I've been taking both my…read moreelderly parents to doctor's appointments recently and it was shocking and a real eye opener to see how they get sloughed off from one department to another. I realize that they are older and many ailments are a natural part of the aging process, however, they're still people and they're still suffering. It's just downright cruel not to listen to them (really listen, not just feign interest) and pass them onto someone else. Well, Dr. Goland didn't do that. He listened, asked my Dad to repeat answers just to make sure he understood correctly, and did some testing right there and then. Dr. Goland outlined a complete course of action and I'm hopeful that my Dad will get better in time.

If you make an appointment with him make sure you clear your day because its going to take extra time (in a good way). Expect to wait for him, he will probably run late because he is very thorough with EVERY patient. He will go step by step, organ by organ, and ask you what your symptoms are. This is not a 5 to 15 minute visit doctor that doesn't listen. You won't have to talk too much because he asks you very direct questions. On your part, you better know your symptoms so you can clearly communicate that to the doctor. He will analyze your symptoms and come up with a treatment plan. I felt like all my issues were addressed and dealt with. He reminds me of a small town doctor that takes time, he is definately not a clock watcher. The lady Maria that works with him is amazing as well. She will tell you in the beginning that there might be extra waiting for him so bring a book, jot down your symptoms, watch YouTube and be ready. It took me a month and a half to make an appointment to see this doctor and it was worth it. He's not the type of doctor that's going to baby you and coddle you, he gets right down to business. Be ready to answer questions definitively. Lastly, he is an educator. He empowers you with information so you're not thinking you have cancer or some crazy stuff you looked up on the internet. It feels good to have information and answers. This is right up my alley.

Dr. Lee has been my mother's provider for some time, but I hadn't needed to contact his office…read moreuntil recently, when she experienced a sudden change in condition, including high blood pressure, vertigo, and vomiting. Although Dr. Lee was not in the clinic that day, his nurse, Kimberly, handled my call with genuine care and professionalism. She was patient, compassionate, and made sure my concerns were promptly communicated. Dr. Lee returned my call very quickly after receiving the message. He even spoke directly with my mother to gather more information and carefully assess her condition before recommending appropriate next steps. He advised that she go to the ER; however, my mother was reluctant. When we asked about alternatives, he thoughtfully prescribed medication to help with her dizziness. Despite it being after 5 p.m., Dr. Lee personally called in a prescription to her pharmacy and followed up with me to confirm it had been done. I am incredibly grateful for both his and Kimberly's patience, kindness, and expertise. It's clear that Dr. Lee truly puts his patients first. I highly recommend him as a provider. Thank you, Dr. Lee and Kimberly for the great care of my mother Vivian C.

Anyway,I was 22 minutes late for the new patient appointment and the receptionist told me I need to reschedule despite I told her I had spent more than an hour in traffic to get here from Dana Point. I was referred to this place by a friend who's mom used to be a patient here and that was like 6 yrs ago. Doctor had incredible memories and still remembered some details. As to the background of the doctor Lee Ching, his father practiced traditional Chinese medicine. He was influenced by it and won't ask you to take medication unless necessary. In contrary, he also told me he does not think the Chinese Medicine treatment I had been through can cure my heart problem...etc. The doctor spent lot of time for my first visit and ordered few lab tests that seem complete including all problems. I never feel rushed and I normally get anxious when I am at doctor's. Now I understand why I was late for the 1st visit and they had to ask me to reschedule. all I have to say...it totally worth the drive....

You must call in to pay via credit/debit card and then there is no way to get a receipt unless you go back into the office to get it or pay $20 for them to send you one in the mail (isn't postage only about 80 cents nowadays?). The people who run the billing department work from home, so they can't even print receipts to send a picture of a receipt via email. Therefore, very difficult to get a receipt to get reimbursement via HSA or HRA. This is a very simple thing to get payment set up online.

I have quite a few conditions and she is good at managing them by ordering blood work at appropriate intervals. The blood work can be done there as they have labs on site. The nurses are quite good at that, can even get blood from me which is difficult for many! (They taught me the term for someone hard to get blood from is "hard stick" ) The office is always quite busy, but they dont massively double book like some doctors, so the wait times are not too bad, like max 20 min after scheduled time. They are quick to respond to pharmacy requests about refills which I appreciate. The front desk staff is couteous and seems to know what they are doing. I found Dr. Verma through his website, www.throatdisorder.com and made the drive to Orange County from Los Angeles. I was nervous at first, but boy was it worth it!! From the beginning, Dr. Verma was different than the other physicians. He carefully listened to my problems. He diagnosed me with vocal cord paralysis (one of my vocal cords doesn't work) and performed a procedure on my throat with me awake!! It didn't hurt a bit and after a vocal cord injection my voice was back to normal. I ended up needing surgery six months later to permanently improve my voice and after performing thryoplasty (placing an implant in my voice box to strengthen my voice) my voice is great. I would highly recommend Dr. Verma to anyone with a voice or swallowing problem. He was available for questions whenever I needed him. He is funny, kind, and best of all - a great surgeon!

I hope you got money to burn because this office is doing bigtime insurance billing upcoding. They…read morebilled $1,566.00 for my 15-minute consult. I went in for a consult about an elective procedure - not the procedure itself, just a meeting to discuss potential side effects. The entire visit took about 10 minutes, but I'll be generous and say it was 15 minutes. Dr. Verma did a laryngoscopy that took less than 2 minutes and then explained the process for the procedure. I learned nothing new about the procedure that I hadn't already read on Reddit. But fine, this initial consult is required for the procedure. Figured it wouldn't be that expensive to just ask a doctor if Reddit was right (BTW he confirmed Reddit was, in fact, a good resource to learn about this procedure). When I got the bill for this "consult" I figured there had to be a mistake. They had billed the office visit as a code 99205 at $974.00. That was **in addition** to the laryngoscopy code 030575 at $592.00. That's a cool $1,566.00 all-in. Dude's billing $6,264 per hour? That's Beyonce money. If you look up the description for a code 99205 "provider visit", you'll find it's typically 60 minutes with a comprehensive history, comprehensive exam with high complexity decision-making and an extensive amount and/or complexity of data to be reviewed. This exam was none of those things. That's called insurance upcoding, my friends. This was a code 99202 (99203 if I'm being generous). My insurance adjusted his $1,566.00 to $1,035.79 and then billed me $530.21. I spent about 2 months trying to get Dr. Verma's office to bring the billing code down. Always difficult to reach, always referring me to the billing department at UCI Health (who couldn't do anything for me), but I finally got the office to lower the provider visit code. These MF'ers lowered the 99205 at $974.00 to a 99204 at $739.00 and said that was the lowest Dr. Verma was willing to go, like he was doing me some big favor now. And then, of course, somehow my insurance increased what I was responsible for. I finally had to say F it and just pay the bill. So all said and done my 15-minute exam to rehash what I read on Reddit cost me $556.10 and my insurance paid him another $497.38. Complete f'ing scam. I ultimately decided against doing the procedure before I got this first bill, but man I'm glad I didn't go through with it because if this is what he's charging for a short office visit, I'd probably have to file for bankruptcy after doing the procedure. I would have been better off setting fire to $556.10 cash than doing this little office exam. Then I at least would have gotten some warmth from the flames.
