This is the best sausage I've had since I was a teen. I really wished you'd ship. Florida has ZERO compatible in terms of smoked sausage or anything creole/Cajun unless I cook it. We ventured off the highway a bit to check this place out and you should too. Part meat shop and part counter service restaurant. There is plenty of parking and they have a small outdoor area with a picnic table. I brought my dog out of the car and onto the patio while I waited for my food and the staff was really nice about it and brought her out a bowl for water. She definitely enjoyed all of the pets she received! I ordered the fried shrimp with onion rings, boudin ball, fried corn and a skewer with fried sausage, mushrooms and other stuff on it (can't remember it all). The fried shrimp was so lightly breaded that the shrimp flavor really came through instead of being drowned out by the bread. I have never tasted anything close to the sweet fried flavor of that corn (definitely recommend) and the onion rings were simply amazing. The boudin ball was on par with some of the top flavored ones that I have had. I would never think to fry and bread sausage but, it really works. 4.50 stars. Rabideaux is one of the many stops on the I-10 corridor where you can purchase a number of incredible Cajun items either for immediate consumption or to take back to your residence. The prepared item that really blew me away were their meat pies. The crust was a delicate golden brown and the seasoned meat inside had an exceptional payoff. Their boudin balls were also quite good and certainly worth ordering. In fact, if I had known it was going to be this good, I may have tried to force myself to order a few more items for the road. While I only brought one item back from the store to San Antonio, it was a pretty amazing rendition of a jambalaya stuffed chicken. Expect an extensive amount of jambalaya, a tasty skin, and a bit less chicken that you'd generally find in a stuffed item (which is to my personal preference anyhow). I wasn't expecting Rabideaux and Billy's to surpass Chicken on the Bayou and Boudin King, but both places likely did so on this trip. It may seem slightly out of the way, but I'd suggest taking the short 1 mile off the I-10 Interstate and stuffing yourself with glorious Cajun food from this wonderful road stop. I'm sure I will the next time I find myself making the drive to New Orleans. read more

The sausage is the best, I've eaten it all my life a gumbo is not complete without the Rabideauxs The recipe or cuts of meat has slightly changed over the years or the sausage would be $12.00 a pound but it's still number one. We never miss the opportunity to stock up I got my 45 lbs of pork / beef mixed sausage as well as some of the best cracklings you'll ever find they are usually hot and always spicy. I went to school here with the original owners kids I am sure they never thought they had a gold mine and as the place has sold over the years each owner has taken it to a new level as far as volume goes if you have any doubt get a sausage po-boy then decide how much you want hope you brought your cooler. :-) read more

To me that deep fried hog fat is just like a fix of dope so I only get 1/4 pound at a time. We cruised through this little spot on a cross country road trip based on the Yelp reviews. We picked up some chicken fingers, fried fish, fried corn, and a couple beers. The fried corn was SUPER disappointing. It was greasy and tasted like frozen ears of corn. The chicken was alright. A little greasy, but overall nothing to write home about. The fried fish was 5 stars. Absolutely amazing....crunchy cornmeal crust and not greasy at all. The service was terrible. I understand they were busy, but nothing was labled, and the cashier didn't want to tell us what anything was. As we were choosing what we wanted on our plate, the cashier decided she'd rather help some regulars that she knew, so she let them stroll right in & order even though we'd been waiting in line for 10 min already. The service is indescribably bad. Management needs to work on queuing, service processes, and customer interaction. The employees were beyond rude to my family and other customers we observed. We received about half of the food we paid for and the staff was not helpful when we tried to collect the rest of our purchased food. Good food, but the setup could be much more clear. We arrived on a Monday for lunch during the holidays and the line was long. There's not really any clear signage on where to start or what is what. They serve meats out of the deli you can order. Then there's another line for plate lunches. Then another line for what is a convenience store? The food was good but we waited awhile as they skipped over our number and called others. We waited about 15 minutes before asking them and they had it sitting and waiting at the counter. I have been a fan of this sausage recipe since the 80's...It has not changed much since Ol boy Daigle has taken it to new heights! You can buy the sausage in bulk at the local Lake Charles Sam's club ( but go to the shop for other goodies)...the stuffed meats are of the highest quality and yummy! Boudin balls are the best! The genius manger is now producing his interpretation of a Cajun slim Jim ( sold at the counter in store) that is a must try! They are super freakin awesome!!! A great tip is to heat them in the microwave for a few seconds. Delicious and smokey just like the sausage but portable. I grew up in this area and have been going here for years but last few times have been disappointing. So I'm Back home visiting my father and we decided to give Rabideauxs another try. Last year I spent $50 on food that was hard and old. Tasted like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for hours. So we get here and walk inside and not a single employee is wearing a mask, they all have one but no one is wearing one on their actual faces. They are around their necks or hanging from their ears. I look at my husband and we are like ok well let's just do this quick. Get to the counter and the woman taking the order is kinda sharp and rude. The food in the hot box looks kinda old But fine whatever. My husband comes back from getting fountain drinks and has this look on his face. I ask what's up and apparently the woman cleaning the fountain drink machine got all huffy cause he was waiting to use the fountain machine. At this point I'm like screw it. We paid for our drinks and left. We went down the road and got our $50 in sausage from a new place called in-laws. Everyone was nice and professional and the sausage was delicious. Oh and they were wearing their masks like decent human beings. I see it like this. If you don't care about your customers health or just being pleasant then you don't need my money.
