I don't know how this place can stay in business. I've never been so heated to write a negative review. If I could I would give zero. I needed my passport photo taken for my Canadian passport and when I walked in I specifically asked if they knew how to do it. She responded yes and told me it might take about 20 min before the photo is done since Canada had specific requirements. She then told me it will be $20 for canada photo which is more than what she usually charge $16 for US passport photo. I paid her in cash and told her okay and I will sit here and wait for the photo to be finished. I sat there for almost 40 min and I waited for them to print out the photo to look at the photo . The photo they had cut was not a rectangle and when I told her it is not straight she didn't do anything to fix the photo. Canada passport photo requires the business who takes the photo to sign and date the photo they taken, the owner was having issues with her ink pen and was about to resort to using a thick sharpie to write on the back of the photo. It is very obvious that the sharpie pen tip is too thick and she won't be able to write all the info that is required to be on there. At that moment I lost it, these people obviously do not know what they are doing and they tried to take my money. The $20 I had given her was on the table. I took my $20 back and walked out. This just shows you how bad of a business owner they are. They are trying to charge people for work that they cannot complete and half assing the work to meet the minimum requirement. Don't go here, the photo paper they use is the regular photo paper from Costco. For $20 I would expect actually photo paper like most passport place provides. This location was owned by another owner before and I have always come to him for photo, it's too bad they closed. The new owners are trash and not respectful. When I told her the Canada passport requires signature and writing on the back she responded "what, that's a lot of info to add". Just absurd how businesses like this can even stay alive in our current world. read more

I came here about 2 years ago and was absolutely pleased with the owner and the finish work. (Is ell, nothing crazy, just passport picture for UK passport). The owner was nice and worked with the dimension I gave him. Well, came back last week, as my daughter needed passport photo. The shop was filled with bridal/ braids maid dresses. With small group of people taking bridal pictures. The whole store filled very different. The gentleman who took the picture for my daughter looks completely different. I swore it was a different guy who helped me before. Can someone tell me if the shop is now run by someone else? This new guy barely speak any English and I was trying to find out if he bought the business. The picture was ok. Yes, the guy here is knowledgable.... Asking about more modern cameras... GO to that "membership" warehouse store everyone goes to, they have the best prices! He says it like it is, No BS! He did interest me in some "consignment" lens. I might be back in the future. He has a wide and varied selection depending on your needs. Parking in the front is limited, you have to get lucky. Plenty of room in front lobby for my bike. Call ahead, one time, I showed up, he had closed up the shop, and taken the family to the temple.... read more

Took an immediate liking to the owner here, he is honest and cool! Right when I handed him my Canon SD1200 IS and told him my issue, he said: "I think it's about time you upgraded." He laughed and told me it wouldn't be worth fixing, but I had it evaluated anyway just to make sure. He sent it out for a free estimate which took about 3 business days. He was right, it would have cost me over $100 to fix. With manufacturers spitting out new models every year, it was not worth it. Come here for advice & recommendations! Like another yelper mentioned, call before you come just in case. Store usually closes at 6:30pm. CAMERA TIPS: A water bottle spilled in my purse and got my camera a little wet. I left it out to dry for a day. What I should've done was stuck it in rice for a few days before trying to turn it on. I burned it out. :( If you're reading this, it may have already happened to you. I've purchased a few items from this shop and my experience with them has always exceeded my expectations. I bought a used Nikon film camera when the one I purchased from another person failed. I needed it for my photography class. The camera served me very well and I'm super happy with it. I've since upgraded to a professional Nikon DSLR and was looking for lens. I came to R S Photo and was lucky enough to come across a high end used zoom lens. I purchased the lens and it's severed me very well. Had an incredible experience at RS Photo. I'm fairly new to the LA area, and have been looking for a local camera shop to geek out on equipment and get my DSLR serviced/lenses cleaned. I recently bought a used Nikon F3 film camera on Ebay, hoping to get more comfortable shooting film. Obviously much different than shooting digital, I spent around 3 hours talking with the owner of RS, asking a number of questions about different varieties in film, the history of 35mm, and the differences between ai-s lenses versus the more modern automatic G lenses that I am more accustomed to. Needless to say, I learned a lot from the owner - very warm atmosphere, he helped me tremendously. Can't wait to return and support RS Photo. read more
