Nope nope nope! Not only is the hotel itself falling apart, to be nice about it, but look at what is literally right outside our hotel room! There are takers everywhere and this is no place to have to bring your family for a hockey tournament! What a bummer as this place used to be beautiful. Duluth I am so sad for you. The hotel itself has hard beds, the shower doesn't drain so you are in standing water the whole time your showering, the carpets are stained and the air conditioning unit looks like it's 100 years old.

    Marks on the wall.

I can see why Choice Hotels chose to acquire Radisson, because this property is about the quality of a Quality Inn. Dry air, hard bed, thin walls, and an unapologetic manager who made no concessions. $247 for a very sleepless night, a quick Google search reveals that this is the lowest rated hotel in Duluth. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else.

    Bentleyville view and Canal Park

Talk about service!! There is not a single unfriendly employee at this hotel, they do everything they can to go past above and beyond service. The Legends Suite had a phenomenal view of Bentleyville and Canal Park. The restaurant had terrific food and the revolving floor added a cool ambiance. Our waitress, Candace, made a dinner experience that was like no other. This is my absolute favorite place to staycation. Would undoubtedly recommend to anyone looking for a first-class, five star experience for less.

Super close toilet to wall. Unsure if up to code.

Found this hotel on hotels.com as I had a $100 credit for staying 10 nights. We were in town for a concert at DECC. The room was already paid in advance but we had to do a $100 credit card deposit for incidentals. This hotel is dated as its from the 1970's. The hotel is also round. Attached are 2 photos. Unsure if the toilet so close to the door is up to code. Literally 1" door to stool. The microwave placement was really low to the floor too. The doors were really heavy and made a slamming sound when you closed them. The room was clean, had a comfortable bed, quiet. Nice view of Lake Superior in the distance. We took the skyway to DECC. Some lady took a chance at availability and paid $250 a night. The cool thing of this hotel is Minnesota's only revolving dining room with views of Lake Superior. Parking was free. Front desk staff was nice. Room includes a fridge, microwave and Keurig.

    Poor design.

Not one for negative reviews normally, I'm very much not impressed with this Radisson. The room was not clean upon arrival. We didn't arrive early; we got in at around 7:00pm. There was long hair in the tub, shower walls, and bathroom floor. There were crumbs on the floor. There was even a pair of dirty socks left from a previous guest we have a bellhop take away. It was dark when I got into bed as I'm traveling with a little one and he was already in bed, but when I awoke the next morning, I found my bed had someone's long hair all through it. (Wasn't mine as I have a pixie cut.) Also, the pillows were all extremely used and flat. The mattresses were also very concave and worn out. I went to the pool to find the pool lining bubbling up which made it look neglected. After swimming I took a shower in my room and found the temperature would switch back and forth from hot to cold. I ended up just taking a cold shower so as not to burn myself. In addition to that, the shower nozzle was old and very hard to move and would get stuck in position. I had to have my husband adjust it. The sink had mold around the drain. One swipe with a tissue removed it easily. (See photo) The toilet lid hinges are filthy with urine and dust. (See photo) The shower curtain is moldy and pink. (See 2 photos) There's no excuse for that kind of neglect. The walls are very thin. It's not that I could just hear the water in the pipes for the shower next door, it's that I could hear that guest splashing water against the wall. (And whoever you are next door: your 3 minute shower was pretty impressive!) A suggestion would be to have more than one tiny rusted trash can per room. I realize that this is due to the cylindrical architecture of the building, but the bathrooms are extremely tiny. The door barely clears the toilet by about a half inch making it impossible to open or close the door while the toilet is in use. (See photo) That's more of a problem when traveling with young kids. Side note concerning the bathrooms: though the room is, they aren't updated. The kind of neglect we found here is both unhealthy and unacceptable. I didn't bother to look up reviews before purchasing a room here because Radisson has a great reputation; however that reputation does not extend to this facility. We will not be staying here again.

Pet friendly hotel!! Cooper likes the room!!
    Gabby G.

This pet friendly hotel is located in the heart of downtown Duluth! A very walkable location for seeing canal park and the lake walk! Our puppy being a puppy of course was getting into things he shouldn't and within 5 minutes of being in our room found three trash items not picked up by the cleaning crew. We are so used to getting things out of his mouth, it was fine -- thank god it wasn't something toxic for him though in a pet friendly hotel.. The room was fine, we were told it was a more spacious area of the hotel which seemed odd because it felt anything but. This wasn't a big deal to us because we were just there to sleep and didn't need some over the top suite. We were in the square part of the hotel - no view of the lake - and would take our puppy out to relieve himself at the upper part of the parking ramp. There were cigarette buts everywhere and even chicken wings the second night, which of course my dog wanted to eat and that was frustrating to walk by. I'm not sure I would stay there again but it wouldn't warm anyone else to stay away because it wasn't a terrible experience. We just have friends in the area with an extra room for next time. We slept fine, the staff when we did interact with them were friendly and if was a conveniently located room at a reasonable price. If you're going to Duluth with your pet, it's an okay place to stay!

Beautifully set along the boardwalk and canal park commercial area, this location is perfect for Duluth visitors! The hotel and room was very clean but just was from a past era. I wouldn't say the bed was super comfy but it was adequate and the room was pretty quiet. Bathroom was spacious and uniquely designed. Elevator was super slow but stairs are easily accessible. Breakfast was the average marginal Hampton breakfast but served in a very nice windowed room with views of the water. I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and received a complimentary room upgrade- room with view of the water. This was an appreciated perk but otherwise the front desk did not acknowledge my status even when checking in.

Our stay was Sunday night Nov 23 for the Bentlyville Tour of Lights event. Initially we had…read morereserved a Queen Lakeview, but took advantage of a website offered upgrade to a King 1 Bedroom Suite (although that's not how it was labeled) with a Whirlpool (jetted tub) for an extra $40. The room labels for the upgrades to bid on did not match the labels of the rooms on the Hilton Canal Park webpage, but Michelle was very helpful in email correspondence in decoding the rooms being offered and the process of bidding on upgrades and the obligations involved. The King Suites are normally $100 more than the Queen Lakeviews for a Sunday. Oddly a Queen Partial View was also offered for bids at $80 more than our Queen Lakeview, although it would have been a downgrade. Construction was going on, which we were warned about on our stay last year. There was the expected smell of paint, commotion, and compromises on amenities because of this. You are paying a premium for the Canal Park location with this property, the event was a fifteen minute walk. Beautiful Lake Superior was about a hundred yards away across a service road, and we pretty much had the shoreline there to ourselves early Monday morning. The third floor room was clean, quiet, and adequately stocked which was expected for the price. They accommodated us with a rollaway bed for my girlfriend's daughter, though not right away. According to Business Travel News this property was built back in 1997 and last renovated 2013. It's definitely showing its age. There were several issues that likely won't be fixed with the current renovation, like dated slow elevators, which according to other reviewers has abruptly dropped with their groups inside. They have electronic checkin with the app, which is a big reason I stay with this chain, but the app didn't control the TV or the heating/cooling control, which their promo material advertises it to. I was told this was not going change with the renovation. The shower door wouldn't close all the way, so you had to be careful about water on the floor. Also when my girlfriend tried the jetted tub the hose leaked and sprayed water everywhere. The tiny laundry room had no washers (hopefully temporary with the renovation). The tiny workout room had just three of pieces of decades old equipment, a stairmaster, bike, and treadmill. It just fit me and her daughter, we had a couple people peek in and then leave while we were in there. The pool was nice. The breakfast, not in the normal dining area because of the construction, was typical generic fare to feed a lot of people cheaply despite TV promos showing a bagel shop bagel and sliced fresh fruit. I've yet to see either of these at any Hilton property. There wasn't much for snacks, you were mainly at the mercy of machines that ripped you off. I was overcharged several dollars for a bottle of Pepsi, which the evening desk person said he couldn't do anything about, but was refunded in cash the next morning by the day desk. When it happened the evening desk person mentioned the machine had outright stolen money from others without even giving drinks. When asked about the free water for 'Silver' membership, the only tangible benefit that level gets you, the evening desk girl pointed to a basket with some tiny bottles of warm Glacier Mint to apparently serve myself. This water perk is clearly just a token thing, but other Hiltons make more of an effort. The Hampton Duluth North gave us a couple of chilled large Aquafina's in a Hilton paper bag. We've stuck with the Hilton umbrella this last couple years after some bad experiences with Wyndham's, although the Hilton options for Duluth are fairly limited. A ten minute Uber ride away is the Hampton & Suites Duluth North/Mall Area, built in 2017, for two thirds the price of this one on any given night. We stayed there for the Haunted Ship event a month earlier, and 20 years newer does make a difference not to mention a more motivated staff. There are also countless other downtown Duluth hotels from competing chains and independents, like the new boutique property Force On Fifth, that likely would offer a comparable or better experience for less money. If you have to have a downtown Duluth Hilton and are willing to spend $200-$400 a night on a room depending on the day of the week, this property will just do.

The hotel included small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, as there were no installed pumps on the walls. There were also some board games available for guests. Our first night there, on a Thursday, was incredibly quiet. No road noise, no noises within the hotel. Even the AC was quiet. Our experience Friday and Saturday wasn't as pleasant because we had very loud people on one side who were talking and laughing past 11pm and also had dogs that yapped at random intervals. One of the reasons I booked this hotel because it is dog friendly, when I booked the reservation, I called the hotel and requested a ground floor room near an exit and was assured it would not be a problem and they would be happy to accommodate my request. Upon check in, I found I was on the 3rd floor. I told the lady I had requested and been confirmed that I would have a ground floor room near an exit, she told me the 2nd and 3rd floor are the pet friendly rooms and she could move me to a 2nd floor room if that was better. I said, I would like them to honor my request, I was then told they couldn't do that and if I had a request like that I should have called the actual property and not Marriot. I did call the property and offered to show her the number in my phone. I was then told, whoever I talked to gave me incorrect information and shouldn't have said I would be able to have that room. At this point the other desk person stopped helping her customer and decided to stick her nose in and said "be sure to have her sign the pet waiver and additional cleaning fee agreement", what? First, if you know anything about service recovery Orr customer service you know that one person talks and helps the customer, her butting in was not helpful. Second, you guaranteed me something you didn't have and then acted like it's my fault but be sure and try to get me to sign a waiver and charge me extra for cleaning the room. Nope. This was a horrible experience with snarky people, I don't recommend and never stay there again.
