I live on the corner of 3rd and Broadway, and one day I happened to notice a small repair shop across the street called Sky Fix. Not just phones either; computers, software issues, hardware issues, all of it. It made me realize how many hours of frustration I waste trying to Google solutions, watch YouTube tutorials, or use AI to generate step-by-step fixes that somehow never actually work. In my case, my charging ports constantly get clogged with dust and dirt, and instead of simply fixing the problem I end up spending hours stressed out, fighting with cords and restarting devices. At some point you start asking yourself: how much is your time worth? One of the things I love about Sky Fix is how accessible it is. I live right across the street, but even if I didn't, there are multiple parking structures surrounding it and none of them cost more than about ten dollars max. You can park and be at the front door within seconds. It's also directly off the Broadway & 2nd Metro stop, which honestly makes it one of the most accessible tech repair stores in the city. But the real reason I'm writing this review is Eric, the owner and manager. I work in tech myself, so I know what real intelligence in that world looks like, and Eric is one of the most adept minds I've been around in a long time. But what impresses me even more is something most people probably never notice. I see how he treats the homeless people who walk in with broken phones. I see how patient he is with people who are confused, stressed, or just trying to get a dead device working so they can contact somebody safe. I've watched him help people without charging them. I've watched him treat everyone in the neighborhood with dignity regardless of what they look like or whether they can pay. That kind of humanity is rare. Everybody around here knows Eric, and after getting to know the place a little better, I'm honestly proud to support a business like this in our neighborhood. Downtown can feel chaotic sometimes, but places like Sky Fix remind me why I still love living here. I mean I will tell you this downtown gets ridiculous finding a really cool spot with people you can trust is a bigger deal than you might think I don't have a lot of of those people in my life actually so thank you Eric for being one.

The manager looked at it and tried his best to give me hope, but looking at the circuits, he came to the same conclusion I got everywhere: it's shot. He showed me the individual circuits and explained what was eroded and why it was impossible (or outrageously expensive) to recover. I had read this everywhere I researched, so I wasn't surprised. I asked if they sell computers, described what I used it for and he had exactly what I needed - one of the computers was in excellent working condition, but had a scratch on it, the other was like new and both were very reasonably priced. He did not push me to buy either of them and told me to take my time to think if I wanted one. I decided to buy the better computer and the manager added a brand-new high-quality charger and all the different cords I could need at no extra cost. He also explained that it's guaranteed for 30 days and that I can come back if ever there are problems. I was seriously thinking of buying on Back Market or from the Apple Store, but am very happy to have bought it from here because I handled and tried the computer and take all the time I needed to decide. !
