Ran Thai is awesome. Since it has come to the FP we have have made it our go to Thai spot. That said. Yesterday we ordered take out. When I got home before opening the bag my phone rang. It was Tony at Raan Thai. He asked if we had all of the order. I checked and what he asked was missing. He apologized and asked if they could be delivered or if I could come back and pick it up. Service is very good and servers are super friendly. We ordered 3 meals and one appetizer for the three of us. The krab Rangoon was very good. We ordered Pad Thai and 2 Thai stir fry dishes. Every one of our meals included over-cooked dry and rather tasteless chicken or beef. The veggies in each of our meals were excellent and the sauces were good. First time to visit and came to try some dishes that are on both the lunch and dinner menu. My must try was the Red Curry with Chicken with Spice levels 3. Delicious complex and perfect sized lunch portion. Great value Another personal favorite of mine is Singapore Curry Noodles so I also ordered the lunch portion at spice 2. This one is super savory and nicely salty. I got pork in this dish which is good but next time I think I'll go for tofu. Lots of veggies as well and nicely presented. Restaurant is super clean and nicely decorated. Great vibe and open atmosphere. Nice crowd but no problem getting a table at noon. They also have Singha beer which I will have when I come back for dinner. I had had hot green tea, but the Thai iced tea looked even better. Truly the best Thai on the west side hands down! Recently moved to Rocky River and was in search of a good Thai option on the West Side of Cleveland. So then I searched Yelp and Raan Thai was happily close by. I ordered a take out pad Thai and tofu triangles, both of which were great. I asked for 4 out of 5 stars which was perfect, definitely not too spicy if you like spicy food, but still enjoyable in terms of taste versus spice level. Great food, great service. I've been to Raan Thai about a half dozen times now and will keep going back. The food is not only delicious, but you also get quite a large portion. My takeout orders would last me for 3 meals if it wasnt so delicious that I eat most of the first meal. The veggie eggrolls are the best I've ever had. The service is outstanding. Almost everything was spot on EXCEPT they got my order wrong, it was a tofu basil fried ice but it was supposed to be chicken. I was also too far from the restaurant to try to exchange it so I had to keep it. The wings were tasty, the papaya salad was the best, perfect spice/ flavor how I'm used to (I'm from Lao so we love spicy). I've been here 7 times now since I found them. Very nice place, the parking is ample the ambiance inside is fantastic and clean. The menu has a lot of different things and the food is fantastic. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered and would always take some home because the servings are generous. The service is fantastic too, never had to wait very long even when it's crowded. Now to the bad. You will notice I've been here 7 times. Of those seven times they have been closed 4 times and I made a trip for nothing. And these have all been times when they are open according to their schedule. For this reason I do not think I will return. We just got dinner to go last night and it was beyond my expectations! They were able to make a vegan pad Thai with both tofu & vegetables. They also asked how spicy we'd like it which doesn't happen at every place. I got a 2 and my husband got a 3 on a scale of 0-5. We also ordered the corn Pattie's on a whim. Best decision ever!! They were fabulous and I would definitely get them again. I'm not sure if they are vegan or just vegetarian. We were super excited to try out Raan Thai after many good reviews on the community page. We're food lovers and quite picky when it comes to Asian cuisine. Upon looking over the menu, I noticed they have a few dishes that other Thai restaurants in the area don't serve such as: crab fried rice, mock duck dishes (curry and basil), seafood hot pot, sea food claypot, and rad nar. This is a very good sign and very promising as we like new dishes and not the typical pad thai and curry. We ordered the Thai iced tea and coffee since there's no alcoholic beverages on the menu. The coffee was super sweet and have no flavor whatsoever. I wouldn't order it ever again. The Thai iced tea was just ok. For starters, we ordered the chicken satay and papaya salad, and the kids got fried gyoza/dumplings. The kids gave the gyoza a thumb up so that means it was good. The chicken satay were chunky yet super moist and flavorful. The papaya was delish, spicy level 3 really took it up a notch. I just wish there was more as it was really good. To test out a new restaurant, we usually order the typical, well-known dishes such as curry and pad thai. If these dishes are good, you know they got a good cook and everything else will be good. If they mess up the curry and pad thai, you know they need some work. We ordered the seafood curry and shrimp pad see ew. Curry dish is served with white jasmine rice. I supposed you can substitute for brown rice, we just didn't. The curry was good, but there was too much mussels for my liking. Plus, they put way too much red and green bell peppers. I wish they would opt green bell pepper for green beans to balance it out. The pad see ew was just alright. The flavor was there but the noodles were all broken into pieces, which didn't look too appetizing. We ordered the chicken yakisoba for the kids. They must've used the same sweet soy sauce from the pad see ew because it tasted more like Thai than Japanese. The noodle was too soggy. Though we were stuffed, we still ordered the mango stick rice to end the meal. It was alright, but I'd suggest they cut down the sugar a bit as it was quite sweet. Overall, it was a nice experience. The server was courteous and attentive. She checked on us and made sure our water glasses were refilled. We can see the kitchen from our table and I can see the staff was working hard to get the food out to the tables. I'll definitely be back to support them as I like the service and appetizers so far. We'll try other dishes next time and hopefully they don't disappoint. read more
