A year ago this month I was the unlucky person that received the worst haircut of my life from Danielle G. I read so many good reviews and I was convinced to try the curly hair specialist. Danielle is so sweet and professional, she made me feel very comfortable with her. I thought this is it, I will never leave her! I sat down and we looked at my hair for a 5 minutes. I have long, thin curly hair and I was looking for more volume near the top. She took a pair of scissors and cut about 5 inches off just above my ears, almost like a bowl cut. She styled it there so after all the products it looked ok when I walked out. The next day at home it looked like a mushroom with long legs. I called her and expressed to her that it looked like a mullet. She was so pleasant and said please come in and we will fix it. She agreed with me on the mullet part. She had to cut the long pieces but the damage was done, I ended up with a shorter haircut and it still looked a little off. I spent most of 2013 depressed because my long curly hair was my thing. Yes I sound dramatic but it really changed my look. Having a round face with chubby cheeks it made my face look bigger. One year later I went back to my old stylist and apologized for leaving in the first place. I'm not saying to stay away from Danielle because according to her reviews she does good work. Just to moved to Green Valley Ranch from So Cal last May, started getting color and cuts from Alexa based on great reviews the shop has. I've now lost 9 inches in length due to poor product, lack of skill and it has taken almost 2 months for my new stylist to get my hair back to "normal." What can I say- how I love Hair Artisans! I booked Hair Artisans- particularly Alexa- to style my hair and my bridesmaid's hair for my wedding. All I can say- Alexa made my every dream come true! I am over the moon happy to have found Danielle! I've done some damage to my hair with hair extensions and styling. I have been doing a ton of research to get my hair back on track. I like my past stylist, but really didn't feel like she understood my hair and would help me with my hair goals. I made an appt. online which was super easy and I love! I brought all of my hair products with me since I was going in for a consultation. Danielle really took the time to review everything with me. I have natural type 4a/4b hair. I got a silk press from Danielle and another young lady assisted her. My experience was very good. The salon is cute and quaint. They are nice and professional. Seem to be well educated and experienced with natural hair. Making an appointment online was easy and they were ready for me when I arrived. I cringed a bit when the stylist was washing and conditioning my hair with all of her rings still on but my hair turned out great. Silky, shiny, super sleek and straight, feather light and looked super healthy blowing in the wind. With an add on and a tip it is actually pretty pricy for a style I only wore for a few days but that won't stop me from going back. read more

Alexa Coury has been doing my hair now for the past year and she is great! Not only is she personable and bubbly but she is great at what she does. I have never had an issue with my cut or color from Alexa. Went in last evening to darken my ombre and it turned out perfect. Ombre's are not easy to do but she is great at them and knows which colors are suitable to your taste. Danielle has been a great mentor for Alexa and she has become so confident in her work and she keeps getting better. I highly recommend her for anyone! read more

My review is in the cutting technique more so than the salon. I want to warn of fairy knots aka single strand knots that resulted from these dry curly cuts. I found this salon about 3 years ago and went to Danielle. She did a great job and I didn't notice any issues before my next cut. I then switched to Brianna. She had better availability. Brianna used the same curly girl technique with cutting on dry hair. However I quickly learned that my haircuts seemed to grow out quickly and my hair never looked the same twice because our curls don't clump the same way everyday. I started getting fairy knots about 6 months after my first cut. I figured it was my hair being longer and finer. 1 year ago exactly I stopped going to Brianna and had a normal haircut. Now I no longer get fairy knots and my hair has grown 5 inches in the past year. I think when they only cut curls that are out of place some get missed and ur split ends can get out of control and they keep cutting the same curls to keep them in place and your hair doesn't grow. My hair was stuck at my shoulders for 2 years plus the fairy knots were crazy. I also once ended up with the mushroom as someone else mentioned when she kept cutting the top layers too short for the bottom ones to give me volume. Good luck curly ladies. I know that no two heads are the same and react the same but I just can't believe how much better my curls are with normal haircuts. read more

Nothing but great things to say about this place ! I saw Danielle once while I was pregnant and new in town looking for a good stylist and she was friendly knowledgeable and made my hair feel great ! Fast forward of few months I had gotten individual braids for the first time by someone else because you know with a new baby and all my hair kind of got put on the back burner. I took them out and had BALD SPOTS & NO EDGES ! Not to mention the enormous dreads ! I called Danielle the next morning after crying myself to sleep and she said come right over ! Did she magically regrow all my hair ? No , but she did something even better she did what she could for my hair ATM recommended products to help me grow my hair back and made me feel ALOT better about the situation. I love all the positive energy in the salon there is so much love and appreciation for the curls they really get what natural hair means to you and how important it is. I left feeling much more informed and while I'm still definitely sad about what happened I feel a huge relief that things will get better. FINALLY! A hair stylist that cares and knows what she is doing! I have been in search for a good stylist in Vegas who will take the time to listen to my hair complaints and fulfill my request for full highlights rather than talking me out of it so they can make an appointment with friends or finish their day. I was attending a wedding in Vegas and needed it cut. After a lot of research (and finding no one in my area, Northern CA) I came across Danielle and all of the wonderful yelp reviews. OMG! Danielle has magic scissors, attached to magic hands, attached to magic brain! She knows what she's doing, and takes the time to ask what you want out of your hair service, answer questions, explain what she's about to do, and suggest ways to improve your daily hair routine. You get all her attention, unlike what happens in some other salons. Before my cut (hair is shoulder length post cut, she took off about 3 inches, which is what I expected.) , the volume of my hair was...simply enormous. As in, you could barely see my face huge, with about 6 inches horizontal volume behind my head. I have a LOT of hair. After Danielle shaped and cut and thinned it, WOW! Such an amazing contrast. Suddenly there was a face-- mine-- that could be seen! Balance! Movement! Softness! Curls instead of brittle zigzags! This was my daughter's first appointment for a professional hair cut, and it was very important to me that she have a positive experience. It was even better than I had hoped! Ok, where should I start? I'll TRY to make this review short. From 2004-2008 I lived in Las Vegas and went through a slew of horror stories of hair dressers. Everything from getting bled on my scalp by the stylist, nasty, aggressive attitudes and even severe hair loss (my first sew in that resulted in cutting my hair out to get it out). I eventually would wait for vacation times to go back home East to get my hair done because it got so bad. When I returned in July 2013 the anxiety of finding a hair dresser again was so bad. I contacted my family back East to see if they knew anyone that knew someone that would be a decent stylist here. It was either that or drive to California for a hair dresser. Enter Briahna, thanks to my sister contacting my aunt who's college bestie goes to Briahna I finally have a goddess doing my hair! Yes, GODDESS. I started with a consultation with her just because I didn't know what I should do with my hair anymore; I needed help with getting it on the path to healthy growth. I booked an appointment immediately afterwards, she was so understanding, explained everything, gave really great advice and tips. PLUS she has the sweetest deposition, honestly. She also told me the best place to pick up my hair (I got a sow-in for protective hair purposes) and the expected cost. Can I just say that I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt? All 32 teeth were showing, the style and service were spot on and I felt BEAUTIFUL! I am NOT my hair but there is nothing like getting what you want, getting what you paid for and finally finding a good hair dresser. I've since returned and actually about to set up my next appointment. She is amazing at what she does. As for the other ladies in the salon they all have a really good vibe, they work well together which is not a guarantee. Danielle, the owner, is amazing in her own right. She is a great source of information and energy, she's created this work environment that makes you excited for your appointment and want to stick around to hang out. The review wasn't short but I hope I helped giving you an idea of who you should try.... there are a lot of hair salons that shouldn't be open... this is NOT one of them. read more
