The service here is amazing. We were on our way up to the mountains with our bikes when we realized our Yakima rack was missing a bolt & the bikes were moving around a bit too much. The rack is about 20 years old but they were able to find a bolt that fit. They also hooked us up with new rubber straps. He even threw in some cam straps they had laying around for some extra security. read more

Rack Attack was recommended to me by Colorado Ski and Golf in Arvada, Colorado. I looked online and was worried at first that the racks I needed for an upcoming ski trip that weekend were out of my budget. I gave them a call and they let me know that it would actually be much cheaper because my Subaru Outback already had a roof rack and cross bars. A concern I had was that I could only visit Rack Attack during my lunch break, but they assured me I could be in-and-out in less than an hour, based on my requirements. A little bit skeptical, I headed on down and was greeted by Ben. He answered all of my questions and helped me choose the best rack for my budget. In fact, they had an open-box special that he offered up - which saved me a chunk of change. After the installation, I noticed that the slide out Thule racks needed some lubrication and commented that I would apply some WD-40 when I arrived home. Ben quickly noted that silicon lubricant would be more appropriate, as the WD-40 would attract dirt and could ultimately cause the rack to be even more sticky. Going out of his way to be awesome, Ben grabbed some silicon from the back area, and applied it to my rack - at no charge. Ben went above and beyond to make sure the rack was installed and working to my satisfaction - I got a great deal - and I was out of there in 45 minutes. A very disappointing experience from beginning to end. They have a system in place which means that you have to wait over a month to even set an appointment. This system is at least somewhat understandable because of Covid supply issues. The greater issue is their customer service tech lied when I scheduled the appointment about the time it would take. The response of the counter people was basically tough luck we can't do anything to make up for our mistake. If you want a new date to accommodate the 3 hour install that we told you would be an hour to 90 minutes you have to go to the back of the line and wait 2-3 weeks for an appointment. They were reasonable about refunding my money when I decided this was not a company I wanted to do business with read more

Rack Attack is good if you are clueless about simple or not willing to do the relatively easy installs of bike racks and are willing to pay for the high labor rates plus full MSRP on bike racks, roof systems, ski racks etc. However, you can easily get 15%-20% off Yakima/Thule racks/systems and free shipping PLUS no tax and save even more by installing the stuff yourself, and learning something in the process. If you're spending $230 per rack like me (I need 4) plus the landing pads, towers, locks and aero bars, I'd be into this for $2,000+ and another $2000 for the truck bed cover. I can save over $400 plus the install cost so over $600 ordering online and doing it myself. I can save around $500 buying form other local stores, so I may just do that. Rack Attack is not a competitive store, at least not for guys like me who are willing to do some research. I have bought items from them at the Denver store (Thule T2 and some snowboard racks all at full MSRP plus tax) but not anymore. read more

I'll keep this short and sweet. Went to buy a bike rack (2 bike) I showed the kid my SUV with a hitch attached (1 1/4") He sold me a 2 inch receiver went home and Yikes it didn't fit. I called and spoke to Ben, it was determined in fact, the kid sold me the wrong size! (you think) I brought it back and never received an apology for the inconvenience (they could have easily thrown in a lock for my time). I also was given a replacement which was used, Thule sticker peeling off. Needless to say I was frustrated with the service and the fact I wasted a weekend of my valuable time without being able to use my bike rack OR bike. read more

Received three quotes from the same rack attack location for a hitch each 200$ more than other places and varied by as much as 300$. Also requested they walk outside to check a component that I paid extra to have installed by them. Despite three employees and no other costumers ,it was I assume too much effort for they balked on providing that assiatance. Why brick and mortar stores will not survive. Too bad . Why be subjected to overpriced services with employees who obviously are not interested in supporting the owner ,business, or costumers.Will resume ordering online and watching a YouTube for installation and use all from the comfort of my couch. read more

Overpriced and the staff are not very helpful. I needed help with a lock repair on a Yakima box and they definitely had better things to do. I can understand that to a point, but then they weren't even willing to refer me to a decent locksmith. It was just a poor customer service experience. I see no reason to return. read more

My wife brought our vehicle to rack attack to install a trail hitch so we could help move our daughter to Florida for college. Well they installed the hitch fine but did not install the wiring harness. Who would install a hitch with out the harness? Not very useful is it? When I called them, they said that they frequently install the hitch without the harness because the vehicle already has a harness. Well our vehicle doesn't have a harness so why would anyone install a hitch without a harness? I would not recommend this place. read more

Worst experience with this shop, however they were able to make it right and get me back on the road.

I was initially hesitant to go here as I usually try to do things myself for as cheap as possible, but I was getting overwhelmed with all of my options for carrying mountain bikes on my new truck. I had bought a rack option online that I ended up having to pay $20 in shipping to return it when it didn't work. I went in and Ben was great about explaining all of my options and printed out what it would cost. It was great to see all of the options in one place and have somebody who knew the products well and could explain the pros and cons. I decided to pull the trigger on a truck bed rack install and bought some bike racks to mount on it. I ended up not liking the bike racks as they were not as secure as I thought they would be. I called up Zach and he first helped me trouble shoot, then returned them and helped me pick out an option that fit my needs better. He was super helpful, and even removed the old racks and mounted my new ones for me for no additional cost, despite the fact that the second options was much cheaper and these guys work on commission. Oh and they also price matched any cheaper price I found online, and even looked up the price on the brands website to make sure there wasn't a cheaper price without me asking. I wouldn't hesitate to give them my business again and encourage others to do the same. read more

The part was available for $6.00 on the Yakima web site, but they wanted $12.00 for shipping. Fortunately, the part was available at Rack Attack for the same price, without any shipping charge. This was a difficult job and they approached it with intelligence and patience. They can up with a rack solution that is creative and overall came out awesome. I have purchased twice from the west Colfax location, one about four years ago and now in September 2016, and both times I was disappointed with the service, mainly the dick-like attitude of the dudes working there. I only went back there because of the convenience, because I live in Golden, and I figured they had what I was looking for; and they did. But when you go in looking for a specific item, and ask a couple of questions, they act like you are bothering them and it's an imposition. If you're a woman, I get the feeling they treat you like you're inherently dumb, and they can be condescending. They should take some customer service lessons from Chipolte's (even given the recent bad publicity they have received...). Look out for the dude with the cupie-doll red hair- (partial Mohawk, perhaps)(?): he is especially sour, surly and condescending; and I honestly don't think he realizes what a dick he is. They gave me a price on how long it would take. Then when it was done sooner than an hour and and a half they said it was per peice for installation. So they got an extra $50.00 out of me for the install. But I wouldn't be back for Thule Roof Rack carrier. I guess it's get as much money as you can & don't worry about return customers. read more

I wish I would have known about Rack Attack (and Chris H.) sooner!! I ordered an ARB awning from the Internet; they forgot to send mounting hardware. I called a few local rack businesses and was told that it was ridiculous to want to put an awning on a non-off-roading vehicle. In a panic (as I planned to leave for a 3 week camping road trip in a few days), I talked to Chris and he said to bring the car and awning so he could look at it. He invented a way to attach the awning to my car, as well as, found AND made parts to do it with. The awning has been an essential part of our trip (about 4,000 miles so far). I am so grateful for Chris and Rack Attack. Everyone there is so nice and Chris really went above and beyond. I will absolutely be going there and referring my friends for any future needs. read more
