My husband and I went to Raimondo's last week for dinner. It was sooo disappointing. I ordered the pork chop special which the waitress highly recommended. When it arrived, it was so tough that I could hardly even cut it with the steak knife. I've had tough meat before, but this one won the prize. They should serve it with a chain saw. I immediately sent it back as it was inedible! They then brought me a pasta dish that was tasteless. We will not go back there even though we have a beach house here on LBI. read more

I have had several dinners at Raimondos in the past but that was "in the past". I went there with four family members and myself for dinner on a Sunday night recently. I recently had gastric surgery and was only going to order an appetizer for dinner but everyone else ordered an appetizer and an entree. I was told even though everyone else ordered an appetizer and an entree I could not just have an appetizer as an entree. I was told the chef would make my appetizer as an entree! What good was that? I couldn't eat an appetizer so what makes them think I wanted an appetizer turned into an entree. When I said I didn't want to order an entree (or pay for a meal I could not finish) I was told that's the way it is! Well they won't be seeing me or my family there anymore and that's the way it is now! And I won't have any problem relaying my story to anyone who expresses an interest in Raimondos! read more

Real quick... Decor was perfect. Intimate and neat. Service was very professional, just as a fine dining restaurant should be. Reservation was exactly on point. Arrived at 8:28 and was sat for our 8:30 reservation immediately. Food was PERFECT! From the presentation to the taste! The menu was very well executed! Kudos to the chef. Heads up: Everyone must order and entree, you can't do tapas style and then share an entree. Can't say I love that, considering I like to pick on numerous apps and then share entrees at times. But I respect their policy, every place is different and it is stated in the menu. I had to force feed to finish my entree because I was so full and don't like to reheat seafood, but it was worth the pain after. :) And the prices are incredibly high $30-70 for entrees and apps are about $14-18 I believe. If you can afford to have a special night out, I'll say it is very worth it! What to eat: I had the Chillean sea bass which was so good and a very generous portion. My boyfriend and I shared the meatball app special which was to die for. Some of the best meatballs and sauce I've had. And then he had the breaded chicken with tortellini special which was also incredible. I wish I had more room to eat because I would've ordered more. Appetizers were amazing. My husband had octopus and I had clams. Big portions, and incredibly good. Service was friendly, attentive but meals were slow to come out. My husband had veal part which was wonderful. I ordered the tuna over spaghetti squash. It was extremely buttery/greasy. I wanted to love the restaurant. I'm sure we'll try again. read more

Very disappointing New Year's Eve dinner. We had no idea the menu was prix fixe at $90 per person--we should have been told at the time we made the reservation--and the menu was more limited than any other holiday menu we've ever experienced. We were extremely rushed; we weren't even offered a cup of coffee or tea to end the meal. Wife and I have been here many times. And food and service has always been good. Tonight was a big exception. After getting water and bread told about specials, we were left unattended for over 20 mins while waitress delivered food to one table and then went to one table after another. I finally had to ask someone to send over our server. After a non-apology apology we finally got our order in. When food arrive the veal was half uncooked. I have read other reviews about Raimondo's and I have to agree with the bad manners of the hostess. We arrived at 5pm on a weeknight. We did not have reservations. I didn't say a word to my husband about the reviews I had read because several of his friends recommended this place. The young woman at the front entrance basically gave him a sour look when we told her we had no reservations so if you must go you better make them. As my husband said..."It takes just five seconds to make a good first impression." There was no one in the restaurant but one other table. This is a BYOB and if you don't bring a bottle there is no liquor store close by where you can quickly purchase a bottle ..so there we were no wine. Oh the restaurant is quiet enough, except that the telephone keeps ringing like when you are at pizza place. Haven't they heard of the phone system that buzzes and lights up? The hostess is sitting right in the front with the phone in front of her. Maybe this is a way for them to say "Look at how busy we are!!" The phone is a turn off. Our waiter, Mike, was friendly enough and complimented us on our choices of food. I ordered the grilled endive wrapped in procuitto with fresh fig and greens salad served with a light raspberry vinegarette dressing it was pleasant but nothing excited my taste buds. The figs were flavorlesss. My husband had the portabello mushroom soup served with an opened grilled prawn. It had a delicate flavor with a little kick. I ordered the special flounder franciase served over linguine with a light sauce. It was very tender and flavorful but a little too salty for my liking. My husband got the scallops and he seemed to enjoy his dish. We both ordered ice tea and the glasses were not to big so we would have enjoyed having another one but we never saw the waiter other than the first two bites of food and even when we were finished we had to wait for him to bring the check. The nicest person we encountered was the bus boy. He was cheerful and he wrapped my 1/2 eaten dinner. Having no liquor license I found this place to be rather pricey. There are so many places on LBI. Save your money eat elsewhere. Rudeness and so so service is not a good restaurant policy. read more

Food was good but they advertised an early bird special both online and in local paper that was good until the end of May but did not honor it. They never offered to compensate with any complimentary item. Not good business practice. Never would have gone to dinner that early if not for the advertised special. Website and local paper should have been updated!! Might have chosen another restaurant that did have early bird special had we known before we were seated and opened our wine. Perfect spot for a quiet more intimate dinner, birthday or anniversary. The service is always top notch, the servers are very friendly and are well educated on menu items. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time and be sure to remember to bring your own beer/wine. Food is always very good and well worth the price. This is THE BEST restaurant on LBI. Evidenced by the fact that you need 2-3 weeks minimum to get a reservation on a weekend. They always have a long list of appetizer and entree specials. Their main menu changes frequently. I love their bolognese, salads, prosciutto, pork chop, lobster tail and I can go on & on & on!!!!!! We have been going to Raimondo's for 20 years. We have always had exceptional service and terrific food. Today was no exception! Linda, our waitress, was extremely pleasant and very professional. The food was extraordinary. We had a fish dish as well as the ribeye steak. Both were extremely tasty with an excellent presentation. The mashed potatoes and broccoli rabe were absolutely delicious. I almost forgot the Caesar salad, which was one of the best that we ever had, anywhere. The entire staff was very pleasant and welcoming. We read about an ownership change. Amazing food and great service. Very nice decor. We split a scallops over risotto dish and flounder francese. The scallops were some of the best I have ever tasted and the fish was perfectly cooked. We started with their delicious burrata. Perfect dinner. The quality is very high and prices reasonable for the portions and elevated cuisine. BYO makes it very affordable. We ate at Raimondo's for the first time last night. We have passed this restaurant for over 10 years and have always said we needed to try it because the parking lot is always packed so it must be good! Our instincts were correct! Everything was excellent! The service was outstanding! We appreciated that we were not rushed through our meal and had about 10-15 minutes between courses so we could actually enjoy the food! The lobster ravioli was fantastic and the swordfish special was beyond words!! The best piece of swordfish we have ever had! This should go on the daily menu!! The menu has a wide array of options, and the chef is happy to accommodate requests for customizing dishes. This was my third time eating there. In 2015 it was an incredible dining experience so I returned in 2016 to find the quality to be lacking and chalked it up to them just having a bad day. Today I returned and it all started out well. The menu did not match the menu online so what I wanted to order was not possible. In its place I got an appetizer of calamari which was OK. I burned my hand on the plate trying to get the over dusting of old bay or something off of it. the big letdown was the entree. So bad I will sadly never return. I ordered the described cold water lobster with scallops on spaghetti with a creamy cheese sauce. First off the waitress was nice but could care less about my concern and nobody else cared either. The dish came and it was not cold water lobster but cheap Caribbean spiny lobster. I had them add crab to my dish and it was chunk light canned crab. The scallops were sand filled and the spaghetti cream sauce took me back to elementary school hot lunch with Chef Boyardee Franco American canned Mac n cheese. I was not happy. I heard another table ask a different waiter what the cold water lobster was (usually Maine Atlantic waters) more expensive and much tastier! This waiter said... ugh it's from the south Pacific near Tahiti....then admitted he had no idea that lobster is lobster and it's all so good! I corrected them before I left. Maybe we hit Raimondos on a bad night, but we had a terrible experience. We had an 8:30 reservation. We arrived at 8:20 and were rudely told that it would be a few minutes. We were not seated until 8:55. When we checked with the hostess at 8:45, she rudely told us that we were a large party and that we had to wait. Once seated, we were told that they do not accommodate small children with highchairs. No big deal, had they told us on the phone at the time I made the reservation, but what are you supposed to do with an 18 month old and no highchair? We had to stack 2 chairs and use a belt to hold him in. Then, our waiters never offered us anything other than water to drink until we asked for drinks. No food was brought to out table for over an hour. In the meantime, a table of 8 had left nearby and no one bothered to clear it, leaving us to stare at filth throughout our dinner. The food was mediocre at best and worst of all, no one even bothered to check to see how the food was. We were celebrating a birthday, but when we called to ask if we could bring a cake, they told us we'd have to pay $4.50/person for Raimondos to serve it. Also they had the nerve to charge 20% gratuity for the worst service I have ever seen. I am wring this review so that others don't suffer the same way... There are plenty of good restaurants out there. Don't waste your time and money on this one! read more

A restaurant where "Policy Trumps Customer Service". Introduced to this restaurant over ten years ago. Food is fine. But success has driven the owners to place their priority on money instead of customer service. My wife and I looked forward to a nice dinner to kick off the 4th of July. After ordering a pricy entre pushing $40 for a piece of fish not lobster, and two appetizers we decided to order our third appetizer and were 'told' they would price it at an entre level because we hadn't order a second entre. When I questioned the manager she rudely informed me "that was their policy, no exceptions ". So a near $100 dinner for two without tips or drinks wasn't enough money for the owners. It was noisy, children next to us were playing video games. A resident of LBI for over 50 years, this one will NEVER appear there again and our experience will be shared openly with our friends and associates who frequent LBI restaurants. Many years and many meals - always great food from first course thru dessert. Best Bolognese I've ever wrapped my lips around! Their lentil soup inspired me to make my own. Flounder francese, shrimps stuffed with crabmeat, filet tips with mushrooms. And the desserts... Sorry, just had to wipe the drool off my keyboard. As a New Year's Eve surprise my boyfriend made reservations here. From the minute we sat down things didn't go well and it was all downhill from there. We had to wait 15 minutes to get wine glasses- we were never told that the only menu they offered cost $90.00 per person! We were shocked at the cost for what was a standard 4-5 course dinner-so we hoped that it would be outstanding and decided to stay. We tried to be friendly with our waitress but she seemed very condescending and phony. We had to wait long periods of time for every part of the dining experience- the appetizer , soup, and salad were unimaginative so we anxiously awaited our entree- my veal was over so cooked I sent it back- our waitress seemed annoyed and brushed me off when I told her I had to think about what I wanted- she never checked on us again and we had to find her to have another dinner brought to me-we then waited and waited just to get coffee and never saw any dessert- until we flagged her down again after our coffee was gone. We couldn't wait to leave and get away from this disaster. We had tried dining there about a year before and had the same type of experience but for a lesser cost so we thought we'd give them another chance especially since it was New Year's Eve. I spent a few days in LBI with my boyfriend and we wanted to splurge and have one fancy night out together. Raimondo's was the perfect choice!! Being that this restaurant is located down the shore and right on the island, it seemed most logical for us to stick to seafood dishes. I ordered Zuppa di Clams for my appetizer and they were fantastic. My boyfriend got the mussels, which was a special, and he raved about how wonderful they were. Both appetizers were hot, very very fresh, and not too heavy. We then split a caesar salad. The lettuce was fresh, and it wasn't dripping in dressing. It was tasty. For a main meal, I had a special. It was fresh, Barnegat Bay scallops over pancetta risotto. It was so delicious! The scallops were tender and seared to perfection. Their lightness complemented the heavier risotto perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed my entree. My boyfriend had their hazelnut crusted Chilean Sea Bass and he loved it as well. We then split a yummy molten brownie dessert and my boyfriend had a perfectly made cappuccino. Overall, the food was out of this world. Yes, it is a bit pricy, but one must remember it is right on the island where prices are typically a bit higher to begin with. If you want to really enjoy a nice, fancy dinner, then Raimondo's is the place. Our waitress was EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgeable. She catered to our every need and answered all of our questions courteously and thoroughly. Just a note, the restaurant is small, and a reservation is a much. It can also get a bit noisy. While the food was excellent last night at Raimondo's -- all four of us liked what we had very much -- on a busy Saturday night the service was horrible. Our server was pleasant and enthusiastic, but went AWOL on us for about 30 mins. We waited more than 90 minutes (you heard that right!) to get served our entrees; when we finally tracked him down, he explained that there was a backup in the kitchen. We explained, nicely, that that's the kitchen's responsibility, and his was to communicate with us. To boot, the proper thing to do would've been to apologize and perhaps comp us a dessert (or something!), yet when the check arrived, no such concession was made. Walked in at 9:30 PM asked for table after negative experience at La Spiaggia, eailier that evening. we were warmly welcomed even late in the evening and while most all tables were filled, Completely opposite experience at La Spiaggia nearby. We had a wonderful dinner, calamari, then Sea Bass baked with a hazelnut bread crumb over a carrot and rock shrimp risotto, lemon, basil broth and baby pea tendrils. superb! Let me start out by saying the food is definitely five stars. Everyone in our party ordered something different and all dishes were superb! We arrived on a Saturday night (off season) and were promptly and courteously seated at a nice table for four. The problem was that we were a party of five, so be warned if you are an odd numbered party, ask ahead about the seating. Being the host, I took the fifth chair in the service aisle. Not good. Our server (J) was not up to the level of service you would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. Let me just leave it at that. Expensive but worth it. This would be censored if I were to describe my experiences. The food is ---- outrageous! And the chef is a true artist. The blend of flavors in the dishes- food preparation and presentation is perfect. The quantity is definitely sizable compared to other upscale restaurants, and every morsel of my meals have been...uh... ORGASMIC (is that ok to say?) Tonight's shrimp and yellowfin tuna (one if the specials) was cooked puuuuurrrrfectly, nothing rubbery or frozen- probably the best shrimp I've ever eaten/ large, sweet, tender, cooked to perfection. The sushi grade yellowfin was cooked exactly as I asked, extra rare and delicious. No room for dessert, but couldn't pass up the pumpkin cheesecake! Not too sweet, very creamy, and wanted to lick the plate! Straight from Brooklyn, NY... FORGET Cheesecake Factory- this was the best, especially with that small scoop of cinnamon ice cream to top off the meal. The veal that my friends had fell off the bone with tenderness, and my husband's pork chop surrounded by all this great stuff was fantastic, (another special), and I don't even like pork chops.
