More often than not, even after it is styled, it gets frizzier as the day progresses despite the product I put in it. Domingo recommended I get a smoothing treatment to calm the frizz and I couldn't be happier with the results! In addition to de-frizzing, my hair is now very soft to the touch, it drys in a fraction of the time it used to, it looks healthier, I don't have to use hardly any product, and styling it is easier. I am especially pleased with the way it looks naturally because thats when it can get the most out of control. Since the treatment, I was worried I would lose volume or curl, but it actually just compliments both traits! I have received countless compliments about how healthy and beautiful my hair looks! I was happy with the time I saved on styling it, but this has exceeded my expectations. Dani Maloney at R Salon is, in my opinion, the best hair colorist/stylist/person, to ever lay hands on my hair, ever! Not only did this girl change around her schedule to fit me and my hair emergency in before Christmas, she meticulously went through my hair to color correct to perfection! This woman is a hair slayer. You can tell she is highly educated and up to date with how to correctly create a balayage/ombre look. I will be traveling from out of town just to have her maintain my hair. Do yourself a huge favor and go see her for any of your hair needs! You will truly enjoy her! Found this salon on yelp and went because of the 1/2 off offer and the great reviews. I called-in at 10 am and they gave me an appointment for 3:30 pm that same day (which I was grateful for, since I'm so last minute). Rick cut and colored my hair, and his expertise and years of experience were obvious. Rick also took the time to explain the science behind coloring my hair, now I understand, thanks! Carrie also assisted with washing, blow-drying, etc. They did a great job! I will definitely be going back. I love the hairstylists I've seen here. The vibe is cool. However, when I tried to call the day of my appointment to let them know I could come in earlier, I was told they didn't have me scheduled even though I had made the appointment a week prior. On top of that, they then informed me I owed $50 because I missed an appointment 6 months ago which I was not informed of in the two times I had called since then. Stylists are great but the service is extremely disappointing and I'm sad I won't be going here anymore but I feel canceling my appointment without notice, not even trying to correct their error or apologizing for it, and then telling me about a new fee randomly 6 months later despite having spoken to me in the interim is absurd. Edited: after my initial review, the owner reached out to me to address my concerns. Not all stylists have a cancellation fee it seems. I've added a star to my review since I appreciate the involvement of the administration in customer satisfaction. And to reiterate, the setup is very cool and the actual work of the stylists I've seen has been great. read more

Wow absolutely loved getting my hair done here. I had never heard of this place before until my coworker mentioned it to me that they had a special on Groupon for only $35 which included a hair treatment a haircut and a blowout . SOLD . I called and made an appointment and they had a lot of availability . I was scheduled with Stephanie. The place itself is huge and has so many people working . I love the atmosphere and everyone is super nice. Stephanie did a great job with my hair cut and blow out left me feeling like a whole new person again ! I have been going to R Salon for the past two years and absolutely could not be happier with the service I have received. I stumbled upon R Salon on accident and had Rick (stylist and owner) cut and color my hair after I moved to Phoenix in 2010. He not only did a wonderful job but was extremely friendly and a great conversationalist. Since then, I have been in the salon at least once every two months (often times more) and have had pretty major cuts and dye jobs and loved every single one. One of the most stand out qualities of the salon is the deep level of customer appreciation all of the workers have from the front desk to the assistants to the stylists themselves. Within one or two appointments, Rick's assistants new my name and remembered previous conversations we had (Marta is the absolute best shampooer of all time and tells hilarious stories). Additionally, Rick has touched up my hair for free multiple times after a few days of wearing it around and deciding I want it a little shorter/more layered/etc. He is patient and considerate and never makes me feel like I'm wasting his time or being a pain. Long story short, I love this salon and have no intentions of getting my hair done anywhere else. read more

Nothing but good things to say about my experiences at R Salon! First went there with my stepmom on a Groupon and met with Amy (don't know who my stepmom met with). I needed to have my roots matched with the rest of my hair which I had previously used bleach in to lift some color. I was nervous she wouldn't be able to match the color but did a spot on job without using any bleach! She then gave me s great cut. She is also a very pleasant girl in general. A few weeks later my sister needed a haircut and so I booked at appointment for her to meet with Nathan and he worked his magic on her while Amy trimmed my bangs. My sister is obsessed with her haircut and tells me that she wants to go back to Nathan, which is a huge compliment considering the last three cuts have been from all different stylists! I've been a client at R Salon for awhile now, seeing Amy Horn exclusively (followed her here in fact) and despite the significant distance from my home, SHE is worth the drive! I recently asked Amy to take my naturally medium brunette hair to a less golden blonde (highlights) and a more rich cinnamon lowlights. Amy explained the added stress to my hair with the lighter color and drilled into me the need to be extra gentle with styling as well as product use. But then, she's always done that, the gal is so dang thorough! I could not be more pleased with the lighter highlights and more vibrant lowlights! In fact, at my wedding vow renewal last month, more ladies wanted to know who does my hair than who created my gown! I totally trust my hair in Amy Horn's more than capable hands. I'll preface with this saying I had very high hopes for my experience here. Also, everyone who I talked to here was super nice. I went here a little over a month ago for a hair cut and color. I realized that I am still so upset with my hair that I had to share on Yelp. My appointment was with Rick, who is apparently the owner of this salon. He was recommended to me, so I was very excited. I will say that he is very nice and fast. However, my hair looks horrendous. I have uploaded pictures so you can see for yourself. I asked for a blonde balayage, and he was finished with my whole head in under 30 min. After the color was rinsed out and blow dried, I asked him to darken the top of my head because the blending of the blonde was so unnatural looking (think bright blonde highlights circa 90s/early 2000s). When I got home, I looked at the hair underneath and was mortified. I can't wear my hair half up or even straightened because its so embarrassing. There are spotty chunks of blonde all over my hair. Now I have to go spend another $100+ somewhere else to fix this mess. I will never go back. Very upsetting from the person who is supposed to be the "master" at this salon. read more

I also told them that i might get the groupon but she said i wouldnt have to they would honor the price, which was pretty awesome. My hair cut was a very good one. I loved how she listened and made sure i knew where the length was sitting before continueing to cut. But i didnt recieve a deep conditioning as the groupon stated. There was no heat protection product added to me hair. And my style wasnt the best i had to come home and fix it before work... On my first visit Shawn listened to what I wanted in a hairstyle and looked at the pictures I provided and proceeded with his artistry. He is friendly, funny and easy to talk with, yet when he is expertly and confidently wielding his tools he is all business and focused on the job.
