    Grilled Kingfish Platter with Tostados
    Neena J.

Appears to be a very casual joint where probably the locals go but its actually one of those hidden gems of a place! The people are very friendly but do not all know much English. One of the customers was kind enough to help us out. PASTILLOS: which were out of this world! They are large fried turnovers stuffed with meat (can be minced beef- the best ever!!, shrimp, conch, chicken or spinach) TOSTADOS: flattened non sweet plantains GRILLED KINGFISH PLATTER: this had 2 huge cross sections of kingfish with garlic sauce and sauteed peppers. Enormous portion for its price COCONUT MOJITO: way too sweet for a mojito. We tried CONCH turnovers for the first time, which were surprisingly fresh. The next day we packed the beef Pastillos to go as they were a great day time snack at the beach, Highly recommend if you are staying or visiting Fajardo!

The seafood at Racar Sea Restaurant definitely lived up to the expectations set in its name. I ordered two arepas, one with pulpo (octopus) and the other with bacalao (cod). Both were extremely fresh, nicely seasoned, and not at all salty. The arepas themselves were perfectly fried, crispy and light. The side dishes were just as great and so inexpensive ($1 for a coconut arepa, $1.50 for 4 maduros) that I ordered multiple rounds. Racar stood out with all of its fried dishes; none of them were overly greasy or oily like at many other places, and I didn't feel sluggish or bloated after eating here.

Red snapper with plantains and kingfish with rice and beans

Stopped here waiting on a kayak tour. It was one of the only places open in the area around 5pm on a Wednesday. Both the kingfish and red snapper in butter sauce were amazing. The portions were generous and the rice a beans were one of the best we tried during our stay in PR.

Walked here while waiting for the bio Bay your, and ordered a mojito, which costed $7 and was in a water cup size. I'm pretty sure the girl ripped us off because we are tourists because the other mixed drinks on the menu had prices ranging from $3.50 for a small to $6.75 for a big size. The mojito tasted like fruit syrup. Do not come here.

We went here on a limb after spending the morning at the beach. SO GOOD!! We shared an order of mofongo along with an order of rice&beans and they were DELICIOUS! I will never forget how tasty the beans were, just mind blowing-ly good. I would return in a heart beat if I lived close!

Stayed at El Conquistador and wanted my family to get away from the resort for some real Puerto Rican food. It was delicious! I had an empanada and the shrimp mofongo. My son had rice and beans and the other had the skirt steak. Reasonable, friendly and authentic.

From the hotel, I walked the employee only driveway for about three blocks and came to the marina. Racer is the most reasonable and local feel restaurant in the walking area. The menu has both Spanish and English, and the eaters are all friendly willing to help you deciding on the order. Price: whole red snapper plus two sides, shrimp stuffed dumpling plus rice and beans altogether 22.85. Wonderful price! Fish: so fresh with just a hint of sea salt, best I've ever had I heard the locals say the cook anything you catch, the make everything you ask for. They have lobsters and crabs ...

Well worth the trip out of the Wardolf. The food was delicious and the portions were VERY generous. Don't let the plastic tables stop you from eating here. The view is great, the food is delicious, and the service was friendly. Just be patient, the food is made to order so have a second cocktail and enjoy.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at El Conquistidor (which is very close by, walking distance actually). If you want some out of this world service and fantastic seating, A/C, all of that stuff. Pass this place up. If you are looking for a place that feels like this may be where the locals come to catch up and watch the waves, that pop a squat...you could stay here all day. The people are very friendly and the food is quite good. I had the mofongo stuffed with seafood and it was absolutely yummy. The octopus was soft and NOT chewy. I am pretty sure this was a first for me. They make their own hotsauces that are fantastic and the best part is they sell them by the bottle so you can take some back to the states with you (or wherever you may hail from). The restaurant is located in a parking lot/park among quite a few other restaurants. These business sprouted up because this is where a lot of the non motorized water tours start in Fajardo. Pop in. They have excellent empanadas and ice ice ice cold beer.

The garlic sauce is very good, and da mofongo actually has flavor, unlike da other local places we have tried in PR.

We had a variety of smoked meats, the mahi mahi over coconut rice, and the smoked pastrami. Their sides were also really good, and so were the mixed drinks. The outside seating was made comfortable with numerous fans and cover for rain/sun. The service was also great. You will definitely want to make a reservation ahead of time.

There is an uncovered patio with seating and straw-covered umbrellas. We did not have a reservation, but were able to get seated within 10 minutes of arrival. A reservation is a must. There is an area adjacent to the restaurant that sells the food items by the pound. This is one of the more expensive places to eat on this side of the island. The smell of the smoked meat and seasonings is intoxicating, drawing you in. I had a glass of lemonade, Caribbean Chicken Wings Ceviche, and a smoked tuna dip. My main course was the grilled lobster and fries. I sampled the cole slaw, red beans, and rice. The lemonade was very watery, as if it had been poured before and was ready for guests when they ordered it, since it was served quickly. Would take a pass on this. The Caribbean Chicken Wings were delightful. It has a sweet, smoky, slightly crunchy texture, with just a pinch of spice, heat, and flavor. I enjoyed this and did not want to share with family. The smoked tuna dip was delightful, not overly creamy, and retained the tuna's texture and flavor; I wanted to order another and would have appreciated a few more wings than what was served. The Ceviche was a little underwhelming but done well. I am on the picket fence on whether pineapple helps or hurts the dish, so I would pass on this when going back. The grilled lobster was beautifully presented. The spices and grilled marks were prominent and beautiful. The spices and flowers were just amazing, and they retained the lobster flavor despite the bold seasonings. The red beans and rice were well-cooked, but had very little flavor. This was disappointing given how ubiquitous this dish is on the island and the restaurant's ability. My son had the El Matahambre: "Kill your hunger" BBQ sandwich. Pulled pork, smoked bacon, BBQ sauce, and cheddar on a local bread called Mayorca. I sampled the pork. Tender, well done, seasoned, and perfect. This is a must-stop place. Remember to set a reservation, and that this is not a cheap place to eat. I want to go back soon, and I am wondering if they would ever consider chicken beyond the appetizer.

We came here for the lobster and ribeye to share between us and boy it did not disappoint! We were lucky that we got the last lobster from the tank. Loved every bite full! Delicious and yummy. Our waiter (I wish I remembered his name!) was so nice and even took the time to recommend other places for us to visit, which we really appreciated. The food was very fresh. I had the stuffed lobster, and it was delicious--definitely a lot of food for one person, though. Since we're just visiting, I'd recommend sharing if you're not looking for a super big meal. My husband had the mahi with shrimp, and he loved it. We had the calamari for appetizer, it was amazing! Overall, we really enjoyed everything and would absolutely recommend this place.

We do travel with a wheelchair. The server was very good and well knowledgeable on the menu. He was even photographed in the menu. We ordered a couple cocktails as well as many appetizers. We didn't order any entrees, as our family likes to try many things. My wife's favorite is ceviche and she was impressed by this dish. (Order it) We also ordered fish bites. Solid choice as the guava sauce was memorable. La arepas de coconut. Solid. The fish empanadas were great. Definitely order those. But calamari was chewy and overcooked. I'd pass on this. Cocktails were amazing. Spicy margarita is spicy!! I had a mojito which was delicious. You won't go wrong with any cocktail. Server was great. He did mention to me that we should order soon as the kitchen will get busy. We waited as we were enjoying our dinner. (We didn't have any problems) I'd go back. I'd also suggest sticking to your plan. It's your evening and don't let service control the experience. At the end of it...you control the tip = thank you.

There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors; we opted to sit outside since the AC inside was a bit too cold. Definitely worth checking out for a relaxed meal and solid cocktails.
