A friend of mine was craving soul food so we decided to check this place out. We got there an hour before closing. We each ordered different meals and shared with each other. Everything was delicious. The friend chicken, baked beans and Mac and cheese were my favorites. Will definitely visit this spot again. It is a great local small business.

Went today after reading the Google reviews and needed dinner as we took a short vacation to the area. Found this place and upon entering its small and has no uniformity with furniture looks like stuff is just everywhere. Not a place to eat in at all. Got greeted right away and was told to wait as she was working on other orders. Once done she took our orders and mind you she seems to be the ONLY person working doing everything which is crazy but I get it times are rough. We waited about 25 mins for our food. I had the smothered wings, collard greens, Mac and cheese. My husband had meatloaf, yams and collard greens. We took the food to go and parked around the corner to eat. First bite of collard greens didn't like them at all flavor was off and seemed like they were water logged. Mac and cheese no good sorry to say. Tasted old and reheated not fresh! Wings were decent but way too salty due to the gravy. I couldn't eat it because of the salt. I ended up trashing my meal a complete waste of money. Then my husband did not like his food either, the yams seemed to be canned yams. Not even candid yams they had no glaze, no brown sugar just plain yams and sadly he said the meatloaf tasted old and he didn't like the consistency of it. He trashed his meal as well. Oh and the cornbread was not good. Now the place had people coming to pick up orders so I am not sure if it was an off day today for her. Or people in the area don't know good soul food but this place ain't it. I wish her luck and hopefully she can find help and get her entire restaurant in order and sweep all those spider webs under the table by the windows that's a huge turn off. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews but this was a complete fail! I won't be back at all.

The food is great! The service not so much. It's always nice to be welcomed as a new customer but there are others!

So for the soul bowl I had a choice of cornbread, rice , 2 sides & a protein so I chose regular cornbread , yellow rice , mac & cheese & yams with the fried chicken. That's quite a lot of starch but it was worth it! The fried chicken was pretty good, the mac was cheesy though it had a slightly burnt taste ( maybe because it's the end of the night ) and the yams were pretty good. There was no more peach cobbler so I tried the strawberry cake & that was tasty & homemade. I wanted to try the home made lemonades but there was no more. I paid $27 for the soul bowl & cake. I think instead of 3 sides the bowl should come with 2 sides & more protein. Would try this restaurant again!

There's a soul food place on Barack Obama that is good and prices are very reasonable, food portions are as well. They should really look at how they're over charging customers. Also they are not very friendly. The cook talked harsh about orders he had too make. No one greeted the guest as they entered and everyone just had a nasty frown. No smiles at all. Just nit a warm environment.

I ordered the Mac and Cheese, Rice & Peas, and Green Beans, and every bite tasted like true home-cooking. * The Mac and Cheese is creamy, cheesy, and perfectly baked -- comfort food at its finest. * The Rice & Peas are seasoned just right, full of flavor without being heavy. * And the Green Beans? Delicious, tender, and clearly made with love. But the real surprise? Their homemade desserts. The cake is moist and rich, and the sweet potato pie tastes like something straight out of Grandma's kitchen -- warm, sweet, and full of that nostalgic spice. I just think that a person ordering food shouldn't be overwhelmed by the volume of music played in a restaurant. It was ridiculously loud.
