bluf - Black Gryphon has a lot of great ideas on the menu and a large, interesting tap list to boot. That said, execution fell pretty short and the dishes felt pretty underwhelming as a whole. Black Gryphon offers an elevated bar/pub environment with cool concepts for appetizers and entrees. I thought the kobe dog and ants climbing a tree apps were tasty, but unfortunately felt pretty underwhelmed by the wings, duck confit open-faced burgers, and the pork belly tacos. The flavors kind of landed 2-dimensional. Our server was very nice and accommodating, but it was also weird because there was only one server that I saw for the entire restaurant, so I don't know if the experience would've been different if they were busy that day (there were maybe 2 tables total that we were there). All in all, it's an okay spot. Lots of cool ideas that have a lot of potential, but didn't quite hit the mark for me.

This is the special gryphon-phoenix burger with spicy chocolate sauce, plantains, honey, and is crazy good!

This place deserves more notoriety! It has great food, craft beer, and super people. We had a larger group and they quickly set up an area to serve and accommodate our team. We had many of their special creations and we enjoyed every one! Their gryphon-phoenix burger was really unusual. It had plantains, honey, and spicy sauce that has chocolate in it. Sounds crazy but each of us loved that sauce! If you are in E-town, this place is well worth visiting. Try it, you'll like it!

Came here for a 50th wedding anniversary party, they had the food set up as a buffet there was Alfredo ziti, sloppy joe, mild bbq and Wilbur chocolate wings, salad and tomato soup. Everything was delicious but the choc wings made my brain misfire I did t know what to think about them lol.

I'm a picky eater so I was definitely a bit cautious with some of the menu items, but this small plate of meatballs and whipped potatoes was out of this world. I was half tempted to order one to go. Also had their version of an orange crush cocktail. That was a let down and for $14 barely filled the wine glass it was served in, but their tap list is impressive. Overall the restaurant is a cozy space, seating was comfortable, and service was quick and friendly!

Whipped ricotta 10/10 Yummy ricotta, the basil pistou and olive oil added a really good additional flavor. The fritta toast was buttery and toasted perfectly. Really good and refreshing appetizer! Burrata Caprese 9/10 Burrata and tomatoes were super fresh. I really wish the tomatoes eye cut up smaller to be able to get them in more bites; they were pretty big. The "baby greens" had both chopped up romaine and a spring mix. Again, smaller pieces would have been good. Or even just an arugula and spinach mixture. The romaine wasn't my favorite to pair with this. Alsatian Flatbread 7/10 Bacon was super crispy. Caramelized onions were cooked great. I thought the goat cheese was going to be the main cheese of this, but it was really like mozzarella with goat cheese sprinkled on top. The flavor of this as a whole was mostly caramelized onion flavor. I think I would have preferred a different flatbread. A host or hostess out front will seat you and we never waited more than a minute. Servers will come immediately to fill a drink order and then the options begin. At breakfast, if you are famished, you can choose a buffet that will cure you of your affliction- all sorts of things you would normally expect- scrambled eggs, meat and toast and granola and cereal- you get the picture. You can also ask your server for a specialty omelette of your choosing or eggs made a certain way. Or choose to eat from a breakfast lunch or dinner menu. We ate in the morning twice and in the evening twice as well and always loved our meals. The buffet for kids is about $20 and for adults about $10 more. If your little one is a small appetite critter, consider eating of the menu. Prices for menu options were more that reasonable and portions matched even my humongous appetite. Tables and booths throughout can handle any sized party so if you're traveling with family and friends, they will almost assuredly be able accommodate you. Good value for food and service.

We were seated immediately and warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. At one point another server even recognized us from a previous date at The Exchange -- are we becoming regulars already? Lol. Wilson was our server and was wonderfully patient as we took our time deciding what to order while getting to know each other better. It happened to be jazz night, which added a relaxed, intimate vibe in the background and made for a really enjoyable Thursday evening. We started with the whipped feta dip, which was creamy, tangy, and just slightly sweet -- the kind of appetizer that's hard to stop dipping into once you start. For dinner I chose the Duck and Saucisson Bolognese. The sauce was rich and deeply savory, with tender duck folded into a hearty, slow-simmered ragù that clung beautifully to the pasta. My date ordered the Roasted Butternut Squash and Tuscan Kale Spaghetti, which struck a great balance of sweet and earthy flavors -- the squash adding a natural sweetness while the kale brought a slightly rustic bite that kept the dish from feeling too heavy. Both our plates will be revisited at home for a couple of days as the serving sizes were large! We both absolutely loved our meals and left talking about how good everything was. Between the atmosphere, the service, and the quality of the food, Plough made for a memorable Thursday night out. I want to especially highlight Wilson as he was super attentive and helpful in every way that you would expect from a fine server.

In the middle are three gorgeous chandeliers, and at the heart of it all is the bar. We were seated upstairs with a view of the downstairs and it was absolutely amazing. For starters we got the oysters which were delicious!! We're from Maryland so we're very judgy with our oysters, but these were great. We've have oysters that were not great out this way so we were nervous, but Rubicon delivered excellence! Next we had the truffle toast special and their octopus. What an amazing pair. The octopus was an absolute delight. It wasn't over cooked and the yucca it was served with was a great compliment to it. The toast was so light and rich at the same time. The truffle added such beautiful depth and complexity without being physically dense. For our mains I had the filet special with mushrooms and my partner had the lamb. Both were perfectly cooked, seasoned, and served. I'll be dreaming of the mushrooms that were served with my steak for weeks to come. We finished off our dinner with the dark chocolate lava cake and two espresso martinis. Both of which were stunning. The cake was moist and not too sweet like some chocolate cakes can be and the espresso martini was perfectly balanced. Rubicon is worth the drive if you're not local and worth the money if you are. Definitely a place I will be recommending to my friends!!

Though I felt the lobster ravioli needed a touch more of something or a bit of a kick, I very much enjoyed it! We ended the meal with a triple chocolate ice cream that was heavenly! Our server was excellent and kind and attentive to our needs. Though I am not usually a fan of a built in, mandatory 20% gratuity fee, the servers and staff definitely earned it and more! But I already knew which oysters I wanted to order because I could hear easily from across the room the choices from another table. But within 15 minutes of our seating, they seated a table of eight loud people right next to us while the rest of the 100 seat restaurant was completely empty on a Tuesday. Confused me. I know for sure that I had put on my reservation that this was an anniversary dinner, but I guess that wasn't noted or important to this restaurant. That's OK it's our first visit. First impressions I guess aren't important. Luckily, I had a paper napkin in my purse, and I was able to wad it up and put it in my ears: that helped decrease the noise level. My husband is lucky for him very hard of hearing, and he just can turn down his hearing aids. Our dozen oysters were delicious; and the mignonette was very good. Again raising my hopes. My husband's "Cha Muy Buena" cocktail was tasty for him; alas there were not any interesting vodka martini variations for me and my dirty martinis were barely adequate over the course of the night--slightly soiled maybe. My husband was also happy with his hot lobster roll. For my anniversary dinner I was really looking forward to a nice steak but alas, I was not interested in paying $65 for 6 ounces of Waygu; so I settled for your Belvi bao bun rip-off, which was fine and by the time it came out, I was so hungry I devoured it. And then for dessert: I was so excited to get the cheese course because I saw you had the Humboldt Fog! And I figured you could not mess this up! And my husband loves a good port which he was able to order the Grahams 30 year (but wow? no 40 year ports? hmm) 30 minutes later: I mean, I guess you had to bake the bread to go with the cheese??? I can't imagine what else would take that long. Except again that you have one server for 100 seat restaurant on a Tuesday night and there's 35 people in it. I guess I need to plan my anniversaries on different nights. Or buy better fire suppression for Josephine's because I don't ever wanna give my anniversary up to anybody else again!!!!

Thankfully, the runner who seated us, (a kind and helpful gentlemen who got a separate tip) noticed and got Daniel to visit our table. My gin martini was excellent and the water was cold. We ordered several plates, which arrived rather quickly. The homemade hummus with the carrots and pickled onions was fantastic. We'd take creamy and delicious hummus like that any day. The deviled eggs were wonderful and came with an extra kick thanks to the jalapeno. Gnocchi with parmesan, carrots, and asparagus was creamy, comforting, and filling. The lamb over hummus, with their rich homemade gravy, rivaled any amazing lamb dish I had anywhere. The portions were phenomenal. I have been to places that give half as much with the same prices.
