October 15th. He looked things over and agreed that it wasn't running right but said that he wasn't able to fix the issue there and would need to take the carburetor back to his shop but would have it done and replaced in a day or two. I dealt with 3 weeks of his lies repeatedly telling me that he'd take care of it tomorrow. Obviously that never happened and then last week he stopped answering my calls or responding to texts all together. Finally November 4th I contacted the Marina Del Rey sheriff to see what my options where. I'm not sure if they contacted him or if it was just coincidence but about an hour later I had a text from him saying that I could pick up the unserviced carburetor from a box on his front porch. So now I have a disassembled carburetor and an unusable outboard for my trip to Catalina this weekend. It's unfortunate because he seemed like a decent guy at the beginning. If I had to guess, my assumption would be drugs. His behavior seemed consistent with an addict. Trying to earn my business he was friendly and responsive but once he got paid it was all lies until he finally cut off communication and tried to steal from me. Do better Chad

I've heard about the place for years; I've been driving past it for 30 years ... but I don't often needs flags and never thought about it. Recently, I finally stopped in. They were so cool. They gave me a full tour. It's much bigger than it seems. In one big room ladies were sewing flags. In another big room, ladies were doing some embroidery on shirts and hats. They also had a couple graphic artists on hand to help design projects. They do it all. Reasonable prices. Great place. I'll be back.

After having my 31 foot Sea Ray for almost a year with another marine company, my friends told me to go see Jesus, at Baja Marine. Wow what a difference! From the second I met Jesus he made me comfortable. He told me exactly what was wrong, and gave me a timeframe he could finish the work. Everything was tested in front of me, with pictures of all the mistakes made by my old mechanic. Jesus, exudes confidence, with his knowledge, skills and great mechanics working under him. He fixed everything he promised, he even told me my hot water heater was installed wrong. His guys fixed that as well. After spending too many thousands of $$$ with my first mechanic, Jesus came in and fixed everything that needed to be fixed. Treating my boat as his own. After wasting a year with the old mechanic, I could now finally take my boat to Channel Island. Jesus did two sea trails, and called us on the way to make sure everything was perfect and that my brother and I were safe. What an experience! Thank you Jesus and Baja Marine for allowing my wife and I live the dream of being a boat owner (with a boat that actually runs). Hints: Do not trust any one that says their a mechanic, make sure they are certified. Be quick to get a second opinion from Baja Marine. Worst boating repair shop experience ever!!! Consulted with…read moreBaja Marine on a raw water pump failure in August 2023 and did not get my boat returned until late July 2024 (11 Months). I was overcharged for services and the boat was returned with a $26000 invoice and it still wasn't repaired properly and alarms were still existing I have 40 years experience with boats and this shop was good when it catered to private boaters like myself and was located in Lomita. They seem to have grown too fast and they currently prioritize their commercial accounts and they could care less about private boaters like myself. I live in San Pedro and was told on a daily basis for 5 months that the boat would be finished tomorrow which wasted my time and most of the summer 2024. Upon finally returning my boat alarms were still present and the boat was not repaired properly so I had to take it to another shop. When evaluating a boat shop to fix your boat I would not recommend Baja Marine. 1. Over Promised (1 Month) and under delivered on expectations for returning my boat (11 Months) 2. Had to get get lawyers and police engaged to release the boat. Hostile owners Jesus Ramirez, Robert Munoz 3. Overcharged for services that were never addressed or repaired. Required to be repaired by another shop 4. Extremely difficult to work with Baja Marine (No response to calls and text) 5. Unprofessional techs and making it impossible to communicate. 6. Boat Shop is a complete mess (see photo of abandoned and unrepaired boats) with boats parked on top of each other making it impossible to walk through to check on your boat.
