In the past two months, I've visited South Fork and visited Rachel's twice. It is a hidden gem and a must if you're here even a short while. Perfect place to stop after a dusty hike for a fantastic taco and tasty drink. Everything about it is eclectic and that's what makes it memorable and special. They were so annoyed with my family and were not welcoming what so ever. This place is neat looking but the service was pretty rude. It seemed like we went when they were "changing over" from the front to the back so maybe that's why we didn't have a great experience. I ordered my kids well done burgers and sent them back because they were not correct. I asked for them to-go because the wait was so long (definitely got looks from the food truck) and when we got home the burgers were extremely over salted. My kids couldn't even eat them. Probably the wackiest place I've ever stopped to eat but the food was good. It's a food truck next to an ordering shack next to a nice covered patio full of fun signs. It's a breakfast place by morning, lunch and dinner service by day with a bar. The whiny gringo sliders were great, as was the Southwest flatbread--which was enough to share. Friendly folks. Took awhile for the food prep, but it's all made to order. Room to park a RV on the gravel frontage road. Good place for kids. Veggie options available. read more

We have a small summer place in South Fork and have been enjoying Rachel's for quite some time, location is perfect, all menu items are great, drinks are great and service is always top notch. Pancake Piggy fingers are perfect for breakfast, the Reuben or sliders for lunch or early dinner, beef smash tacos are fantastic, you really can not go wrong. Keep in mind, it is a small establishment, so wait times can sometimes be awhile, but the atmosphere makes it fly by. Live music on occasion, play some mini golf while waiting, or have a frosty beverage. read more

A unique hidden gem at Rachel's. I have seen this driving by for years and never took the time to stop and check it out. I came throuugh late one evening from out of town and saw they were open for dinner. I had always thought it was a breakfast type place until I looked up their menu. My friend and I stopped for a bite and got the Sancho and 14er burgers, which were technically sliders. We didn't expect that part, but they were perfectly portioned out, and the buns tasted fresh. Each also came with a side. I had the mac and my friend had the potato salad. I will say the mac was very good and the potato salad was not bad either. I would definitely come back to try other items from the menu. It had started to rain, so I was a bit worried about getting wet or muddy. The band was setting up to play music still and most of the seating areas were kept dry with the shades or coverings. It looked like pets were allowed as well. The wait time was directly an hour, with a lot of small town locals having small talk within the lines!! My first impression? This place sure is popular. Other thoughts as a out of towner: That is some serious wait times for a basic cup of Joe, right? Apparently, not for the quality of their breakfast menu and the awakening simmers of their morning chai, hot chocolates, lattes and mocha. I treated myself to a mocha espresso (M) and the mocha was phenomenal! I even kept the cup as a memory from South Fork's most fun-filled experiences. Most of their Lunch menu items are promoted to be ethical with Ranch Raised, or Farm Fed cows! There are also Gluten-Free options as well as a kid's menu. The women working at the counter were incredibly accommodating and super friendly. They had a sense of humor and I do remember their jokes while I was playing the waiting game. We needed espresso and a restroom on our road trip to Pagosa Springs. This place popped up. The signs said they were open and served lattes. Hurray! We tried to order at the window and were directed to the bar. Bartender directed us to the first window. Barista then tells us "I don't think the machine is clean." When I asked if they had a restroom all I got was a "yup." We missed the turn for Tiny Timbers so we stopped here. We should have turned around instead of stopping here. read more

Adjacent geodesic dome is sweet - complete with colorful picnic benches, inlay mosaics, plenty of plants, and a hose/fountain for audible aesthetics.
