This used to be one of my favorite Indian restaurants until last night. I ordered two entrees. The saag paneer which I love and the lamb shank to try something new. The lamb should nicely take up the rich spices, which were practically non existent and the saag paneer was barely luke warm. I am so disappointed. Our table had 3 entrees and were only given one bowl of rice. The naan we ordered was yummy. I usually get the mango lassi but opted for coffee instead. I don't put milk in my coffee because I genuinely enjoy the taste but this coffee left a lot to be desired and it wasn't even hot. Best Indian restaurant on the East coast! I've tried several places in NYC and ALL of them in rockland county and most in Bergen County and none compare to Raasa! The people who work here are very sweet and accommodating - we picked up an order and when we got home we thought the order was wrong. This has become our favorite Indian restaurant, even though we live an hour away. We were frequent visitors to Malabar Hill, the Indian restaurant that previously operated from this location. We moved, and hadn't visited the new place, Raasa, until recently. We've been back twice now for dinner. Wow. The renovation is stunning. It's open, airy, classy and spacious. The service is impeccable. Every detail is seen to. (The beer glasses were chilled.) But none of that would matter if the food weren't absolutely terrific, which it is. Highly recommended. read more

Terrible experience!i ordered a 'Dosa ' and it was the worst I have ever had . The Sambar was served with broccoli and zucchini and the tempering was burnt !They got me another bowl as I complained ,but that was this thick lump of dal with no tempering at all.when I spoke to the waiter about this unique preparation he tells me that the chef is from Nepal and has no clue how a Dosa is made !!so never ever order a dosa there as per their staffs recommendation. read more

It's important for diners to know that Raasa is now under new management and does not have the great menu of the old Raasa. New management has changed the menu largely to a North Indian one from a South Indian one of the old Raasa. I would say that the food at the new Raasa is sub-par. I expected a lot more from Peter Beck who apparently was behind Tamarind in Manhattan. For appetizers, we ate Tandoori Paneer (which tasted like it was just reheated from the fridge), and Lasoni Gobi (cauliflower) which tasted more like an Indian Chinese dish, and not a very good one at that. For our main course we ate Chicken Tikka Masala (not fresh nor good, and Bhidi Kadai (this was good) along with Paratha and Roti (both reasonably good). The dessert of Gulab Jamun was decent. I would say that half the items we ordered were not fresh. We expected more from a Michelin starred chef. Worse than the food was the service quality. The servers kept hurrying us by asking repeatedly if we were finished when it was clear we were still working on our dishes. While its a nice big space the decor is a mismatch of styles that does not work together and lacks a common theme. A quibble: The new owners have mistaken the word Raasa for Rasa. Raasa is a colloquial South Indian (Tamil, Malayalam) word meaning king or prince. The word Rasa means essence. The new owners seem to think that Raasa means essence when it does not. If you are expecting a treat from a Michelin starred chef think again. read more

I ordered delivery to my hotel- chicken jalfrezi and it was absolutely delicious - the chicken was plentiful and very tender. I wish I had asked for it to be more spicy but it didn't really matter. Popadom, garlic naan and samosas were the side orders and these were all excellent too. Only criticism is that the jalfrezi only came with plain rice and I had to pay extra for pilau rice but overall I would highly recommend this restaurant - coming from a guy from England this should be taken as high praise as we have some excellent Indian food over there! read more

What a clean setup and peaceful ambiance! Finally, a good Indian restaurant in comparison to the other ones on the area. This is so much nicer now after new management took over. And can't go wrong with the Michelen star Chef. Garlic naan- so fluffy and fresh garlic is actually used and you can smell the aroma. The masala chai is real Indian chai! We got channa masala which was just okay, but the vegetable tikka masala- we were licking the bowls clean. The kulfi falooda mediocre. The owner sent over a complimentary narangi for dessert- it's an orange marmalade pannacotta. Oh my gosh...absolutely delicious and so light. Perfect ending to a very comforting meal. And the owner, Ashok, so sweet and hospitable. He goes to every table and makes the guests comfortable. Don't hesitate to go here. Run from all the other places and come here. read more

Really delicious variations on some old classics. Very pretty dining room too . The service was attentive although there might be more staff than was needed or maybe because it was a little late. But, it felt like we were being watched - sort of. Prices are fine and they have beer on tap for $5. I will go there again. I am desi, so I am picky and know good Indian..my mom is a great chef and I am from Mumbai and have lived in Europe and NyC ..I know good Indian..and this is not it. I looked at the web site on the menu..When I went in to order and noticed that each entree was substantially more than the price on the site I was told it was my error even though it was not.. ordered anyway hoping it was great..not. I have better palak paneer from Trader Joes frozen that I doctor up with fresh spinach..this tasted like all frozen food heated up...the channa was mediocre as well..how can you mess up channa? easiest thing to make tasty but these were canned or frozen chickpeas..the paratha was tasteless and hardly any filling..really disappointing and expensive..curry in a hurry or the quick punjabi delis in the city are better. Don't bother instead go across the street and get some takeout at the Indian grocer and some frozen dishes you can doctor up..trust me you will do a better job than this place..horrible and the girl was condescending as well. read more

I gave this place 5 stars initially but coming back, sadly it's gone bad to worse. Went there last Friday, place was 40% full - sat down and no one to take our order for 15 minutes. The table beside us had kids and food was strewn on the floor and no one bothered to clean it. I was surprised that people walked on it and actually sat down for their dinner. Got our food after 30 minutes and no one bothered to check or pour water. Just had lunch at Raasa Indian Cuisine (formerly Malabar Hill) in Elmsford. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! Service was exceptionally slow; food came out cold (couldn't ask to have it heated because no one appeared), and non-descript; rice was old and reheated (clumps of grains instead of individual grains), and menu was misrepresented by owner; and it goes downhill from there. We arrived and asked the owner if he had a buffet - his answer was "we are prix fixed and we bring all you can eat to the table" and handed us a special menu besides the original menu for this buffet. After finishing the smallish size portion of food, we asked for a repeat order - now the fun came. Waiter said "no" and brought uneatable "rice pudding". Asked to speak with the owner, he sent another waiter to say "no". Finally the hostess showed up and wouldn't listen to our comments about cold food, slow service and/or lack of honoring owner's commitment - owner never showed up! I really enjoyed Raasa. We arrived at 5:10, and were the only guests. Menu was standard fare as well as some interesting additions such as tandoori pumpkin. I went again a few weeks ago the menu was slightly different they added stuff moved stuff around or something. Everything was very very good each dish tastes like it is made per order because everything just tasted right and balanced. What I remember we got was garlic naan very good, chicken curry was good not really spicy but most curries are rich and comforting not spicy it is a misconception. Some goat dish which was very good different parts of goat seemed like the leg joints was delicious. A lamb dish I forget which. Chicken tikka saag was very good. Haven't had a good Indian buffet food in a long time. This is coming from an Indian who has lived in the DC area for a long time.

By far the best Indian food in Westchester. I was disappointed when Malabar hill closed and was eagerly waiting for the renovated one to open. We went in on a Thursday night and finding it completely empty made us a little skeptical. We ordered our drinks and the chilli paneer appetizer - the glass of wine they served us was 1.5 times the usual size. The chili paneer was chinese style and amazing. The paneer was soft and it was very tasty - I found it better than in any indian - chinese restaurants like chinese mirch or nanking. For the main course we got the paneer makhanwala and navratan korma. The paneer makhanwala was very good, again soft paneer and perfect gravy. The navratan korma was good but very mild. I would have liked both the dishes more spicy and will be sure to mention that the next time. Service was great and the portions were generous. We have heard mixed reviews about the buffets and will probably be back to try that next. read more

Really delicious. My new favorite. I always get the same 4 things at Indian restaurants so asked for a recommendation. The waiter suggested the chicken in coconut sauce which was so great I need to go back for more. The dining room was airy, modern and trendy with a fun sense of style. It was also fairly empty for a Friday night. My friend was happy with the chicken tikka masala and we shared a delicious spiced cauliflower appetizer that was like candy. The wines were nice as well. The service was mixed. 3 tables around us came in after my group of 3 and received their food before us, and they over charged me 2x. First time understood and everyone was very nice about it, 2nd time I was spoken to like it was my fault. Never again will I return or recommend this place. I've never felt so disrespected.
