    French onion sandwich
    Emily C.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in York! The French onion soup sandwich is one of the best things I've ever tasted! Also - amazing fries with it. My fiancé got the orange glazed chicken which was just as good. The staff were also amazing, and we had a great waitress! For our appetizer we had the cheese fondue, which was great as well. It felt upscale, but the prices were super affordable and reasonable. It was also casual, which we loved!

Fantastic service as always, come here pretty often and it's always the best. I'll always recommend this restaurant to friends.

Delicious experience. Outdoor seating was nice surrounded by flowers and a water feature made a very relaxing spot. Wednesday night is steamer night $8 and wing night $8 per pound. My friends got them. I tried both and very good. Wings had good flavor, plenty of meat, easy to chew. I chose the honey sriracha chicken bites, they were so good. Just enough sweet/hot. I got a side of grilled asparagus. Yummy. For dessert, I got the honey ricotta cheese cake which was a special dessert for Honey Week. It was rich and creamy. Melted in my mouth. Great relaxing dining experience. Aaron out waiter was great.

I think this is the most underappreciated restaurant in York. Always great food and service. The menu items are always imaginative.

Although there was only one other party seated near us, it was a little noisy as the bar was fairly crowded. Service was slow, it took us a while to get our drinks and each one came out individually. The menu was very limited. A few appetizers, a few salads, two sandwiches and only five entrées. I ended up getting a burger as nothing else appealed to me. It was overdone, but tasty. (Would have been even more tasty if it was medium rare!) The bread basket was brought out just after our meals were served, which was pointless. This would not be my choice of restaurants if I were making the plans, but it was still good.

I asked if they had any Vanilla Ice Cream as it wasn't on the menu and they did so purchased a scoop to go with my apple dumpling. The kitchen was slow and took way to but they did have to bake the dessert. They did add some extra ice cream as it took about an hour. I do think they forgot about me at first and the bar tender had to run back at least two occasions to check the kitchen. The service from the bartender and the dessert were perfect. That season dessert was so good and highly recommended it.

The event planner was great to work. She had wonderful suggestions on menu & set up. We chose a brunch buffet & added some of their appetizers & fresh fruit. We made reservations as we know it gets rather busy. Reservations are highly suggested for Friday / Saturday nights. Large parking area outback the whole is packed full, which is generally a good sign in a restaurant. We arrived and we're promptly seated and our waiter arrived to take our drink order shortly thereafter. I had a desert bloom and Bestie had a sangria, rum punch concoction. Desert bloom was delicious. Nice change for a margarita. For apps, I had the French onion soup, which was absolutely delicious perfectly caramelized, onions, nice baguette plenty of cheese. Topped with a crispy onion broth was flavorful. She had the burrata which was a meal in it of itself came in a large salad plate with dressed leaves and strawberries, and a side of crusty bread. For means I got the cioppino and she had the angel hair with shrimp. The cioppino came with a wonderful large slice of grilled bread with an Uni butter, which was absolutely delicious. The broth of that stew was absolutely AMAZING. So rich and flavorful I could've died on that alone. It was full of seafood..... crab, claws, shrimp mussels, fish it was more than enough for two meals. Crab claws were great. The one thing I didn't like. I expected crab claws, and even muscles in the shell. But the tails on the shrimp is frustrating for me, in any dish like that, but I survived lol. Bestie was smarter than me and asked if the shrimp and her dish came with tails on, they did. She then asked if they would remove the tails which the waiter said yes they would so she requested and they obliged. Even though we were stuffed, we want to try some dessert. She had the dark side of the moon cake, and I had the Greek Panna cotta. Both were absolutely delicious. The cake was rich chocolatey just everything you would expect from an overindulge dessert. The Panna cotta was absolutely the perfect ending to the meal. It was covered with a sour cherries and small almond cookies - wonderful, flavor profile - worked so well together. Service was friendly. Price point was amazing. My meal with a drink before tip was $58. For the quality and amount of food I had and considering the giant bowl of seafood stew it was a great value. First post is on our regular rotation for Friday night dinners I haven't tried their brunch. But if you haven't tried The First Post and are looking for something not necessarily upscale, but also not of the Chili's Applebee's vein, consider giving them a try out in East York.

You see, back in 17th century England, private houses would open their homes to the public and sell food and beer. Hence, public house. Over time, they dropped the "lic house" and just called them pubs. Because you never dropped the "lic house" makes me think that you haven't evolved like you should have. And frankly, your food is proof. In fact, it even made me nostalgic. But not in the way you might think. You see, I loved making fun food concoctions when I was a kid. My sister and I would watch this corny show called "Zoom" on Maryland public television, where the kid hosts would make recipes sent in from all over the country. We'd make homemade peanut butter cups using Jif and semisweet chocolate chips. Or weird sandwich combinations like pickles and potato chips and cheese and jelly. The seafood egg rolls weren't the worst part of my meal, but they were definitely sophomoric--as if a kid chef-in-training was asked to whip something up from Chinese food leftovers. Seafood should never taste fishy, yet these did. One bite hit me like something that had been sitting a little too long above the waterline. Not to mention, they were laying on a greasy glob of some mayonnaise accompaniment disguised as a fancy garnish you'd see on MasterChef. One word: Ick. The ahi tacos. Oh boy. My mind fills with seawater the moment I think of them because they tasted as if they had been fished right out of the ocean and then placed on my plate. They were wet. Soaked. Drenched. The gelatinous seaweed clump on each taco wasn't culinary-forward, just unappetizing. I took one bite and wished I could spit it back out, but I reluctantly swallowed it. My esophagus is now aquaphobic thanks to you. The moment the coconut jasmine rice hit my mouth, my tastebuds took the red eye to the coconut tree haven of the Maldives. Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing, but the rice and coconut had no cohesion. It tasted like my younger self dumping a handful of shredded coconut--the sweetened kind my mom kept in the pantry for the wool on her Easter-shaped lamb cake--into a cup of microwaveable rice. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was your kind, charismatic waiter. He was lovely in every way--attentive, sweet, and helpful. He would have been an incredible host on "Zoom." If only his personality made the food taste better. For your sake, I hope you learn to evolve your kitchen's offerings beyond the amateurish trio I experienced. If not, your restaurant's bones may end up fossilized alongside every other place that couldn't adapt.
