He was able to thoroughly advise us on how to rectify the soffit/attic issue. He was able to remediate a few areas of mold we had on drywall due to not dehumidifying our home and a lack of insulation in two small areas of our attic - too much soffit in two areas of our home. He cleanly cut out the bad drywall and did not cut through the vapor sheeting, underneath. I was pleased that he only cut through what was necessary with surgical skill. Only the drywall was affected in 4 of the small areas. Two areas - around a skylight and one ceiling area did affect a few boards in the attic. They cleaned the boards with a green, botanical product and then encapsulated the affected boards. No fans were used anywhere so mold was contained to affected areas and once drywall was removed, it was immediately bagged and removed from the home. Skylight ceiling was HEPA vacuumed and a HEPA air filtration machine was used in all of the areas while the work was meticulously completed. The bathroom ceiling was cleaned and then painted with a mold resistant coating. Josh thoroughly explained how long the bathroom needed to dry and that no humidity could be created in the bathroom until it was completely dried. He explained that it needed to dry naturally, without a dehumidifier, otherwise the paint might crack. Josh thoroughly explained everything he would do and everything he was using (cleaners, machines, etc.) prior to starting the work. He was an excellent, educated and experienced remediator/communicator. Carol, in the office, was able to calm me down and reassure me when I first called to schedule the job. Another company could not handle my upsettedness about our mold problem and hung up on me. She was able to email me receipts after charges were completed. Her follow-up throughout the process was great despite my changing the work order a few times throughout the process. Her calm, positive, uplifting demeanor was just what I needed during this time. I do not hesitate to recommend Indoor Air Repair to anyone with mold issues, except for the fact that it might be harder for me to get scheduled with them if all of you use them, too!

Tim the designed called me back the next day and scheduled an appointment to come and assess the housse. Our radon level had been testing between 6 and 8. Tom did a thorough assessment inside and out and created a proposal including a sketch of the installation, including the EXACT cost, which was just under $2000 - very reasonable. I was impressed that they use a large diameter downspout (matching our existing downspout color) extending to the roof line instead of PVC pipe. They also install a housing over the outside fan unit which looks great. They also seal the sump pump with a new lid and seal all the cracks around the perimiter of the basement. The technician Jorge came out two weeks later and performed the entire install. He was amazing! He explained everything, and left it all very clean. Very professional and courteous. I retested the radon level a couple of days later and it tested at .27!!!!!I HIGHLY recommend Dupage Radon Contractors. You will not be disappointed.

I called DuPage Radon and the very nice woman who answered the phone made it sound like they might cover it, but when she talked to her boss, he said no. Their quote to replace the unit was $400 (they were originally paid approximately $1,200 five years ago) and the soonest they could do it was New Year's Eve. I was able to find the exact same model radon fan at Home Depot for $150 and it literally took me no more than 15 minutes to remove the old unit (and I've never done this before). I'll install the new one when it arrives in the next few days. I don't know about you, but $500 an hour for labor seems excessive to me. Obviously I'm in the wrong profession. Meanwhile, I'm going to remove the DuPage Radon sticker from the cover just out of spite.

Highly recommend American Insulation. After moving into our new home, our inspection report flagged…read morethat the attic insulation was marginal and recommended upgrading it to improve heating and cooling efficiency, as well as repairing areas where insulation had been disturbed. Rick came out on December 9 to provide an estimate and was thorough, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. He and his associate scheduled us at their next availability--January 7 for removal of the old insulation and January 8 for installing new blown fiberglass insulation. Everything went smoothly, the work was clean and efficient, and they clearly take pride in doing things the right way. One unexpected (and very appreciated) bonus was Rick adding missing drywall in our HVAC room, which was a great extra touch. We'll definitely be having Rick back later this summer to handle crawl space insulation for an addition to our home. Great experience from start to finish.

We had our 120 year old attic insulated - blown in fiberglass - and he's worth twice what we paid if I compare the fantastic job he did with the other bids we got. Hired him because his bid was no BS, not only because of the good pricing - Just felt like he was trustworthy. Glad I trusted my gut. Protected the house from debris, cleaned up after the work, and they probably paid attention to many other details we can't see. You won't regret hiring these guys!! Give them a call.
