Good vibes, nice space, bad location. There is nothing inherently wrong with radar brewing. They have good beer and cider, a nice bar with plenty of seating, a ton of TVs to watch sports, and an outdoor area. The problem is that every time I go there, it's always empty and this is probably that it's so far away from everything and so hard to get to- especially if you want to be on foot and walk from place to place. They had a food truck out that had options for everyone and the food truck option rotates! I am a big fan of the beers at Radar. Going back to their opening at the beginning of 2020, their brews have been fresh and high-quality. The atmosphere is lovely, and the service is always friendly and helpful. They have outdoor picnic tables that are great for bringing in some takeout from a local restaurant or food truck. They have added a full bar and traditional cocktail menu. One of our favorites is the dream tangerine wheat, and it's significantly better than the local competitor's tangerine wheat. I have enjoyed live music there in the past, though it seems that's happening less and less. Pro tip: they offer a pretty small selection compared to the nearby breweries. One of my favorite brewery's is Winston Salem and it's a very lowkey place. Plenty of space, indoors and outdoors, lots of games to play and they have live performances ever so often. Love the beer selections, they even have some THC beverages which I thought were very tasty. Can't go wrong with any brewery that offers flights too. Unlimited liveliness at the Friday night line dance session ! Make it fun for yourself or take it as an exercise class - either way, we burned enough calories for a pint'o beer ! Radar has some fascinating ways to get people to the brewery: live bands, food trucks, country line dance lessons and yoga classes too. But nonetheless, I really enjoyed their dark oatmeal stout called Radio Silence, has a very smooth mouth feel with almost a cocoa & coffee aftertaste. Not acidic or heavy on the breath like a coffee porter. The tqp bar was impressively clean and well organized and women take note- the restrooms at Radar have been fully stocked with toilet tissue, something that is rare at a brewery haha. There are large picnic tables inside and outside plus some guests had their pups with them. Parking is a little hard in that area of the dead end street, especially if the Robert Hall is having an event. read more

Not a beer drinker or a brewery go-er...but I did like this place! Great outdoor and indoor casual atmosphere, plus they sell other stuff than just beer! Impressed to see cocktails and wine on tap. On a busy spring sunny day it was most definitely busy, great meet up with friends here , I had the Prosecco, which on tap I'm usually weary of as it's usually flat, this surprisingly wasn't. Plus they have flutes! Our crew enjoyed the beers, wine and cocktails. Great space with parking too. Nice friendly service and have to say great prices too. Another solid watering hole for me and my friends. I've been here for many yoga+wine Wednesdays and really enjoy that they now offer some traditional cocktails (margaritas, bees knees, etc). Lots of seating available both indoor and outdoor, great location by the water tower -beautiful sunset views during the summer- and they regularly have a good rotation of food trucks. Service is pretty good overall, there was one time I came at 7pm on a Sunday and the bartender seemed pretty over it by then- said something along the lines of them closing at 8 (still an hour) and not going to open a new bottle. Glad to see their Domino Rice Lager on the menu, it's an excellent beer. Worthy of mention is their Italian Pilsner (In Stereo) and the Reflection IPA. It's actually quite refreshing to see a good spread of options between their Pilsner, Lagers, Stout and IPAs. The service is great as always, and they have expanded a bit inside with plenty of tables! Love how it's fresh inside with board games, managed to get in a game of Battleship! Great local spot for delicious beers. Love to see the triads beer scene growing! Radar is set in a massive warehouse style building in downtown Winston Salem. If you're looking to spend the day drinking craft beer, check out this side of town! There's a few breweries in close proximity and there is always a great beer selection no matter what your preference is. I recently got the NE IPA and my partner got the DIPA. Both were super refreshing and delicious which is hard to find in an IPA (especially coming from Asheville). Big Apes was onsite slanging shrimp burgers and fried fish and it was Don't sleep on this great spot! It's great for big parties to as there is a ton of space. read more

This brewery took me by surprise, I love the whole environment of this brewery, from the overall inside design and decor, to the music that was played, and the live healthy plants. It was instantly relaxing. My husband and tried a few of their selections but my absolute favorite was the outpost Belgian Dubbel! I've been here twice and both visits were absolutely fabulous. I attended a Sunday drag brunch and more recently I attended a Monday night drag bingo. I guarantee we were having the most fun on a Sunday morning and on a Monday night. Mimosas were served on Sunday for brunch. I tried the Solstice Saison beer on Monday. It was delicious. Very underwhelming beer. I didn't get the weird 70's music, not even songs I personally knew, it was as if they were playing weird b-sides the whole time, but that is a personal thing. Fantastic! I had a little outing with a few friends at Radar for the first time. The space is really nice: large with high ceilings, and plenty of spaces to hang out. UPDATED!! Radar brewing just opened. Hidden away on a partially closed off back alley. The parking lot is uneven broken pavement and very muddy. No real parking places so people are just parking where ever. Then you have to walk through that mess to get to the door. The building, a former warehouse, is large inside with plenty of room. Its clean, and new, yet Very plain vanilla. Sure the plywood bar top is kinda cool.. and so are the table tops. What little decor there is really just dont work. Large marshmallow lights at the bar would look great in an Asian bistro.. no so much here. Nothing on the walls. Plain white drywall. I'm sure after they get rolling it will get better but for now its very meh. The service was good. Nice enough. The beer. The beer was good. Nothing wrong with it. A decent line up with something for everybody, and even a few guest taps. For their first batch I would say its a good start. Somebody, somewhere, hidden in a back corner, knows something about beer. I dont want to knock the place too hard, but there is some stiff competition for beer and bars in this area. The stout was a decent offering. I was glad to see one on the menu. The Belgian strong ale will knock your socks off. The others.. solid with room for improvement. No funky or off tastes so the beer gets a pass. Now get your parking lot fixed, and get some art on those walls. True to my words, when a place improves I will be the first to say. The place is much improved over my initial visit. The beer is stellar, the vibe is open, clean and bright. It's a great place to hang out and enjoy a beer. The service was friendly and quick. We hung out with a card game and had a great afternoon. We saw another group playing a board game. It's just an awesome place to spend an afternoon. No they don't allow dogs (which is the complaint of every negative review). But every other brewery in the area does! Some people are allergic, some are afraid of dogs, some people just are into dog hair and barking, some people are cat people! Whatever the reason, it's nice that there is an option for those folks. I don't have a dog and really don't care, but seriously, don't bash on a perfectly great brewery because it's one of the few places that you can't bring your pet. Dog owners have plenty of options! I think I like it even more people you are sitting on top of another group, which in a normal world isn't ideal but especially with the covid.
