What a total delight of a surprise. We were driving from Durango to Conifer, did a quick "best lunch near me" search, and stumbled into this absolute gem. Honestly didn't expect much... and then boom -- one of the best roadside meals we've had in a long time. I'm not even a burger person, but the Burgatory burger completely won me over. Just the right kick of spice without overpowering the flavor -- juicy, balanced, and seriously satisfying. My husband ordered the same thing but went all in with the double, and let's just say there were zero regrets. The waffle fries? Perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- exactly what you hope for and rarely get. And the beer selection -- such a pleasant surprise. Ice cold, thoughtfully curated, and bonus points for having great options for those of us who lean toward reds and browns (anything but an IPA, thank you very much). We ended up lingering longer than planned, playing Taco vs. Burrito (highly recommend for a few laughs), and then... the grand finale: banana coconut cheesecake. Our first time back since the pandemic and change of ownership. Great place to stop for good food and service. The menu is diverse with burgers, sandwiches and tacos. We each had catfish (tacos and po'boys) with side salads. The entrees have a choice of interesting sides--cheesy tater tots or cheesy sprouts, veggies your way, asparagus. Portions are generous. It's a good place for families. Not a lot of options for the vegetarian if you don't eat fish but they do have rice and beans. Food is classic cafe. read more

Best burger and "eagle eggs" I've ever eaten!! 1/2 pound beef patty cooked to perfection on a crisp brioche bun with all of the fixings! So good we went back the next morning for breakfast! Delicious Southwest twist on eggs Benedict and wonderful biscuits and gravy! If you're ever passing through South Fork, this is a must stop place for a delicious, original meal! New owners have completely revamped the menu and service. Burgers are large and I've had 4 different types all excellent. The tacos are very good except the catfish one. (May be a personal preference). Good bar selection and kids menu. The only knocks would be pricing $20 for mac and cheese is a bit much even for SF. We will continue to go back to Candies and recommend it to others read more

We stopped here on our road trip from Fort Morgan to Cortez and it was a perfect place to stop. It's by far better than a lot of other places on that stretch. If I lived close I would come here a lot! It was a perfect place for the kids to run around and play fooz ball. read more

Best restaurant in South Fork! We love the BLT and the Catfish! Also the giant breakfast burritos-add avocado, a side of pico, and some cholula sauce! Went there yesterday for dinner. I got the three taco variety and they we all excellent, wife got the catfish platter. Everything was awesome, plates were empty. Black beans with tacos were best bean side dish I have ever had. We also odered two cocktails and they were made very well. No room for dessert but am told they are good also. Prices were very reasonable for quality and quantity of food served. Service was excellent and you can tell they care about what they do. read more

WOW!!! This place is awesome! It's a little hard to find as the building does not have signage on the front, but look for the red building and you are there. Their menu is vast so it was hard to choose what to order with so many delicious items. We ended up ordering the BBQ pork salad that had the most amazing fried peppers and onion. We also ordered BBQ pork sandwich with slaw and Brussels au gratin side dish. Would loved to have tried the eagles eggs! Our server Renae was exceptionally kind, welcoming and professional. The building is cute it's an old fire station. Highly recommend choosing this local spot over fast food on your trip. read more

We stopped in on a Sunday at noon and was pleasantly surprised by the clean, welcoming atmosphere and you are greeted by Candie herself. The menu is extensive and we had a hard time deciding, as everything looked great, and ordered the street tacos and we were very pleased. It was all fresh and delicious. We had an excellent dinner at Candie's Firehouse. We'd never been that impressed with the place under prior ownership, and this was the first time we'd been there since Candie took it over. I had a crispy breaded pork sandwich that was delicious and my wife said her buffalo chicken was really good. Excellent beer selection, including good beers from 3 Barrels in Del Norte. Friendly wait staff and we also met Candie, who was equally friendly. Highly recommended. read more

What A Gem! Breakfast came out fast and the eggs were perfect. Went back for dinner after a long day of snowmobiling and got the best burger I have had, like, EVER. Cooked perfectly med well, I'm kinda picky, and the onion jam on candies signature brought all the flavors together. The waitress suggested her favorite cinnamon roll bites and oh my were they ever amazing. Took those to go as I was super stuffed. They made for a great late night snack in the hotel.
